  1. He did here:
  2. I agree. Ball Four. Glory of their times. I enjoyed Juiced. Ive read Ball Four probably 3 times, and I am currently reading it again during my long 11-7 shifts.
  3. You criticize me for making comments about Timlin and Lopez, then you make your own negetive comments about one of the same players I had an argument about.... f'n assclown.
  4. I dont question him pitching to Crede, I think Joba has the ability to get him out. Yankee fans always compare him to Papelbon, and I dont see Paps pitching around anyone. I love the fact that Giardi is the manager, for the fact that I think Torre was all that much better......I think the Yankees dropped the ball on this one....
  5. What will happen with him? He is obviously ready for the show, but of late Lugo has decided we will start hitting. Does he get sent down? If he is demoted, his performance certainly does not justify it.
  6. Bring him up! lol, just kidding, although I bet he still puts up better numbers than Timlin right now.....
  7. Thats not fair! Comparing Chamberlain to aaron small.
  8. I dont think that flashes of effectiveness serves the Redsox best. Flashes of excellence is good on a average to good team, but not a team with a roster full of guys who have a chance at the champioship. Hes good in non pressure situations, but a team with champioship dreams makes him replaceable. I wont speculate, but there has got to be options out there better than Lopez and Timlin. EDIT: I agree with the second part of your post. Either way, giving up a game in which your starter gives up 1 er in 6 innings is inexcusable....especially if your offense scored you 5.
  9. Agree with most, disagree with Lopez. Hes awful, I dont care what his numbers say this season orwhatever.....h really is brutal. I hope for the best with MDC, he grows increasingly frustrating to watch. The things about the pen that bother me are: 1. Mike Timlin for your previous stated research. 2.Javier Lopez, because he does not deserve to have the role he has on a championship caliber team. 3. The mediocrity of MDC, who clearly possess all of the tools to dominate. Tavarez is what he is....Aardsma has done well. The three above mentioned drive me crazy though.
  10. I cant take credit for it, I actually went there, and looked at the players that were most similar to see if Fain was there......then I browsed through players they suggested were most similar and I was surprised at how close Kruk was. BTW, some of those players they list as "similar" really arent either. Jeremy Giambi? Chris Singleton? Alex Ochoa? Maybe similar for 1 year.....only Kruk really compares for multiple seasons, and career averages.
  11. How bout now? Now were at 24 games into the season, and if you take Pap and Okis numbers out of there, its pretty disgusting.
  12. I think thats a bad comparison. Youk has better power numbers. I see him as a a perennial borderline/ fringe all star player like you do....but I think he is alot better than fain. I see the OB% numbers are similar, but they play in completely different eras. Defensively, he does not compare. He may not be in the top 50, but he is certainly better than Fain. I think a better comparison offensively in modern day baseball is John Kruk. Kruk 162 game average: 158H 14HR 80 RBI BA.300 .397OB 85BB 446.SLG Youk 162 game average: 157H 15HR 80RBI BA.284 .386OB 85BB 441SLG
  13. Yeah, I guess your right. Only guys with 500+ homers not in the hall are Palmeiro, Mcgwire, Bonds and Sosa, assuming A-Rod and Griffey go in.
  14. Just looked that up, he hasnt played a game at 1B in more than four years!!!!Even in that season he only played 4 games. Over his career, in 19 seasons hes played 971 career cames at 1B, averaging 51 games a season.......I know he hasnt played much 1B over the last 5 or so years, but I never realized it was that drastic. In fact, over his career, hes only played 3 seasons out of 19 where he had more than 100 appearances at a 1B'man
  15. We'll see, he had another good outing yesterday (4/20)......well see how much they push him. I was very excited when they drafted him, but very disappointed in him afterward. Maybe his sleep disorder really hurt his performance, but he looked shell shocked in his initial year, and his year in AAA last year. I understand that he was thrown to the dogs his first year, I guess he was built up too much too soon, hopefully he does comes up and changes my perception of him. I think they learned their lesson though, which is why they would ease him up a lot slower, giving the other guys I mentioned a better chance of filling a spot before Hansen. There is nothing more than I like than having home grown players make it big, but the perception of him was probably pushed too far in the beginning, and it wasn't fair to him, or us as fans.....because he was simply not ready to give results right away that the front office projected. He was drafted under the notion that he was the player in the draft that was "closet to making an impact". It was probably unfair to him, and our expectations as a whole were too much.
  16. Ahhhh, yeah actually....like I said, in ST he hinted he wouldnt accept a reserve role.......so I dont know what you were getting at. The JD Drew comment was only a joke, not to be taken serious....so I dont understand the attack. I actually like Drew very much, and have never made comments in a serious sense otherwise, so its really unfair to name me as "people like you". Why does it seem that on this board, instead of being argumentative back and forth.....people resort to personal attacks and name calling? Why can't someone just put in there opinion without being called an idiot? I said nothing to attack him as a player or person, just simply said that he already hinted that he wouldnt accept such a role, and I cannot blame him, I also have never attacked you or your posts in any sort of fashion....why does that warrant you calling me an idiot and labeling my post as exhibit A?
  17. Frank Thomas: 19 seasons, age 40 2419 Hits 516 Homers 1685 RBI's 1639 BB's .302 AVG .420 OB% .979 OPS Jim Thome: 18 seasons. age 37 1935 Hits 511 Homers 1411 RBI's 1467 BB's .280 AVG .408 OB% .972 OPS Compare these to Reggie Jackson: played 21 seasons, retired at age 41 2584 Hits 563 Homers 1702 RBI's 1375 BB's .262 AVG .356 OB% .846 OPS I think Frank Thomas is a lock, he put up amazing numbers in a steroid era, and his name has never been mentioned. Thome is still putting up good numbers, and will likely build his HOF resume and has a chance also, especially if he gets 2000 hiits this season. They compare significantly with Reggie, and Reggie is a HOF. What do you guys think?
  18. He doesnt have any to begin with....his value was tanked a month into the season last year when it was realized the year before wasnt becuase of an injury, he has not performed to expectations. If he had any value to other teams at all, and I mean at all.....why wouldnt a bubble team pick him up? Basically what that tells me is that there are 32 teams in the league, and 3 OF's for each team.....so everyone in MLB thought there were 93 (excluding the sox) starting OFs who give them a better chance......anyone could have had him, and nobody would offer anything. Hell Detroit would rather see a former catcher/3Bman run around in CF before tlaking to Boston (just a joke, obv. Boston wouldnt deal him to another frontrunner).
  19. Possibly one of the funniest things ive ever seen...... watch it a few times....i was almost in tears after a couple of times hahahahahahha I love the "sit-up" hahahahhahahha and how its in sync with the music hahahaha
  20. I think I may have low balled him. I dont remember him coming out of the gate like this.....maybe one other time, If I were to guess, Id say it was his first year in Boston.
