  1. Not that I remember the specific details of what happened back then but once the Yankees were made aware that Rodriguez was available, would having a third baseman that hit .254 for them really have stopped them from getting A-Rod?
  2. oh for f***'s sake, is Owens really gonna have Shaun Hill throwing to him?
  3. I'll put aside the irrelevance of listing his talent-related credentials and use it in my argument. Doesn't the fact that he was waived despite having all this talent speak volumes as to what a selfish prick he is? Doesn't the fact that he only had one suitor and was only able to get a two-year deal despite all this talent speak volumes as to what a selfish prick he is?
  4. TO will be a Raider, bet on it
  5. Yes. He's a sack of s*** who will be complaining about something by May. He'll probably say something about Jeff Kent not liking Dominicans and then someone will have to remind him Jeff Kent doesn't play baseball anymore
  6. I personally think part of him is happy he can be in the headlines for something that isn't steroid-related and if it turns out he misses four months, he'll be happy he can be away from the media
  7. That, my friend, remains a mystery
  8. he wasn't drunk, he made far too few spelling mistakes. caps lock doesn't mean intoxication
  9. So you want to start a thread about a conspiracy theory but discourage any discussion for or against your argument?
  10. That's Mr. Rule V Adam Stern
  11. I don't think steroid-use leads to many hip injuries
  12. After seeing how Lowell played last year with this thing, how will A-Rod possibly get through the entire season and maybe playoffs with this?
  13. Cashman said if A-Rod needs surgery during the season for his torn labrum, which will need surgery eventually, he'll be out 4 months And Canada beat the US in the last WBC...
  14. Wow, one awkward defensive play at third base could knock him out for awhile. This should be interesting.
  15. Yea, but A-Rod's positive test didn't come when the steroid policy was in effect, it came back in 2003. He got caught during survey testing, they don't even have the grounds to suspend him.
  16. If this were true, don't you think MLB would want to advertise A-Rod being suspended? Don't you think that makes a hell of a statement that MLB is so serious about cleaning up the same that even the almighty A-Rod will pay for cheating? If you think they would hide it to avoid A-Rod getting more bad PR, well how much worse can the public perception of A-Rod possibly get?
  17. They save $2 mil against the cap for releasing Williams to soften the TO blow a bit
  18. It's gonna be a nightmare of a season for A-Rod. Hopefully that affects the rest of the team
  19. SP's report on Lars Anderson Seems pretty unbiased to me considering how many people talk about him like he's Jesus with a bat
  20. He had 15 walks and 114 Ks in 113 IP last year so at least his command seems better than Dice-K's
  21. Bruins - Got a little more depth, a little more experience and a little more character. I would've expected them to improve more on defense but the bottom line is they were a better team than they were yesterday. New Jersey - They're set as far as I'm concerned. Brodeur looks as good as ever and Havelid shores up their defense nicely. Flyers - Needed to improve their defense more, McLaren isn't enough. Carcillo gives them a bit more sandpaper which is always nice. Sharks - Getting rid of McLaren means nothing, he was in the minors anyway. Getting Moen was a nice little move, gives them another depth forward which they needed (that's the only reason Claude Lemieux was there) and he won a cup with Anaheim two years ago. Caps - Didn't do anything. Could've added a power forward, another defenceman and goaltending. Detroit - Didn't do anything. Didn't need to do anything. Goaltending has sucked but it will be good enough for them in the playoffs. Calgary - Addressed every need they had. Definitely improved themselves the most but aren't quite on the level of Detroit and San Jose.
  22. So did Ference but Yelle and Recchi are the only guys with that cup-winning experience
  23. Recchi gives the locker room some experience. He's now the only guy on the Bruins roster, besides just Yelle I think, that's actually won a Cup
