  1. This sucks. This pretty much put a damper on any other kind of big move to their lineup. Ortiz cant play any other position and Youkilis will miss half the season with an assortment of injuries instead of DH'ing. Another year of listening to him bitch about sitting 80% of the time during interleague games....another year of forcing Adrian Gonzalez to play RF bc Ortiz is too selfish to realize how much it could hurt the team. Another year of bitching about RBI's during post game conferences. I am not happy with this. If they are going to pay the guy 15M frigging dollars a year, why not target someone like Aramis Ramirez so they can rotate Youkilis and him between 3B and DH? At least Ramirez gives you some flexibility between 1B, 3B and DH.
  2. Oh come on, the media of this city put him and his family through hell about that when the losing of the WS was not even his fault. The guy was a borderline HOF player and we would be lucky to have him teaching the guys his knowledge. Not many borderline HOF players are hitting coaches minus Don Baylor and Chili Davis...why not add him as a first basecoach and help out some of the guys with their hitting along with Magadan?
  3. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/15564/sox-coaching-staff-bill-buckner-an-option I love it. First base coach, or hitting coach....or a little of both.
  4. Yeah, the way they played and collapsed at the end of the year really showed it. They really truly cared about him. Give me a break, to this day not one of those players has said a word about the firing of Tito.....they didnt give a s***. In fact, players like Ortiz have come out and said they had "differences" about the way he was being used. I was a little hesitant about Bobby V........but I am fully on board. No matter how this turns out this year, he was the right guy for the job. If they players tank again this year, and they finish 3rd place....its on them, not Bobby. Hopefully some changes are made this offseason before they can sabotage the season. Wake is already gone. Varitek is already gone. Get Beckett the hell out of here next.....and next year when Lackeys arm heals trade him to the Australian league for a bag of balls and a pitcher with no arms. David Ortiz is still a mixed bag. Personally, Id like to see them move on from him. We've been handicapped by the Wakefields, Mirabellis, Variteks, Becketts and Ortiz's long enough. No more special needs, no more babying, no more coddling.....time to move on. I am excited. Part of the job is done.....finish it off.....please get our team back, no more Jerry Springer ********. Time to get ready to play ball
  5. Well, you're gunna be shocked then.
  6. EDIT: MODS PLEASE CHANGE TITLE TO: Players unhappy with Valentine as manager? Idiot me...sorry MODS.
  7. This article was copy and pasted from ESPN.com insider Buster Olney (your welcome for those of you who dont have it): You know what, Ive come around on this. For a little while I was against it (Valentine), then it got to the point where I really didnt give a s***, I just wanted it over. After finding out that the players were unhappy that Bobby Valentine was named manager....I am on board with the hiring. If the players dont like it, request a trade and get the hell out. The players who dont like it are most likely the same ones that were creating all of the problems last year. Maybe LL knows that last year was unacceptable. Maybe, just maybe he was stubborn in this whole manager hiring fiasco because he knew he had to have a manager to put the players in their place, and not be buddy buddy with them (Sveum was a little too close age wise to a lot of them). Maybe the manager hiring process was being used by LL as a measuring stick to gauge BC's ability to identify the glaring issues with this team, which were inside the clubhouse. Blow it up? Yeah, I said it all off season and they've been going along with that plan as I hoped (albeit a lot slower than I wished). Maybe this is a piece of that puzzle that I overlooked or did not consider. Maybe this little firecracker (Valentine) planted inside that locker room blows things up internally, rather than the baseball operations people picking it apart from the outside. Maybe we finally find out who wants to play baseball and who doesn't......who gives a s*** about winning, and who gives a s*** about collecting a paycheck. Maybe Larry Lucchino knows what hes doing after all.
  8. Honestly, it really doesnt matter who hired who.....who the manager is, who the GM is..... Doesnt matter. LL runs this team. Finally this s*** is over, biggest question.....whats next? How can they make this team better? Finally, we can move on.
  9. It was black and white though. There was no middle ground. LL wanted Valentine. LL played nice and let little Benny boy run around and think he was a real big league ballclub GM. In the end, LL got Valentine, and the whole thing was pretty embarrassing for little Benny, who in the end....had ZERO voice in the matter. The only reason it dragged was so that BC didnt look worse than he does now. For all we know Valentine knew all along and he had to play along so that BC feelings werent hurt. Come on User, this was embarrassing for BC......he had nothing to do with the hiring, he wanted nothing to do with the hiring....and in the end what he wanted didnt f***ing matter. LL runs this team.
  10. I wont argue then. I know he wasnt great....looks like we kicked the tires and didnt like what we saw. I am ok with that.
  11. Who friggin cares.........this took way too long, we already knew this was coming. BIG f***ING SHOCKER!!!! Lets start to take of the things that actually matter now. PS. This move shows us that Ben Cherington is a puppet and pretty much worthless.
  12. You arent serious are you?
  13. Id prefer they just get it over with. We all know who they are going to pick. Just get it over with so we can talk about the offseason since its clear they arent going to do a thing until the name a manager.
  14. Jonathan Broxton just signed a 1 year deal for 4 million to be a setup guy. Why didnt we take a flier on him? His days of closing are probably over, but hes still a power arm out of the pen. I guess they are still spending every single resource they have at finding a manager.
  15. Ahhhhh....if they consider hiring a manager a "big move", were f***ed. Just get the friggin thing over with, I dont even give a s*** anymore if they hire the guy (Valentine).....just get it over with.
  16. Im not....dont you understand how important and how much detail is placed on finding a manager? Its a VERY long process and has to be done very carefully because a baseball manager is one of the most important aspects of a baseball team. They make very difficult decisions such as batting lineup, warming up pitchers and know the intricate details of the ever important "double switch"........they will search for a manager all offseason, and when they eventuall find one, there will be nobody left to sign....but it doesnt matter, as long as we have a guy who can put up 4 fingers to tell Lester to intentially walk Pujols.
