Not sure why we have to make a trade of an OF bat. Jermaine Dye and Gary Sheffield are still FA. Either one might help us out.

My take is that there is not a three team race, unless you are talking about the bottom of the AL East...you know---->Boston, Toronto and Baltimore.

They are in the twilight of theyre season right now. Really had a brutal series with a team that would be around .500 in AAA. How do they not win a series against a team that had practically mailed it in? Pathetic. If they have a bad series against ANH and do nothing at the trade deadline they are done.

John Lackey is the least of our problems right now. And hes not a bust. Mike Hampton for the Braves was a bust. Lackey has underachieved, but thats all he has done, and he has a reputation as a second half starter. He will be fine.

Blow it up. Except Bard. Not saying Papelbon sucks (I would like to keep him) or anything of that nature, just dont think the Sox will pay his contract demands moving forward.

He should be in jail for robbing fans of their hard earned money by jacking up ticket prcies/concessions/souvenirs, then refusing to invest in the product, the only thing that means anything to us. The Boston Red Sox are a cash cow and rape fans of their money. This aint Bostons beloved baseball team no more. It is a money making business, and it is f***ing gross.

Anyone else find it concerning that the Sox have really been struggling against a club that has basically quit on their manager? Sox having a VERY tough time putting runs together.

If they cop out, and say that their deadline deals will be the return of Beckett, Pedroia, MDC, Tek, VMart...etc...etc.....I will be pissed off. They want to cry over luxary tax? If they decide to build it, they have to do it in an area close to the current one to at least keep some of the nostalgia. Some areas to consider: The area across from lechmere square in Charlestown. Its right off 93. The athletic fields across from the bayside expo center. There is a huge amount of property right on the old harbor that might look nice for a future Fenway. I think there is enough islands/barrier islands in the way to make it not another "mistake by the lake". It would never happen, but what about putting it where the Gardens are across the street on boylston street? Swap properties, the Fenway property is smaller, but cut them a huge check to build the gardens and make them state of the art. I am sure a huge check would convivce them to swap properties as most of the people who work at the gardens are students/volunteers. This would keep the ballpark in almost the same exact place....the back bay fens.

So when does Oki get DFA? He has been brutal just about all year. Nearing the end of the rope here.

While I want to agree with you, sometimes I walk away from one of his starts thinking, "how the f*** did that happen?". I cant stand watching him.....Id rather watch paint dry, but minus 2 bad starts this season, his ERA would be very good, and he would be in the 5-2, 6-2, 7-1 win/loss range. He is a strange case where WHIP does not seem to affect his results.

Ive been hesitant to post about Beltre. With his early defensive woes, I was tempted to post a "I told you so" response. I kept waiting.....I kept waiting for him to falter offensively. He wasnt hitting for power, and again I was tempted to post "I told you so". He then started hitting for EXB power. I was then tempted to post about his HR numbers......There is nothing more that needs to be proven. Dipre, even though I have not said it on the forums, I am admitting my personal flawed secretive Beltre thoughts. With 2 big flys today, a .341 AVG, team leading RBI numbers and much improved defense....I think he has proven a lot of us wrong.

His offensive numbers are declining with more AB's, really par for the course over the past few seasons, but the pitching performances hes had behind the plate show his true worth to the staff.

.266, 10 HR OB% .338 Most importantly, his OB% this month is over .400 (.408). Looks like hes taking many more pitches that he was waiving at previously. The K numbers are still a little high, but as the walk numbers go up, and pitchers start realizing he is showing signs of is previous self....those will most likely go down (although they dont matter if hes mashing).

1. Cliff Lee just signed a long term deal, VMart is a FA after the season. Not going to happen. 2. Why would Houston want Dice-K? Why would they want one of our s***** bullpen arms? We arent going to give them anything of value to "Sweeten" the deal because we are looking for bullpen arms. 3. Ortiz is a DH. He has zero worth to any NL team. He has little worth to any team really, other than a few that can pay his salary. He is an aging slugger. Why would MIL trade their cornerstone, esp. for Ortiz? We are already weak in the bullpen, trading Papelbon makes it weaker. 4. Soriano has been a lights out reliever for TB (by the way, first place in the AL East). How can they sign him? Pretty much a overwhelming NO on all fronts.
