  1. They are not going to cut him. This is all talk to try and get him to work out. If they do release him I could definatly see the Steelers trying to make a run at him so they could cut Duce.
  2. Well I hope you're the only one, or I guess I'm on a board full of losers. Are you happy after getting your ass beat ... just because you showed up for the fight?
  3. That may have put the Pirates in double digit wins this year, in one run games.
  4. Since when did just going to the World Series mean anything?
  5. That doesn't make any sense. By moving Paps back to the rotation you're only getting 1 starter. It's not like Paps is going to pitch twice.
  6. THE BATTLE FOR THE BASEMENT: Cubs vs. Pirates!!!
  7. I never claimed to love collecting prospects. You have said that the Sox don't spend enough, and don't get big name players for prospects. I want the team to be run like it is now. We a big emphasis on having a strong farm system.
  8. It's hard to score when your 2 best bats are gone.
  9. So instead of having an average to below average rotation and a lights out closer ... you'd rather have an above average rotation, and a makeshift closer?
  10. Well if nothing else this year maybe we at least ruined Weaver by giving him his first loss.
  11. Did you miss the part where I listed what our rotation would have been. 2 MLB pitchers and 3 guys that likely should never see competition above the AAA level. We could score 100 runs and it wouldn't matter.
  12. Without Manny or Papi ... 0.
  13. I would rather have a DOMINATE closer over a GOOD starting pitcher. Looks like I'm the only one here though.
  14. I'm not coming anywhere. The Braves won 1 World Series in a decade of dominate starting pitching.
  15. Your reply had absolutely nothing to do with my post ... at all. Call the Braves and ask them how many WS they won with dominating starting pitching and no closer. They had a decade worth of chances and won 1 World Series.
  16. Again go cheer for the Yankees. They are always more than willing to part with prospects, and always willing to pay more money. I just can't see why you cheer for the Sox when the Yankees do everything you want the Sox to do.
  17. Bullpen is as if not more important. Having the lead for 7 innings is awesome, but the important part is having it at the end of the game.
  18. Agreed. That's why those were the stats I gave.
  19. Teams have also won World Series with good to decent DHs ... should we try to get another one of those?
  20. And who is going to close? Great lets get a lead to the 9th an extra 1 day a week and then we can all cross our fingers and pray as we wait to see if our average or below average closer can hold on.
  21. Come on Jeter deserves it more for hitting .337. I mean isn't it amazing that he's hitting .337? I mean .337!!! MVP MVP MVP!!!! How can you compare Papi to Jeter ... I mean Jeter is putting up ... Freddy Sanchez like numbers. Seriously if one more person on ESPN suggests Jeter should win the MVP I'm going to fly to the ESPN HQ and burn it down.
  22. Yeah I wasn't trying to fight ... I just think the movement on it is as if not more important. I wasn't disagreeing with you.
  23. Nathan has allowed 45 runners to reach base in his 55 IP. Whereas Paps has allowed only 4 more runners(49) in 10.2 more innings(65.2) Paps has also allowed 4 less ER in 10.2 more innings. You say Nathan has only blown 1 save, but he's only has 28 chances ... Paps has had 40.
  24. I'd just like to see him retire here rather than trade him for a couple A ballers who will never go anywhere. I'm wrong though ... we should move him for whatever we can get.
  25. Yeah too bad Randy Johnson didn't throw over the top during his prime ...
