You're missing the point. The Sox could have had Bogey alot cheaper but they dicked around with Bogey all year. They didn't need to give him what San Diego did to retain him. I don't understand why people don't get this FFS
He's 2 years younger than Bogey coming off a career year. I wouldn't be surprised if a team offers him over 200 Mil. At that point I would have preferred to keep Bogey instead of paying over 200 Mil for him
He's ranked 11 on WRC since 2020. And that's with playing a lot more games that everyone else. His WAR is high because of his defense. His offense is nothing spectacular
Honestly who knows who makes the decisions. When DD was here it certainly didn't seem like JH was giving him a budget. It seemed he was doing what he wanted to. I'm sure JH has a say as he own the team but that's why you hire a GM for. I'm sure if Bloom believes in something he can persuay JH to go for it
I'm not a big fan of Swanson. In 6 full seasons he's had an OPS + under 100 on 4 occasions and one of the season he did was the covid season. So really this past season was his first full season of a OPS + over 100. And people keep saying he has a weak arm. So why get him as it will probably cost 200 Million based on the current market and we have Mayer coming up. Makes zero sense to me.
And speaking of Correa, there's chatter that some teams have no interest in him due the scandale. That might be why he's having a hard time finding his mega contract
No way they get Correa. If they do the fan base will rage as he will cost more and fans would prefer Bogey than the guy who was in the center of the cheating scandale. Swanson will cost more than we think based on the deals that have issued so far. Over 200 MIl. Been better off to keep Bogey at that point.
No way Dugo in Center. He can't even handle LF. From reports Yoshida is an avg OF at best. This team needs a strong CF to compensate for the 2 bad corner OF. Kike will need to play Center unless Bloom goes ahead and picks up KK which I can see him doing.
So here's the thing about this over bidding. The way the salaries are going up year over year the price that these team will be paying their players in these long contract will probably be close to market price at that time. In 10 years from now 400+ million will be the new normal contracts
What you all don't realize is that who says if he stayed with Sox it would have been the same deal? Again, Turner and Judge took less money. Bogey has expressed to stay here. They could have gotten him for cheaper in my opinion.
