1. You're right. Having an opinion is a bad thing. Please don't compare me with Fred, thats pretty much the worst insult I've ever heard. Am I not allowed to feel the way I do? It's not like I'm frontrunning, its the f***ing Cubs...and trust me, it hurts to say it, but its a matter of principle.
2. My hatred for the front office and management finally boiled over. I can no longer root for this organization unless Larry Luchinno is removed from office. I will always love the TEAM at heart, but its just not fun anymore. From this point on, I will root for Theo and Lester and the underdog Cubs. I've rooted for an underdog my entire life, and nothing will compare to the absolute joy/thrill of finally seeing a World Series winner in 2004. The ownership group has literally made it impossible to root for them. I hate the ********. I hate the 7th anniversary of 2004. I hate the 10th anniversary of 2004. I hate the shameless TV shows. I hate paying 25 dollars for a beer. I hate the highest ticket prices in baseball to watch a s***** product 3 out of the last 4 years. I hate them for Bobby Valentine. I hate them for Carl Crawford. I hate them for losing Theo. I hate them for the Terry Francona smear campaign. I hate them for "Cheerful Cody Ross" and the "Friendly Mike Aviles" and the "Inspiring Daniel Nava". I hate them for bricks and coffee table books. I hate TV ratings and sellouts. I hate the fact that they feel like they have to celebrate EVERYTHING just to put butts in seats. I hate them for Jon Lester. I hate that they went away from a baseball team, and became a business that only cares about tv ratings, revenue and sellouts consisting of 50% pink hats, 25% white collar "fans" and 25% of REAL fans. I hope you all can understand the rant. I hope to one day root for this team again, but they are pretty much everything I hate about professional sports. I think that taking an interest in the Cubs will really give me what I am missing as a fan of baseball. Passion, and love of the game...... In the end, its still a game.....a child's game. As such, it should be fun to watch. I think this will be a fun year to be a fan of baseball again. Go Cubs!!
3. Well nothing else matters until they make SIGNIFICANT upgrades. Should have started with Jon Lester. You are going to pay Hanley 22 million a year? This is the same s*** as the Crawford year. Sign Jon Lester.
4. The offseason should have started with Jon Lester. This team will be another clownshow if Laptop and Kelly are 1 and 2.
5. He will be 28 this summer. He is J.A.G
6. He will never hit. He is the best defensive 5th OF in baseball.
7. He wasn't a regular until he was 27. 3 years later he was fat and looked about 45 years old. He aged about how you should when you factor in that he got fat and had a limited skill set. Thank for the memories though YOUK
8. Marine....no. I do support what they have to deal with, regardless if you agree with why they are there.
9. I almost cried the day they traded Josh Beckett. Tears of joy...........good riddance. The members of this board who actually know who I am know, there is no love lost. There are not many Redsox players I've disliked more......Salty is right up there too....
10. We need to lock Cespedes up, not trade him. For the first time in a couple years the Sox have a legitimate right handed power bat in the lineup.....a guy who legitimately puts a fear in the opposing team. Redsox cannot draft a power bat to save their life. They have literally never been able to do it. In the few instances they have, they traded him away before they could develop him. When was the last time the Sox drafted and developed a home grown power bat? Nomar? Mo Vaughn? In Cespedes, we actually have one......him in this lineup doesn't look too shabby: CF Betts 2B Pedroia DH Ortiz LF Cespedes 1B Napoli RF Castillo SS Bogaerts 3B ?? C Vasquez JBJ, Nava, Holt, and Craig can all have spots on the bench.
11. Who is this Jeter guy everyone is still talking about? Derek Jeter retired 5 years ago......oh wait, nevermind....5 years ago was the last time he was relevant.
12. If Victorino is healthy (it would be a miracle) then he should be a platoon/4th OF. 2013 was a fluke when you look at where his career was trending. More likely is .260/.330/.400/.730 with 5-10 HR and 30-40 RBI.
13. I think there is a pretty easy way to evaluate him. The Molina scale.....they were all great defensive catchers with cannons. Jose Molina had a career line of:

.233 .282 .327 .608

Bengie has a career line of:

.274 .307 .411 .718

Yadier has a career line of:

.284 .339 .402 .741

At the age of 23 Christian Vasquez just put up a line of:

.240 .308 .309 .617

At the age of 23 Yadier Molina put up a line of:

.216 .274 .321 .595

Jose didn't see significant playing time until he was 28. Bengie didn't see significant playing time until he was 25. Catchers take a while to develop, he will eventually hit. I think he could be a similar player to Bengie Molina.
14. Middlebrooks is worth $0.00
15. Its not permanent, but I have been turned off from this management group for quite some time. The offseason before Crawford and Gonzalez really started turning me away from them. They won the WS last year, and I should be thrilled about that, but im not....because I hate the ownership group that much. Im sure you remember my absolute bashings of the front office.....well, I feel the same way. The Sox won 2 titles in their reign in spite of them, not because of them......they were too talented to f*** up. Last year was the biggest baseball fluke since Brady Anderson's 50 HR, not complaining as I enjoyed every minute of it, but a spade......is always a spade, unless David Blaine is around the corner.
16. Why would they do that, when they can just re-sign the best available SP on the market....who oh by the way, throws 96 MPH, is lefthanded and is a rare lhp with a track record of success at Fenway?
17. If they can't mend the fence and fix this, I will officially stop being a fan of the Boston Redsox until Larry Lucchino is gone. Larry Lucchino is a f***ing retard and does nothing but continuously f*** things up. Last year was beautiful when we didn't hear a word from him and they let BC run the show.....the second we win the WS last year, that f***ing retard reappears....almost trying to show that he had something to do with last years success. I'd much rather cheer for the guy who REALLY put together that 2004 World Series team, the Duke in Baltimore at Fenway south.....and whatever team Jon Lester goes to. If its the Yankees, so be it. The Redsox almost deserve to have that done to them, but the fans don't. If he goes to the Yanks, I cheer for Jon Lester....and I cheer for an organization that wants to win. Any organization that lets someone like Jon Lester walk out the door.....is comparable to the Montreal Expos letting Pedro Martinez walk out the door. Small market losers mentality. Hopefully they fix this s***.
18. What? What is so conspicuous about life occupying me and keeping me away from an internet chat forum?
19. Your right, I apologize. I was confusing the 10M that he will be paid out of the 14M remaining on the QO. I forgot that Drew rejected the QO, in the hopes of a multi year deal. Sorry for the confusion.
20. HA!
21. Hopefully he still has me blocked.
22. Well, last year seemed to work with Bogaerts at 3B and Drew at SS. WMB has never done a thing to earn a starting 3B spot and should have been dealt in the offseason which I suggested multiple times at the end of last season. He had little value then, he has zero now. Bogaerts is not a SS. He had a reputation in the minors as a below average SS and he played himself out of the position this year. We might be in a better position right now if we didn't have to deal with the WMB's, Ryan Roberts and Brock Holts of the world who literally produce nothing stacked ahead of a LF that produces nothing, and a CF that produces nothing. Drew would have at least given them some defensive stability that would have allowed Xander to play 3B.
23. Workman. If JBJ, Sizemore, Carp and Gomes are allowed to look like little leaguers, Nava has absolutely zero shot of ever appearing in another MLB game with the Sox. Much to dojji's dismay, law of averages caught up to Nava. When a below average MLB offensive player can't get on base (the only thing he could do), run, field, throw, or have a defensive position...well, then....time to find a new profession.
24. Oh man, I returned to the forum today....after months of inactivity. Looks like the WS win did nothing to change DodgerBluesFred's opinion. He should just root for the Houston Astros, then he could bitch about them every year without the fear of them actually winning.
25. Should never have gotten to this point. They never got the draft pick compensation. They saved a grand total of 4 million dollars. They are 5 games below .500, two months in. Was it worth it?
