THHHHHEEEEEEEEEE YANNNKKKEEEEEEEES LOOOOOSE!!!!!!! The collapse is less painful right now
-
This wouldnt have happened if they did. They dropped a 9 game lead with 30 days left in the season.

The biggest problem with the 2011 RedSox, No f***ing Heart. Watch these videos, watch a few players in Boston history who had heart and gave a s*** about winning. Drinking in the clubhouse, yeah......so what. Who gives a s*** when you care about Boston, when you care about your team, when you care about legacy.....when you care about winning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJrZDR0xmug http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnL3lcdjdDs&feature=fvst Money dont buy rings, money dont buy cups, money dont buy banners, money dont buy superbowls....... and REAL redsox fans dont give a s*** about the money the organization makes with: seasons ticket holders, consecutive sellout streak, "bricks", literal "Pink" Sox hats, merchandise, Neil Diamond and his s***** Sweet Caroline song, "dating" at Fenway and everything else the RedSox have become since we have won anything of note. In the end, its what you have in your heart, and what values you have invested in your team. T.E.A.M. Not Ortiz's 100 RBIS. Not Lackeys 13 wins regardless of a 6+ ERA. Not Wakefield's 200 wins. Not worrying about benching Varitek because he is a captain. The right mix, no matter what the salaries are or the ability, no matter what the popularity or publicity.....wins. I dont give a s*** about anything of the other ********. Injuries? Excuses. Blow it up, put it together and win......like so many other Boston franchises have done in the last decade.
-
A platoon of Coco and Reddick? I guess a 90 win team was not disappointing enough, we are aiming for 85 wins with that platoon. Dojji, you have some pretty bad ideas sometimes.
-
This is the s*** I am talking about, blow that f***ing thing up. No more comfy couches, no more "family" trips. No family should be allowed on the same flight as players. No more PS3 and luxuries in the clubhouse. No more food/beverages in the locker room til the game is over. Players should even be allowed in the clubhouse unless they are getting treatment or taking a s***. No more cabs after games, all the f***ing players ride together. How embarrassing.....what a f***ing disgrace this team was. I end with this......anyone remember Kevin Youkilis's first career home run? Got the intentional "cold shoulder" and Youk was giving "high fives" to the air.....only to have the entire team swarm him and congratulate him. Lavarnaway got a cold shoulder, only this time....the team meant it, f*** this current group of players.

Which players ended up costing Francona his job?

http://sportsofboston.com/2011/10/01/video-kevin-fowler-red-sox-sing-hell-yeah-i-like-beer/ Exhibit A, B, C, D, E. Embarrassing. A special thanks to those players at the end of the video as well, how cute. -
I can be very optimistic, I dont consider myself pessimistic.....I consider myself objective. I react to what I see, not what the front office wants me to see. I have no problem with Lavarnaway getting AB's. Kalish, I am more comfy with him being a 4th option at this point. Iglesias, while he might have a HOF glove, cant even hit his weight.

Better yet, join us for the Ravens V. Jets game.....plenty of football to talk over there.

Which players ended up costing Francona his job?
SCM33 replied to SCM33's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
Guys, in reality, its not going to take the Hardy Boys to figure out exactly what went wrong here. Its pretty simple. David Ortiz John Lackey Kevin Youkilis Tim Wakefield Josh Beckett Thats the list of players who are current members, or could be members of next years club. The good thing is that Wakefield and Ortiz are possibly coming off the books. That leaves: Lackey Youkilis Beckett Lackey will NOT be a member of this team come next year. Youkilis may be a member, as a DH/corner infielder. They will explore trade options for Youkilis for all the reasons already mentioned in this thread. Beckett will be a member of this team, and his attitude/demeanor will be a product of the supporting cast around him. Next year we could see a team that ONLY consists a combination of Beckett, Youkilis/Ortiz. Cut the fat, cut the cancer and lets move on. I keep saying, blow it up......new blood, new players, new voices. Changes need to be made. -
yup, I was making my post as you replied. Spring cleaning, everyone is a target....feeling comfortable? Dont....make sure your bags are packed just in case.

Drew sucked, Renteria sucked for his lone year and they quit to quickly on, Lugo sucked, Dice-K sucked. The jury is out on CC, but not Lackey. He was the WORST starting pitcher in baseball. If he were average, yeah the jury is out. He was the WORST pitcher in the game. Some of Theos moves not to forget: John Lackey Edgar Renteria BK Kim Jd Drew Julio Lugo Daisuke Matsuzaka Jeff Suppan Scott Sauerbeck Rudy Seanez (twice) Ramiro Mendoza Bronson Arroyo Matt Clement Kelly Shoppach (trading away for Coco Crisp) Coco Crisp Craig Hansen (most overhyped Sox draft pick ever?) Cla Merideth (rush him, maybe ruined his career, then traded him) Alex Gonzalez (letting him go, twice) Orlando Cabrera (letting him go) Wily Mo Pena (aquired in Arroyo trade) Joel Pineiro (and announcing him as the closer in spring training) Eric Gagne Justin Masterson (trading him away) Victor Martinez (allowing him to leave) Adrian Beltre (allowing him to leave) Brad Penny John Smoltz Ramon Ramirez (trading him away in the middle of playoff race) Takashi Saito (not re-signing him) David Murphy (trading him away) Like I have said. Blow the thing up. Theo did a great job developing talent a few years back....but what has that produced lately? NOTHING. They arent developing, they are trading away their top draft picks, he cant build a bullpen, he cant trade and he hasnt hit on a free agent in YEARS. Cya later Theo..........when I say BLOW IT UP, I mean it. This does not start and end with Tito and Theo either........Lackey, your ass is next. Players will be held accountable as well. Its about f***ing time they do something to fix this damn team. 2 years of ******** will finally come to an end.

No I get it. You dont my friend. The Sox were disappointing this season. Rather than trying to figure out what happened and hold someone accountable and ask questions, you blast others who do so. You really think this is the best they were capable of? Stop making excuses and ask the same questions that all of us are. We pay these guys salaries, we show up to the park as do you. This season was not acceptable. This was a colossal failure and disaster. "On pace" means nothing. In the end, this club had the worst collapse of any team in baseball history. Thats BASEBALL as you say. Again, questioning other fans loyalty to this club will get you in trouble here. "Shrugging your shoulders, giving them a pat on the back, and looking forward to the Spring" is what management wants you to do. How about you step outside the box, look at this team and ask questions? What happened this year is a disgrace to the franchise and a slap in the face to the fanbase and people need to be held accountable and questions need to be answered. It was an "incredible and highly talented group of guys" who did not get the job done. In the end, they failed miserably. I do not know your intentions here, but you can either be against us......be against the same people who root for the same team you and piss people off or join this forum and try to understand that not every fan has the same opinion as you do. We are all pissed off/disappointed. Every fan expresses their emotion a different way. Do not criticize others if their opinion isnt the same as yours. I hope you continue to post here my friend, as it appears that you care about this team just as much as the rest of us, but challenging all of us will accomplish nothing. In the end, we are all RedSox fans.
-
First off, you were arguing with a Yankees fan. Second off, you need to take down the blinders there tough guy. Dirty hat since 1999?.....oh boy, thats the sign of a true sox fan right there. Are you sure its not one of those new "aged" hats that Lids sells? Sweet Caroline is the ultimate "I dont know s***" about the RedSox and their history chant....by the way...you have fun watching the Sox get their asses kicked going 5-26 in their last 31 games? You want to stand up and sing Sweet Caroline during the worst baseball collapse in the history of the game? I am no stat geek, and I argue with quite a few members on this board about being pinkhats and objective and realistic, but you are not going to come in here and generalize everyone my friend. Nobody here has said they should "own" the RedSox. BTW, over the last 3 years....the Boston RedSox have the second most money spent in terms of player salaries and have NOT WON A SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME.

Francona: "I felt frustrated with my inability to reach maybe guys that I’ve been able to in the past, or affect the outcome a little bit more differently and that bothers me." http://www.tweetdeck.com/twitter/PeteAbe/~dCgFo Which players is Tito referring to? More and more will come out, but todays stories of drinking in the clubhouse during games and players who were not "at playing" weight surfaced today. Which players on this team cost Francona his job? Obviously you cant blame the players completely but something went wrong here. Wakefield? I think there is no way in hell he is back. He has been sour for years concerning his role. Maybe he let his goal of 200 wins get in the way of what was best for the team? I believe he was quoted as the fans "deserve" to see him 200 games, and all that did was point a bulls eye on Tito. Wake...fans deserved a winning team, not a floundering pitcher. Varitek? The "go ask the captain" comment is a little striking from Crawford. Maybe there is more towards that comment in terms of Varitek that we dont know about. Ortiz? He has been a grown child for over 2 years now. Even after Tito is gone Ortiz throws a jab that he was "unhappy" about being benched for parts of last season even when it was clear he could not hit lefties. Youkilis? Yeah, he appears edgy, a dirt dog, and has a mean "grind it out" personality on the field. Maybe that personality wore thin with teammates and coaches. Beckett? Texas tough guy. I suspect he was one of those beer drinkers. Overall, a good year......but one has to wonder if he contributed to the poison that killed this team. Lackey? Absolutely 100%. f*** this guy. He sucked and wanted to be treated like a prima dona. He showed up teammates, umpires and his own coach EVERY start he made. I suspect him to be Becketts drinking buddy during games. To boot, he filed for divorce while his wife is fighting cancer.......months after he used his concern of her as an excuse for pitching poorly. f*** you Lackey, pack your bags you scumbag. Drew? He never really gave a s*** about the game. He was never in the dugout. Maybe his absence and "injury" sent the wrong message to the rest of the team like, "well f*** it, if JD can make 14 million and not do s*** and not be around the club, I can act the same way". Look at the players answers regarding the heartbreaking loss to the Orioles. Look who actually spoke. Those are the ones who actually cared. Pedey, Papelbon, Gonzalez (even though his comments were embarrassing), Lester and Crawford (who genuinely seemed to care). Those are the players who cared. Goodbye to Varitek, Wakefield, Lackey, Drew, Youkilis and Ortiz. I think Beckett can be saved with the right surrounding cast. I understand that me saying goodbye to Youkilis and Ortiz is going to piss some people off, but lets face it.....while we love Youkilis, other teams hate him.....umpires cant stand his constant bitching and it could be possible that his demeanor extends inside his own clubhouse. Who knows what does inside those walls.....throw in the fact that his body is breaking down at an incredibly fast rate, and it might be time. He cant stay on the field, hes getting older, his numbers were down and he looks like a beer league softball player. Who knows what he looks like next spring, he might eat his way out of 3B. David Ortiz is a fraud in my opinion. He always has this big smile and doing his little hugs and handshakes, but I think he is not what he is selling. I think the mere fact he is playing on year to year contracts naturally makes him selfish. Even after Tito has departed, Ortiz still takes jabs at him for a diminished amount of AB's over the years. Adrian Gonzalez has to play RF even AFTER Gonzalez said he was not comfortable with it......and you know Ortiz was in Theo's ear telling him he did not want to sit during inter-league play even though Gonzalez was the better player. There is a lot to think about and digest with this team, but as the days pass it will eventually become public what the problems were. For the last 2 years I have found this team hard to watch, there is something missing.....something wrong (even though many of you disagreed with me), something not measured with stats (other than missing the playoffs 2 straight years). Hopefully finally I will get those answers and everyone else will finally see what I have seen for 2 years. This is not a told you so, this is anger/sadness. I hate the fact this happened and the departure of Tito is not good enough. Hopefully this is the first brick to fall in a list of many other bricks that MUST fall.
-
in addtion to my last post (didnt want to edit it, as people have already read it, and possibly quoted it) Brad Mills is not the answer. When I say BLOW IT UP, thats what I mean. No familiar faces or voices. Brad Mills in my opinion is much of the same. They need an outside voice. Rice is a familiar, but still outside voice.
-
You dont think Rice knows the game? The man is a hall of famer and not many know the city, the players and the organization better than Rice. Hes been with the team his whole life, and has been breaking down their games for the last few years. I am not saying that Rice will be intimidating or respected by umpires or other players. He will be by his club, that dude has a BAD temperament, just ask the Boston media during his playing days. People will not f*** with Rice and his temperament will be a breath of fresh air.
-
Jim Rice for manager..... That man is MR. RedSox.......pretty scary dude when hes pissed off too. He knows the organization, hes been a part of it his whole life.
-
I agree about Youkilis. I think his career is over pretty soon. He is a beer league softball player. His body is breaking down and he is not a 3B. He is no spring chicken either, he will be 33 next year. I think 1 of those 2 are here next year....and they are DH'ing.....which pisses me off because we could have kept VMART or BELTRE last year to be doing the same thing.
-
Its sad Tito is going, but at this point....he clearly lost control of those pussy coward bitches in the locker room. Those guys did whatever the hell they wanted to do and he is not imposing enough to stop that thing from spiraling downward. Throw in the fact that he has some serious health issues, and it pisses me off even more that that team walked all over him. Tito should walk out the door with both middle fingers in the air and personally tell John Lackey to go f*** himself for insulting Tito with those "faces" he made every time he made a pitching change after Lackey gave up 6 ER in 3 innings. Sorry Old Yeller, it was your time.....but thank you for everything you have done Tito, you will forever be a legend around here. Thank you for 2004 and 2007 as well as winning baseball since the day you took over. For all we know, Tito might want out.......who the f*** would want to coach the most unlikable group of players since the 2001 group with Lansing, Hillenbrand, Everett, Offerman, Bichette, Arrojo, Cone and Nomo.
-
ALL KINDS OF REPORTS OUT THERE TONIGHT REGARDING FRANCONA. Terry Francona is all done. He will not be fired, but his option will not be picked up. In my opinion, not good enough. He was a lame duck. BLOW THE WHOLE DAMN THING UP!!!!!!
-
Jim Rice for manager. Hes been with the team his whole career and post career. Hes a hall of fame player. He is respected and an imposing figure. I doubt Ortiz challenges Rice the way he does Francona.
-
Saltys catcher ERA????? 4.63 Variteks catcher ERA??? 3.85 Salty in September....18 of 26 possible games started. .162 BA, .368 SLG, .174 OB%, .542 OPS Top 5 catcher!!!!
-
Hahaha, dont worry bud, its just baseball. Dont be sad, be mad. I am not heartbroken....I am ******** that these spineless, heartless, bitch cowards allowed this to happen. (did that sound gangsta?, thats embarrassing considering I carry a badge at work haha!!) Drew will be gone, DiceK has the chance to be gone, Lackey will be gone, Salty will be gone, Varitek will be gone, Wakefield will be gone, almost the entire bullpen will be replaced, Tito will be gone, the players lounge wont be so comfy.....those are good things. Maybe the real RedSox club returns last year, the last 2 years of FRAUDS will become a memory of the past. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. 2 straight years of this ********? Someone needs to pay, someone needs to be held accountable. No more excuses.
