  1. Tris Speaker had 16 30-double seasons and 10 40-double seasons Pete Rose had 15 30-double seasons and 7 40-double seasons I imagine those two are at, or near, the top
  2. between the injuries that Beckett, Lowrie, Lowell, Ortiz and Drew (and those are the guys we've heard about) were playing with, I wouldve loved to have seen what this team could have done if they were healthy
  3. That's really not a very nice thing to say at all.
  4. all the experts got it wrong. the sexy picks of almost all of them coming into this year were Detroit, Seattle, Atlanta and Cleveland, combined record: 288-360
  5. I believe they have a peach one
  6. unless Alex Cora has come out and said he's willing to retire as a player to coach, I find it extremely disrespectful to the guy to speculate that he should become the new first base coach
  7. its in the CBA that dip is allowed so if MLB tried to legislate it at all, theyd have to go through the PA
  8. regardless of how bad he was in the postseason, pitching with a torn oblique takes some serious f***ing balls his ALCS Game 6 performance is up there with Schilling in my book
  9. Heathcliff Slocumb
  10. Kevin Cash was pretty solid at catching him, there weren't many passed balls He allowed 60 walks in 181 IP, an average of 0.33 walks per inning. Compatively, Jon Lester walked 66 in 210 IP, an average of 0.31 walks per inning. Pretty much a wash and I don't think anyone would complain about Lester's walks. If he left the ball on a tee, he'd have a much worse ERA than 4.13 and would have allowed a lot more than 1.2 HRs per 9 IP yea, he's frustrating to watch cause he throws 65 MPH and is easy to steal on but year in and year out you know you're getting 180 IP, 10-12 wins and a low to mid 4s ERA from him and for $4 mil, these days thats a hell of a bargain
  11. Find me a 5th starter on any other team you'd rather have than Wakefield.
  12. There still seems to be a large percentage of people who believe the Sox should have dealt with whatever crap Manny was pulling cause he would've turned it on for them down the stretch on the field. As long as people like that still believe that, Schilling should keep speaking out about Manny.
  13. that's some pretty big balls on the kid, I must say
  14. career NLer with shoulder issues coming to the AL East? meh... thats the kind of risk small-market teams should take
  15. http://www.epicfuckingfail.com/jpgs/epic_fail072.jpg
  16. He's also hesitant to overpay for a player outside of the organization with prospects which leads me to believe it's either Varitek, an MiLB platoon or a washed-up free agent catcher no one else wants
  17. Theo kind of hinted that they'll probably have to hold onto Varitek
