  12. Beckett gets second chance at win No. 4 Toronto (13-12) at Boston (15-11), 7:05 p.m. ET By Mike Petraglia Coming off their first rainout of the season, the Red Sox will turn their sights to another American League East foe when they welcome the Blue Jays to town for a two-game series Wednesday night at Fenway. Not five weeks into the season, this will be the seventh meeting between the two clubs. The Blue Jays have had their way with Boston this year, taking four of the first six meetings, including the final two games of a three-game series, April 11-13, in Boston. "We've seen them a lot," Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis said. "It would be good for us to come out here and take two games from the Blue Jays. It would be really big because of the way they've been playing us. They've been playing us real well and to take two games from them right now would be huge to get a little momentum on our side." Red Sox skipper Terry Francona has decided to skip lefty Lenny DiNardo in the rotation, pushing his next start back to Sunday while giving the ball to Josh Beckett, who was scheduled to pitch in Tuesday's finale against the Yankees. The Jays counter with ace Roy Halladay. Beckett never warmed up prior to Tuesday's rainout and is rested for Wednesday's contest. The Red Sox, behind Beckett, appeared on their way to victory April 21 at Rogers Centre, leading 6-3 in the eighth, when the Jays rallied for four run and escaped with a 7-6 win in 12 innings. "They've played us well and we have Josh throwing [Wednesday] and I know he wants to get some revenge because he had such a good outing for about seven innings his last time," Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell said. The Blue Jays have scored 31 runs in their four wins over the Sox this season. "They've hit, they've hit the ball real well and they've pitched real well against us," Youkilis added. "Their pitchers have held us down a lot and they've come out swinging. They have a really good ball team and they're definitely going to be in contention this year." Pitching matchup BOS: RHP Josh Beckett (3-1, 4.50 ERA) Beckett is coming off arguably the worst start of his career. In that loss at Cleveland, Beckett was belted for a career-high nine runs, eight of which were earned. In this one, he will have a chance for redemption against the Blue Jays after giving up three homers in a no-decision on April 21. TOR: RHP Roy Halladay (3-1, 2.84 ERA) A high pitch count forced Halladay out early for the second game in a row, but that didn't stop of from picking up his second straight win. The right-hander threw 99 pitches in 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the Yankees. He allowed seven hits, but he worked well out of jams -- forcing 10 groundouts versus just two fly outs. On April 22, Halladay picked up a win against Boston after allowing one run on six hits in five innings. Player to watch Jonathan Papelbon, selected Tuesday as the American League Rookie of the Month for April, leads the Majors with 10 saves in as many chances. 13. The difference, Damon played here for 4 years and was good, Clemens pitched here for 12 years and was great
  14. Wow, 105 posts 30 minutes before first pitch
  15. How do you know this, seriously have yo ever met him, are you close friends, coments like that are absured
  16. Im yeah Beckets an ******* Because of Game 6 right. Yankees fans and their grudges
  17. I dont think a player who plays once every five days can bring down a franchise. However I do think that the additions of all the superstars has made the Yankees club house an uncomfortable place.
  18. Beckett to face familiar foe New York Yankees (13-11) at Boston (15-11), 7:05 p.m. ET By Ian Browne (mlb.com) The career splits for Josh Becket indicate that he's never faced the Yankees before. However, that only accounts for the regular season. Look on Beckett's resume for World Series statistics and his previous encounters with the Yankees speak loudly. In the 2003 Fall Classic, Beckett stymied the Yankees with a 1-1 record and a 1.10 ERA over two starts. The one win, of course, was not only in the Game 6 clincher, but it was on three days' rest. And it was in the hostile environment of Yankee Stadium that Beckett lifted his Florida Marlins to the top of the baseball universe. Now, he's trying to conquer the same nemesis, but this time, as part of the biggest rivalry in baseball. Beckett is Boston's marquee addition to the rivalry this year, and he'll face the Yankees on Tuesday night at Fenway Park as the Red Sox go after the sweep of this brief, two-game series. It's been nearly three years since the Yankees have seen him up close, but they remember what Beckett did. "He had a great presence on the mound that night, which is what stands out to me more than anything," said Yankees manager Joe Torre. "He has a lot of confidence. The only problem he's had over the last couple of years is being able to stay out there and take the ball every five days." Beckett had a great beginning for the Red Sox, winning his first three starts. But he's hit a bump in the road his last two outings. Staked to a 6-2 lead on April 21 in Toronto, Beckett allowed the Blue Jays to come storming back. He got the no decision but the Red Sox lost the game. In his last outing, Beckett was pounded by the Guardians, giving up nine runs (eight earned) over 3 2/3 innings. "No excuse. You just have to go out and execute pitches, and if you don't do that, balls get [belted] all over the place, just like they did," Beckett said following his Cleveland outing. He'll try to regain his groove against the powerful Yankees. The Red Sox did a solid job holding down the Yankees in Monday's opener, prevailing by a score of 7-3. Pitching matchup BOS: RHP Josh Beckett (3-1, 4.50 ERA) Beckett is coming off arguably the worst start of his career. In that humbling loss at Cleveland, Beckett was belted for a career-high nine runs, eight of which were earned. This will be the first time he's faced the Yankees since he conquered them in clinching Game 6 of the 2003 World Series. Beckett, then pitching for the Marlins, was the MVP of that Fall Classic. NYY: RHP Shawn Chacon (3-1, 4.56 ERA) Chacon has won three straight decisions, allowing two runs over 13 1/3 innings in his last two outings. Chacon was 0-1 with a 14.73 ERA in two outings (one start) against Boston last season. Player to watch Left fielder Manny Ramirez is hitting .353 in his last 15 games with 12 RBIs. 19. Thank you once again
  20. Just had to do this, because the thread Rivernator created last night made me sick!
  21. Very True
  22. This is so awsome, I was so excited when I saw this on Espn news, This isnstanly makes Wakefield better, even though he had a 3.90 ERA, Welcome Home Dougiee, this is also a great move because, he is a class act and a vaulable part to the sox club house. Now if we could trade Mueller for Lowell, Pedro for Clement and Lowe for Wells, it would be like 2004 all over agian, haha
  23. You know what eles is funny "disregard Mariano Rivera and the Yankees Bullpen ERA is probally better"
