I'm listening right now and I just don't understand this strategy.
He's dodging every question when clearly, the best course of action is to be up front and honest about it. Why let public opinion dictate how you are viewed? If you let public opinion dictate how you're viewed, you will ALWAYS be viewed in the worst possible light. Like the example question rician blast said above:
Q:"What was the benefit of the substance you took?"
Why not answer:
A:"My understanding of steroids was that they make you a better player overall. They make you faster and stronger. At that age, I may not have considered the harm they do or how it could haunt me in the future but as a kid breaking in, I was looking for every advantage I could get."
There you go. An honest answer and one where if everyone took a step back and listened to what he was saying, they could completely understand and relate. Instead, he spouts ******** about steroids being a placebo. He couldn't possibly take a worse PR hit than he already has unless he was lying in what he told Gammons. But every question at that interview was leading him to elaborate on what he's already admitted to.
