  1. I would not, could not, in a box. I could not, would not, with a fox. I will not eat them in a house. I will not eat them with a mouse. I will not eat them here or there. I will not eat them anywhere. I do not eat green eggs and spam. I do not like them, Spam-I-am.
  2. Except for infielders. Jose Offerman and his 42 errors at SS in 1992. Dick Stuart and his 29 errors at 1B in 1963. Butch Hobson and his 43 errors at 3B in 1978. How the hell do you make 29 errors at 1B!!!!!!!!! Errors isnt always the worst way to measure it, when you suck......boy you suck! (this post is done in comedic fashion)
  3. Easy bud, I wasnt attacking your post. I like the underachiever too. One of my favorite players was a "older" minor leaguer who put up big minor league numbers: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=daubac001bri
  4. He hit 26 HR in AAA at the age of 28, not 25. Someone who hits 26 HR at the age of 28 has Joe Vitiello syndrome. An all star career in the AAAA range (except Vitiello was three times the hitter Van Every is).
  5. Wagner will only be back, if somehow he becomes a closer here. Reality, prob wont happen....but you never know. Baldelli will not be back. Platooning with another player who is sometimes an injury risk.....not a good mix. He did a nice job, but they will get someone who is more of a utility player. Byrd.....will most likely retire. He did what was asked of him. Kotchman...not sure what to think with him. I dont see him as a starting player, but not as a backup either. I think he may be dealt to a smaller market franchise where he can be a starting 1B. Maybe he nets us a useful backup player/bullpen arm.
  6. I had this same argument at the trading deadline. SD wont trade them unless they get the world in return...otherwise, what's in it for them?
  7. I think they need to cut that fat here. *Varitek needs to go. *Wakefield needs to go. *Lowell needs to go. *Delcarmen is not the bullpen arm we once thought he would be. *We have zero depth on the bench, lets be realistic, it was pretty horrible to have Lowrie as a PH option in a series deciding game. While Lowell was a nice bat in the lineup, his injury was one of the things that handicapped this team this season. Even on the field, he looked like a shadow of his old self defensively. I think there is a lot that needs to be done in this offseason. Questions to ponder: Is Josh Beckett overrated? He's been good, but lets face it....besides 2007, has he really been an ace? Will Dice-K rebound and have a productive full season? Is Papelbon on this team next year (not based on his last appearance, but based on contract situation)? Is Ellsbury on this team next year? Who plays 1B and 3B next year? Who plays SS next year?
  8. Consolation? They didnt win 2 games at Fenway only to lose game 5.
  9. Reality? People scrape by making 40,000 a year... THAT IS REALITY. They want to bitch and moan about a couple of MILLION dollars. You wanna talk about f***ing reality. Bitch and moan to play a f***ing childs game. A GAME!!!!
  10. Im not saying I wouldnt do that same if I were not from Boston, but dont assume he will feel some sort of remorse about leaving Boston. I am sure he will make it sound like he wanted to stay here and all that, and that is what will irk me. Thats what will make him greedy. The fact he had to take 18M rather than 14M....bc 14M certainly wasn't good enough to support his family. Its a slap in the face to people who make 40,000 and scrape by, or those who dont have jobs at all
  11. I am not missing the point. I didnt say offer him nothing, I simply said he is not going to be worth the money he will eventually accept, which will not be an offer from Boston. You are missing the point, if it becomes a matter of money, and both players are asking for the bank, I go with Holliday. My decision about which LF I want is not affected by the Yankees and their LF situation. Go for Holliday, if you dont get him there are still options available. I am so sick of people thinking that we need to sign players to offset/balance what the Yankees needs are/will be. Baseball is not won by going in to every offseason trying to out-do the Yankees in the FA market, if so....the Yankees would have won a few WS titles since 2000 as that was the Yankees team building philosophy during that period. Its about building the best team. Matt Holliday makes them a better team.
  12. Mike Lowell and Jason Bay are two completely different scenarios. This is Bays last opportunity to cash in after a career power year. You only think Bay will sign a deal here, because you really really want him to, and something inside you believes that the magic of Boston and Fenway Park will lure him in to signing the deal. He is just like everyone else, a greedy professional baseball player who will only look out for his own best interests. Its not a game/sport anymore......its a business, its a job.
  13. Bay isnt signing any deal before the free agent posting period. This is Bays one and probably only opportunity to cash in. He will sign the biggest contract he can. He has no allegiances here.
  14. Ok, so what if the Yankees sign Holliday and Bay signs with a wildcard team? Your logic makes zero sense. Go after the better player and hopefully it works out for us.
  15. Well, let the Matt Holliday sweepstakes begin.
  16. Ron Mahay went from 1994 baseball strike scab, to major league center fielder, to MLB LOOGY. I think alot of people forget he was a CF before he pitched. 12 years and almost 500 appearances later, hes put up some very respectable numbers.
  17. Sad, you think professional athletes have it all......all but happiness I suppose.
  18. Ive seen him live now three times. Hes been BRUTAL in all of them. specifically the blowout against the Yankees (Penny started the game, they lost like 19-11 I think) and tonight. Every time I see him pitch he gets hammered. Maybe its unlucky that I always see his worst, but if this is what we have to look foward to, no thanks.......he has sucked the big one every time I see him live. So disappointed that I bought tickets thinking that Beckett was pitching, only to find out Bowden was.....already knew the outcome of that shitstorm.....
  19. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/federowicz-tim.htm Looks like a very good defensive catching prospect. Anybody know anything about him? And what do people feel is a timeline for his arrival? If he doesnt pan out offensively, so be it....but could he serve as a good defensive backup in the future?
  20. The Sox will get rid of him, regardless of what he decides to do with his player option. A 3 million dollar waste of a roster spot makes zero sense. If he exercises the option, he will be released, and we will get a backup catcher, making league minimum, who can at least catch the ball, and throw out between 15-20% of base runners. If Beckett or anyone else cry about his knowledge of batters or preparedness, I tell you this....you are making millions of dollars, pick up a f*cking scouting report yourself and read it, like Schilling used to do. He reads a fahkin scouting report, and people act like hes the messiah of all catchers. He sucks, hes useless, time to take ol' yeller out back of the barn.....
  21. I think there is no way he is back next season. They wont pay more than veteran's minimum for a backup catcher who cant hit, run, throw, or even field lately. Memorizing scouting reports can only take him so far....enough is enough, he is terrible.
