  1. Mauer is playing out of his f***ing mind right now, I wouldnt blame Papelbon as much as I normally would for giving up a two-run shot
  2. Most players struggle with consistency through the early part of their careers. It's a chess match between pitchers making adjustments and the hitters counter-acting those adjustments. Pedroia was hitting .260 around this time last year.
  3. the only thing different has been a diminished ability to get on base but that could come with time but so far in his career, he is hitting for average
  4. cause he doesnt get on base enough as a leadoff hitter but pitchers are gonna be very reluctant to nibble with him due to his speed. he'll always need a very good BABIP
  5. Pedroia is becoming the toughest out in baseball, its even better when they arent pitching around him to get to Ortiz actually, Youkilis might be the toughest out in baseball
  6. TJ happened, still hasnt fully recovered Ellsbury is quietly becoming a hell of a hitter
  7. thats the problem when a team that doesnt sacrifice faces a strikeout pitcher
  8. something going here in the 2nd
  9. no Mauer for the Twins today, thank god
  10. bottom line, they arent and they shouldnt do anything to help Ortiz at the expense of the team's chances of winning games.
  11. yea it can, cause you go from having GG defense at first to less then mediocre defense
  12. Francona will blame it on the lefty but yea.....lame
  13. Ellsbury-CF Pedroia-2B Youkilis-3B Bay-LF Lowell-DH Baldelli-RF Varitek-C Bailey-1B Lugo-SS Penny-SP Ortiz dropped altogether for now
  14. Wang's velocity was down and he had a leg injury last year. Ortiz's bat speed is down and he had a wrist injury last year. They could just make up some s*** like the Yanks did with Wang and put Ortiz in Pawtucket to "regain wrist strength" or something and I believe Ortiz would be all for it if that's what the Sox think would be best.
  15. out of all the stereotypical white guys, you go with Kevin Bacon?
  16. yea, Tek pretty much either hits it out or heads back to the dugout. Minimal damage
  17. Ortiz 0-5, 8 LOB. thats a problem
  18. until Lowrie comes back or they make a trade for a guy like Vizquel like now, we will be a liability at short and it will cost us games
  19. I think NESN is glad Youk didnt say "f***ing cocksucking s*** bucket" instead
  20. ummm Eck, you cant say "s***" on TV
  21. I can live with that I love Eck, "I'd be embarassed to take that for a strike"
  22. just got home, whats the velocity look like?
  23. I gotta say, im not impressed with the Mets lineup without Reyes
