  1. a catcher stealing 18 bases is unconventional too
  2. RED SOX Ellsbury, CF Pedroia, 2B Ortiz, DH Youkilis, 1B Bay, LF Drew, RF Lowell, 3B Varitek, C Lugo, SS SP - Lester BLUE JAYS Scutaro, SS Hill, 2B Rios, RF Wells, CF Lind, DH Rolen, 3B Millar, 1B Barajas, C Bautista, LF SP -- Ray
  3. no, I'm suggesting working out the kinks of trying to master his new pitches in AAA rather than getting shelled in the show. and he isn't doing "good", he had an OK start last night after a few not OK starts
  4. WB, batting Wieters 5th despite not having a single major league AB?
  5. 8 dingers for Mauer already in only 70 ABs. Not bad for a guy who's never hit more than 13 in a season
  6. Putting him in the bullpen is just pure stupidity by whoever brought that up. He isn't a two-pitch pitcher, he's got a full arsenal of effective pitches
  7. I just quoted someone else's post and filled in my players with the coding
  8. its funny how for weeks now, no announcer ever called him Big Papi anymore and if you listen to just about every broadcast call of the HR, its all FINALLY, BIG PAPI HITS ONE!
  9. It's hard to jump to a negative conclusion with a guy who is still only 23 and has destroyed the minors but the Yankees are potentially making a huge mistake by making this guy master his new pitches in the bigs and getting shelled at the same time
  10. I wouldn't say Santana is a sure fire HOFer either
  11. I saw this Ray guy pitch against Chicago last week, he sucks hard
  12. probably not, let another team overpay for him then
  13. my point is that there is enough evidence to make a legitimate argument that he can be at least an average catcher defensively over the next 5 years considering he's the full-time catcher on my hypothetical team
  14. I never saw him catch in the minors either but from the stats I looked at and the scouting reports I read, he can hold his own. He allowed 23 PBs in 176 minor league games with a caught 38% of guys trying to steal off him. Scouts say he can be a serviceable catcher and would be SF's catcher if they didn't have Molina.
  15. indeed, looking forward more to seeing how he feels tomorrow as opposed to how he performs tonight
  16. yea I know, im just not used to the team winning when I start GTs
  17. Jon Lester (2-4, 6.51) vs. Bobby Ray (1-1, 3.60) win.
  18. Kilo, I believe there's a mistake with the 3-hole of your lineup
  19. MLB.com is reporting that Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda are at least part of the package headed the other way I'm curious to see how Peavy handles the switch to the AL. He's benefitted from a weak-hitting division and a pitcher's park as his career road splits aren't nearly as good as his home splits.
  20. pretty formidable rotation Peavy Buerhle Danks Floyd Colon Contreras looks to be done
  21. ok, and why don't you think Sandoval can be, at the very least, a serviceable major league catcher over the next 5 years? and going back to yesterday, why am I a hypocrite for arguing that Upton is more proven in the big leagues than Butler?
  22. 1. Sandoval has played a dozen games at catcher in the majors and has only played about a full season, so you're wrong there. 2. Sandoval was a pretty solid minor league catcher with an outstanding CS% and the only reason he doesn't play the position more in the majors is cause the Giants' best hitter is a catcher. 3. Kilo said to post only once in the lineup/rotation thread. Way to go, sport. 4. I'm still waiting to see your reasoning in batting Butler 3rd when you said you don't need to bat him higher than 6th.
