I think that everybody is forgetting, that Pedro in 04 did have a 3.90 Era, but he had a dreadfull September, heading into the month his Era was at like 3.30, still high, but I think it was just a bad year, in 03 he led the leauge with a 2.22 Era
I just watched Schillings 20th win game of 04 on Red Sox Classics, and Schillings Velocity is the same if not better now than it was then, however the Spiltter was much nastier and he could throw it for a strike. The big difference is not Velocity its Location, this is really the trouble Curt had last year as well, in september, he had decent Velocity but the Location was just not there
Its wired because in 04, Pedro pitched 89-90 most of the time, and when he really needed it he got 93. But last year with the Mets I saw him hitting 95-96, however that veolocity tailed off in the second half of the season. This year he is back living around 90-91 however the man just knows how to pitch, and for that reason as long as Pedros Arm is attached to his body, he can still pitch maybe for another 3-4 years
First off, There isnt much of a change when putting Snow in the latter innings instead of Youk. Thats why his playing has decreased since the season began. Its not like Millar is starting over there at first. There is no need for a defensive replacement.
Responding to the Nixon-for Zito
Why? Nixon has been a one of our most consistant hitters all season long, Zito is way to inconsistant for me. I saw sign Clemens and Put Lester or Hansen in Clements spot.
This guy has barely seen the field this year, bascially because Youk is hitting the s*** out of the ball, and is playing great defense, we basically have no use for a defensive replacment anymore, who cant hit much at all. I say Bring up Choi for power off the bench, and trade Snow somewhere where he will get a little more Playing time
This is sort of like Schills first start at Camden Yards, Struggled through 3 , even though it was shut out ball, if i remember correctly he was domininte during innings 4-7, lets hope that happens tonight
Im responding to the Nixon-Millar Comparison. First off lets remember that Trot was having a great season before he had a freak injury last season. Millar was healthy he just plain sucked. I do think they will let Nixon walk next year, however it will be a sad sight he has been here the longest for a position player and he always gives 110%, he will always be remembered in RSN. But he plays until he no longer has a contract with this team, plus he just hit a HR
I would love to go to this game but I have never been to a sox yankees game, I always watch on T.V and am dying to a part of this rivalry live. However BrentD22 cause is greater than mine, as well as Schillisthenatural. They either deserve or will do better with the Tickets than I will. However if this is a random drawing, and I win I would like to go
So I guess this means that Papelbon will be the closer for the forseeable future, and instead of the Papelbon/Lester/Beckett Trio, it Will be Hansen/Lester/Beckett Trio, I think it will be a mistake to Keep paps in the pen.
