  1. General baseball question for everyone. If a player hits under .240, gets on base at less than a .290 clip (
  2. I think Farrell is a good fit for the team. You cant blame 2010 on Farrell, he was the pitching coach, For all we know that s*** might have been one of the reasons he decided to leave Boston rather than wait it out with Tito. Farrell by all accounts, is a disciplinarian.....which is good, especially since he is not a smaller fragile guy like Tito. Farrell is a 6'4 220 pound dude, he is a presence. Farrell would be a good fit. He knows the players, he knows the system. Dont blame Titos funhouse in 2010 and 2011 on Farrell.
  3. Sox should kick the tires on both guys. Oswalt is better than arguably 3 outta 5 starters next year, especially if Beckett and Lackey are out of the mix (traded). Lidge should be brought in and asked if he has any interest being a setup guy. Bard should not (and I cant friggin believe people still think he can do it) ever be given a shot to close. He is not a closer. He is a setup guy and his home/road splits are insane. Hes unhittable at home in front of the home crowd. Hes merely average to below average on the road. A closer needs to be a closer all the time, not 50% of the time.
  4. non tender Salty? I like it.
  5. Regardless of this season, Gonzalez was the right fit. Theo had been targeting him for years prior to last offseason.
  6. Quoting these posts to bump them ahead of the trash that spilled over from "their" old s***** forum. Click on the little blue arrow next to the username to bring the convo back to the original post for quoting purposes.
  7. Between 1997 and 2003, he was the best ever.
  8. Most loved teammate? John Lackey http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/2011_1021most_loved_teammate_yup_lackey/ They ABSOLUTELY need to move him. He is the most liked teammate which means if he stays, the players will be happy. The great thing is that he absolutely sucks so its a win win. Send a message to the clubhouse, piss off the players AND you ride yourself of a heaping pile of Chunk from the goonies garbage.
  9. Pitching Coach Curt Young is gone. Another step towards changing the clubhouse culture. He was great with younger kids in Oakland, they walked all over him in his only year here.
  10. The alcohol is not the root of the problem. The real problem is changing the attitude and culture of the locker room. I dont care what they do as long as they are a team and they are winning. The drinking in the clubhouse in this instance was done by a selfish clique of players which by the looks of it, divided the clubhouse into different groups.
  11. Thank you for your service. This is an exciting time around here. A lot of new members as of late.
  12. I doubt it was one of Epsteins people. This reflects poorly on Theo just as it does Tito. Theo is after all, the guy who put this mess together. I doubt his people leaked this s***. Had Theo left for the Cubs and THEN the stories came out, I would agree.
  13. You are right, its not just about beer and chicken. Its about the culture of the clubhouse, unfortunately those 2 things best describe this years team. They need to change the culture of the clubhouse. The ringleaders and the guys who have been there for too long and are too comfortable need to go. If you are not producing and are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.
  14. It took a while, but you are thinking like me finally. Its nice not arguing about the truth!
  15. I dont give a s*** what the 2004 Redsox did, or what Bill Lee did. This years team did those things, and they finished in 3rd place and to boot, they stopped their conditioning programs and gained 10-20 lbs of fat from fried chicken and bud heavys.
  16. changes.....thats what I want.
