    I think if he didn't let up the run he may have gone back out.

    CGs don't matter. If the games in hand, and it was, there is no reason to run him back out there to go over 100 pitches.

    The Yankees pitching is only going to get worse. Besides Moose you have nothing. On top of that your defense is horrible. Get Sheffield back ... get Matsui back ... go buy someone else thats going to hit you 40 HRs ... IT DOESN'T MATTER! Offense doesn't win championships ... clearly Georgie isn't the only one that doesn't know that ... We have a better rotation and a better defense, infact the best defense in baseball. I'll take them over your lineup any day of the week.

    I'm happy that didn't go out. I'd rather see him get another double.

    OK to the same effect if you bring Coco back it adds speed to the top of our lineup ... an element we haven't had almost the entire year. We also slide Youk back down in the order and he can turn those RISP into RBI before AGon/Cora/Harris can turn them into LOB. So in the same way that you guys are hurting because of injuries ... so are we. It's how the game goes ... stop bitching about it. Better yet ... start bitching to George about getting all these old f***s. Sheffield has been hurt for a decade.

    Why won't he? I could understand that if he were still 30 ... but he's 43 ... he's not coming back. He's cooked. Yeah let us hop up 5-6 games while we're missing our leadoff hitter. You're crying about missing some players ... well guess what? We're missing our leadoff hitter ... we have been almost the entire year. You seem like you know a lot about baseball ... how important is a leadoff hitter?

    Pedro without question. He had the best 3 year stretch of any pitcher ever. He won 3, should have been 4, cy youngs in 4 years. Also as has been stated a hundred times over on this board now he ranks in the top 10 of many statistical categories for pitchers. I really don't understand how Clemens got a vote. Didn't we already establish that Pedro was a better pitcher than Roger?

    I don't believe I said anything about Ortiz deserving award for something other than his numbers. I simply thought that he should not be slighted because he doesn't play the field.

    If he stays healthy I think it's possible, but without the help of steroids or other performance enhancing drugs the body breaks down as the season goes on. Staying on a pace like this is almost impossible. Remember that the highest HR total by a non-cheater is only 61.
