  1. And in the end, it's probably during the spring. Instead of training and getting in shape with their teams in Florida or Arizona, they do it in the WBC
  2. its an event organized by MLB, why would they have the WBC directly compete with the pennant races?
  3. There isn't a good time of year when teams want their pitchers putting even more wear on their arms.
  4. Can't be good news for Cadillac
  5. That's the problem with the WBC, there is no better time of year.
  6. While it's besides the point, you can't really argue Lowrie is better than Cabrera right now But my entire point is Cabrera is better than Lugo, I don't even know why Lowrie is being mentioned
  7. He's still better than Lugo. The only place Lugo has Cabrera beat is OBP. Other than that, Cabrera is better defensively and has more pop. Also, Nomar is close to a deal with the A's to backup/platoon with Chavez
  8. My point was the disparity in salary between two guys who differ significantly in talent. I know it's different economic times but a lot of guys are still cashing in big so the fact that Lugo makes more than twice what Cabrera makes surprises me a bit
  9. none of you would take Cabrera over Lugo right now?
  10. I see your point. I'm just sayin'
  11. Ironically, the Yankees got Chacon by trading Ramon Ramirez... But wasn't Chacon acquired after being DFAed? Every single team trades for guys who have been DFAed
  12. Orlando Cabrera's 2009 salary: $4 million Julio Lugo's 2009 salary: $9 million just saying...
  13. I was sympathetic to Cutler before I heard the report that he asked for a trade cause I couldn't possibly imagine why Denver would want to replace Cutler with Cassel but he's in no place to be making demands when you've barely gotten your feet wet in the NFL
  14. thats a fair example
  15. I'm not too big on accusing guys of doping based on how different they looked back when they were 21, it's pretty common for a person's body to continue developing past the age of 21. I'd think if anyone, especially a prominent player, was on something while playing in Boston or New York, there would at least be whispers simply because of the fishbowl markets those two are. Some have whispered Damon simply because of how he's broken down in the past couple of years but look at how he played in Boston, it isn't that surprising.
  16. Saying the teams have reversed roles would imply that the Sox used to be the ones throwing massive amounts of money at prized free agent pitchers.....which they've never done
  17. Dodgers owner Frank McCourt on the Manny negotiations lol
  18. An argument can be made that either Halladay, Beckett, Lester, Sabathia, Shields or Kazmir will be the AL's best pitcher this season, all coming from the AL East
  19. it's a bold prediction but it wouldn't totally shock me
  20. yea, I pretty much do the same. I make one trip to Toronto and one trip to Boston every summer
  21. That's exactly what I was thinking. What's next? He'll refuse to pitch on three consecutive days cause it might hinder his long-term earning potential?
  22. I like the decision of him not to play but this guy is so money-driven, it's incredible
