  1. autographed authentic Chris Higgins Habs jersey. I'm so f***ing pumped right now
  2. turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, broccoli, meat pie (french-canadian tradition), meatballs (also a french-canadian tradition), christmas ice cream cake and cheesecake as far as fattest red sox and yankees players. david wells, definitely. sidney ponson, cecil fielder, karim garcia, mo vaughn happy holidays to all you guys
  3. the only thing that worries me about WMP as the everyday 5th batter in the lineup is that this is a year where the Sox are going for broke and relying on unproven players to play key roles is a bit unnerving to a lot of people
  4. he's usually a better hitter than he showed last year so hopefully this will be a bounce back year considering he gets to have spring training with the team this year
  5. Drew will get the benefit of the doubt from me until he gets injured cause everyone here was talking about Beckett's injury issues last year at around this time and he ended up making all his starts if I'm not mistaken. I do know he set a personal record for innings in a season though
  6. im not worried, at best, Romero is a solid lefty specialist and at worst, he sucks and promptly gets DFAed
  7. Siebel better not be the second coming of Cla Meredith
  8. I'm thinking Romero will have a Mike Myers-ish role with the team with Okajima being relied on to produce more than 1 out per outing. I see Timlin/Donnelly handling set-up duties for, I'm hoping, Mike Gonzalez
  9. held lefties to a .211 average and only allowed 13 of 44 inherited runners. gotta look at more than the ERA here
  10. is it possible they were talking about D-Mat and the "other acquisition" is actually Donnelly?
  11. bah, we both created our threads at 2:21pm. mods can feel free to delete this one
  12. WEEI just announced the Sox have acquired Brendan Donnelly from the Angels for AA pitcher Phil Seibel. Bullpen is beginning to take shape a bit. Niceeeee
  13. I think we all learned last season that you can never have enough starting pitching Schilling Clemens Matsuzaka Beckett Papelbon looks better than Schilling Matsuzaka Beckett Papelbon Wakefield And you make Wakefield a long reliever/spot starter
  14. he officially signs the deal if he passes the physical, results come out today after that, its the 5pm press conference at Fenway and then I guess he'll meet his teammates, get accustomed to the city, etc.
  15. well, I e-mailed the link to WEEI and Glenn Ordway said he heard about it from a listener e-mailing it to him while he was talking to John Henry so I guess he was referring to me then they just had someone on The Herd on ESPN Radio talking about the hysteria that took place in Boston yesterday and he mentioned how fans were tracking the flight online
  16. That flight tracker link that was posted here got national media attention, that's hilarious
  17. I do like the fact that it's only mid-December and we only have our bullpen to worry about now. I'm not too worried
  18. I love Pedroia and I think he will be great but the only thing that leaves me uneasy is that they're relying on a rookie to be an everyday player for them in a year where it really seems like they're going for it all
  19. exactly, there are tons of revenue streams available that cant be touched by revenue-sharing hell, have NESN follow Dice-K around for a year and call it a reality show and sell the f***er to Japan
  20. I think it's being ignorant to look at it like the Sox are spending $103 million for a player because essentially, they're paying $103 million for a player AND access to new revenue streams. This isn't like paying your typical free agent pitcher with similar potential and attributes
  21. the market hasn't really gone down, just the talent of the free agent pool fluctuates
  22. hence the emoticon... but yea, he's done in a Sox uni unless he takes a Wade Miller-esque deal and we find ourselves in a position where were desperate for a starter after this year
  23. I'm gonna be pissed if technically we could've gotten Vernon Wells for just 4 mil more a year than JD Drew is getting just as good, probably better, in the field and a significantly better bat not to mention would look a lot better wearing the #10 for the Sox than Coco does
  24. Henry was just on WEEI denying the deal but obviously no Red Sox official will confirm the deal until the physical has taken place
