  1. umm, which lamar odom are you talking about? i'd gladly take the lamar from the miami heat because the lamar from LA has been inconsistent and pretty much does a dissapearing act when the team needs him step up. at this point smush has been more consistent a contributer than lamar (1 for 7 last nite, CMON!).
  2. to that point, last i checked, MJ didn't start winning championships until management surrounded him with talent (all star-Pippen,dominant power forward- Ho. Grant, 3point specialists-Craig Hodges, Steve Kerr, etc.). might as well call lamar the invisible man because looking at the box score you couldn't tell if he bothered to show up. as great as this single-game performance was, it shows the glaring holes on LA's roster... that without kobe shooting out of his mind, this team loses by double digits to the lowly raptors. why a move hasn't been made yet to bring in sprewell or artest is beyond me... especially when phil himself has been advocating bringing in the tru warrior to LA.
  3. i don't have a problem if theo did bring him in, but what are we giving up? i too have fond memories of griffey in his seattle days, but outside of clement + _____ prospect, i don't know if i'd make that deal. clement would be a given since they are always looking for pitching, but seeing as how he had one of his better statistical seasons in awhile, they might demand either lowell/marte too.
  4. the problem is that aside from wishful thinking, cincy will never let griffey go unless they are overwhelmed with an unbelievable offer. if you remember last year, there was trade talk that they were shopping dunn and kearns only to make silly tampa bay-like demands in return. and when they saw no team was that desperate, they conveniently took them both off the trading block and said no one...not even griffey (who the white sox were angling for desperately) was available.
  5. dunno. the dodgers were willing to give tampa what it wanted in terms of minor league talent/prospects...something the sox are now unwilling to do since we have already sent out our 'expendable' prospects to florida.
  6. i was laughing hysterically when they lost. while it would have been sweeter if the pats could have done them again, but in their own home would have cemented peyton as the best regular season hof qb but supreme choke artist when it counts most. i knew when san diego did them at home, they weren't going to the superbowl. i'd like to see seattle move on, but they've been known to melt down and choke just like indy. now that carolina is banged up, we'll see which team can man up and show they want it more. i think carolina has more heart and wants it more, but outside of steve smith, i cant say seattle doesn't like their chances.
  7. i wouldn't say im excited about having him, other than he throws hard, likes to pitch inside and jam up the hitter... but he's more than decent, adds much needed depth, and he doesn't go to a team that can potentially hurt us in the playoffs when pitching depth is most critical.
  8. lol ur right...that's what i get for staying up a little too late....
  9. i'd sign that memo! especially since it seemed like dillion either woke up an old man this season or is starting to break down now that he's on the wrong side of 30.
  10. well its hard to argue he isn't completely wrong (no offense to o-lineman)...seeing as how throughout the regular season he had the time and protection he needed to torch opposing defenses, its kind of hard to do that when the pocket is constantly collapsing and you don't exactly have the best scrambling QB to begin with. but i will give credit to pittsburgh for making the plays they needed to and overwhelming peyton's protection and interrupting his timing.
  11. as long as indy lost im happy, but second to indy losing, im praying denver doesn't make it to super bowl. chicago winning wasnt a surprise, but if shaun alexander can go and be effective, no way seattle loses shy of self-destructing. with foster and davis out, smith will literally have to put the team on his back and win it for them.
  12. as a dodger fan well i'm not as high on jackson as everyone else thinks. he's been inconsistent and injury prone the last couple of years, and has not been able to live up to the can't-miss label that was expected of him and other 'cant miss' dodger prospects(excluding our current untouchables in AA/AAA). I still think we made a good deal by trading for a closer than can step in and make an immediate impact until gagne comes back, and in return only gave up expendable minor leaguers. It also gives us needed flexibility because of gagne's rehab, and with free agency coming up for both of them, we can deal one for the best package to a desperate playoff contender if we fall out of contention (unlikely in the NL West).
  13. lol i've never met an acutal mets and yankees fan... i'm not saying its impossible to have allegiance to more than one team, but its like being a dodger and angels fan...typically either you're one or the other, or your just a common bandwagoner (of which we have many here in LA). c'mon you're gonna tell me you root for both the jets and giants too?
  14. i was actually impressed with his performance in the playoffs two years ago and thought he's had a pretty good couple of years with the Cardinals. I was suprised there wasn't a higher demand for his services considering you can never have enough pitching (starting & relief)...so yeah, I'm psyched about this signing...(plus we keep him from going to ny!)
  15. Like the class Young showed with the Heisman pose right? In a vacuum both comments or actions can be taken the wrong way. But I know Leinart went into the lockeroom after the game and personally congratulated Brown and Young for the win. I'm not going to hold a comment made in the heat of competition against him after his defense failed to get a stop when they needed it most to win the game.
  16. White just as much a shot to win it next year as Peterson. White put up great numbers this year and still had to share the backfield with Bush the only loss on the o-line is one senior and with Jarrett and coming back plus Booty stepping in, white could have an even better year next season, assuming he doesn't go pro of course.
  17. LOL! Well I'm just emerging from the shock and despair I was in after the game up until about yesterday. As a hardcore Trojan fan, let me say I have nothing but the utmost respect for Young and his team deserved to win. They played like they wanted it more and better said, they expected to win, even when down by 2 scores with under 5 min. left in the game. I pretty much assumed at that point we had the game won and I knew the second we did not convert on that 4th and 2 that Young was going to come right down the field (like he had all night) and score. Final outcome aside, for me this one of the greatest games I've ever seen. Both teams won and lost with class (unlike that p.o.s. Vick) and I can only hope we get as entertaining a championship game next year.
  18. if white comes back, it will be to either compete for heisman (now that vince is going pro) or to be top 10 pick. personally, i think with his numbers this year and him getting the all-time record for TD @ USC, i think he's an obvious first round pick anyways. his performance in rose bowl was impressive and he's likely gonna take the money and go pro.
  19. lol i was gonna post the same thing... personally, i have nothing against him, but if i was a gm i wouldnt touch him until sometime on day 2 of the draft if at all. he needs to prove he can stay out of trouble long enough to get his head right. i'd sign him to an incentive laden contact ala Clarett and at the first misstep, cut his ass.
  20. well a share of the title is better than nothing, but i can't say i'm too optimistic heading into next year. we'll see how petey is as a recruiter and evaluator of talent after having this core group for the last 3 years. one positive note is we have mainly underclassmen on the defensive side of the ball getting valuable experience this year and looking to be better next year.
  21. i don't necessarily disagree with you. i just think the idea of drafting potentially the best talent available might be too tempting to overcome and the texans could rationalize it by either drafting o-line help with picks from round 2 - 7, pickup FA let go before training camp breaks, or wait till next year. from a fan perspective, having a trio of Carr, Johnson, and Bush might = the Cowboys triplets of Aikman, Irvin, and Smith.
  22. Logically it makes sense to trade the pick to fill in their other holes on both sides of the ball, but that being said, the Jets are the last team to step up and pay anything for Bush. First of all, they still have Martin (who may be on the down side of career) and they are notoriously cheap passing on more expensive options in the past like trading for Rivers when he was available at the trade deadline. If any team is desperate enough to grab Bush, I still think (and pray) its the niners...especially since they dropped another draft slot after losing the coin flip w/the raiders. I predict the saints will draft leinart...especially since aaron brooks is done in new orleans.
  23. last i checked you need a competent if not good QB & receivers to go along with a great runningback (Sanders). sorry but scott mitchell and erik kramer don't count.
  24. because dusty is notorious for leaving his starters out way too long and making them susceptible to injury...and is part of the reason kerry wood has been a mess since he [baker] got there.
  25. Another laughable trade and insult to Manny's value. No thanks. If the A's are holding on to Zito till at least the All-Star Break, then we can do the same and see what other desperate teams are willing ante up because they think Manny will put them over the top. BTW, while I like Tejada, I don't see how his production will = what we lose without Manny in our lineup. And Baltimore balking at trading within their own division is ridiculous...just like they don't want to have to face Tejada, do they actually think we would prefer to see Manny in the same division wearing another uniform? Peter Angelos is idiot that doesn't 'get it', and I feel kinda sorry for the fans of Baltimore. Hopefully they take their revenge by become Nats fans.
