Dugo. Even with his crappy defense he is miles ahead a better player than JBJ. He can actually hit the ball. Christ, JBJ has been negative value since Milwaukee. That's pretty bad considering he's a beast on defense.
You just said yourself, he will not be in Boston next year because they will NOT give Devers a 13 + year contract and that's what he will be looking for based on this off season. And if he as a monster season, over 400 Million
I remember when Kike got extended for one year he was pumped and said to the fanbase that we should expect big things this off season as he was promised by Bloom that they would have a winning team next year. I'm sorry but this team isn't remotely close to a winning team and with whatever free agents is remaining ( in Blooms price range) will not make them a winning team IMO.
This off season was really botched IMO.
Not dissatisfied for bassitt but dissatisfied they haven't signed any SP yet. And the only ones left on the block are Rondon ( that ain't happening) Nate which apparently not on the Sox radar. So they leaves stripling, Noah Syndergaard and Kluber
I think Blooms mystery man for a SP is going to be a Japanese starter Shintaro Fujinami. According to Masslive they are looking at him. Although I don't know how credible that is
JH biggest contract has been 217 Mil followed by Manny way back in the day at 160 Mil. When I mean open his check book I mean for mega deals to retain superstars. Can you imagine the Sox still had Mookie and Xander on the team this year? Sure their payroll would be higher but they would have a great core where they would be competitive year after year. How many deals in MLB history have eclipsed 160 Milion? A lot and Red Sox only have ONE of them
These owners are filthy rich. I applaud what Cohen is doing to be honest. These tax tresholds are peanuts for these owners. I certainly applaud Henry for the 4 rings but the way the market is going if he wants to stay competitive he will need to open his check book soon.
