  4. I wonder if Tazawa will be promoted this season, he seems to be doing well
  5. That would be exactly a sign that he's fatigued. Control tends to go before velocity.
  6. To me, it all depends on the quality of your closer and the depth of your bullpen. If you have a clear cut guy who is the "ace" of your bullpen, I think definitely he should be used in say the 7th or 8th inning if the heart of the order is up. But you need a reliable guy to get what are the most important outs of the game in the 9th, not some schmuck who cracks under the crowd noise in the 9th.
  7. and Kessel is just 21 but yet you're pass judgment on him like he won't improve his game but Krejci will?
  8. I would say Kessel over Lucic. I think both guys are equally valuable to the Bruins but guys with Lucic's skill set are easier to find than guys with Kessel's skill set
  9. hand-eye coordination means the ability to put the sweet spot of the bat on the ball, it has nothing to do with bat speed.
  10. congrats YOTN nice start by Ells
  11. indeed no Ortiz... Red Sox 1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF 2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B 3. J.D. Drew, RF 4. Jason Bay, LF 5. Mike Lowell, 3B 6. Rocco Baldelli, DH 7. Julio Lugo, SS 8. Jason Varitek, C 9. Jeff Bailey, 1B -- Jon Lester, SP Mariners 1. Ichiro Suzuki, RF 2. Jose Lopez, 2B 3. Mike Sweeney, DH 4. Adrian Beltre, 3B 5. Wladimier Balentien, LF 6. Russell Branyan, 1B 7. Kenji Johjima, C 8. Yuniesky Betancourt, SS 9. Franklin Gutierrez, CF -- Chris Jakubauskas, SP
  12. wow, Lopez actually cleared waivers. He's off to Pawtucket
  13. sort of a homecoming for Lester, he'd better be up for the game
  14. the fact that you mentioned even the slightest possibility the Jays would trade Halladay within the division gave you away in my eyes
  15. congrats to him. now that he's in AA, I'll officially start to pay attention to him.
  16. he has been pretty injury-prone though
  17. they might as well make up an injury and send him to Pawtucket
  18. it surprises me that the PA agreed to a drug policy that allows baseball to suspend guys even if no banned substance is found in their system... so why the hell did drop his plan to appeal then?
  19. time will tell... anyway, I took Buerhle cause I figure I need at least one lefty and Mark is a lock for 200 IP a year and an ERA in the mid to high 3s. Plus he's still only 30
  20. and Id say considering the state of that franchise, he's more likely to be moved during his prime years and if he hasnt put up 300/30/100 at Coors, he won't do it dont get me wrong, its not a bad pick by any means. good enough production for a corner outfielder and a wonderfully underrated OBP guy who should still be producing through age 35. just dont skew what he is
  21. Penny is rocking a 6.69 ERA and had to sign a one-year, incentive-laden deal in the off-season just to stay in the big leagues. If such little interest was shown in him when all a team had to give up was money, why would his value be increased in the trade market?
  22. why is that a very real possibility? he's never done it
  23. What use would Texas have for Brad Penny? Where are they going this year and in the foreseeable future?
  24. Hunter Jones shouldn't have a spot in what is probably the best bullpen in baseball when healthy
  25. cause that's just not gonna happen, at least not as long as Selig is the commissioner.
