  1. I know this source isn't credible, but I hope it goes down anyway. On the YES boards there is a link to a Reds board listing this possible trade: Red get - Christian Garcia, Phillip Hughes, Eduardo Sierra, Ramon Ramirez Yankees get - Griffey, Kent Merker, Rich Aurillia Gacria and Hughes are the Yankees top two pitching prospects and Sierra and Ramirez are also high on their list of prospects. This will help the Yankees in the immediate future but sell even more of their future. Let's hope that George thinks that all that glitters is gold. 2. Sanchez seems to have a higher ceiling than Lester or Papelbon according to scouting reports, but I haven't seen any of them play, so I'll go with your list.
  3. Isn't the White Sox Brandon McCarthy one of the top 10 pitching prospects in the Minor Leagues? If so, the Contreras/McCarthy deal may be sweeter than one Theo would be willing to put together.
  4. True, and this move will allow them to let Palmeiro DH full time. I would think Ponson's experience would be something you would want to rely on more than a chance that a rookie will step up big in pennant race.
  5. The more I think about the Burnett situation, the more concerned I get about what happens if the Red Sox get him. He seems intent on playing the free agent market at the end of the season, and I don't like the idea of giving up future talent plus Arroyo to get a guy we may only have for a couple of months. If Theo can work something out with him and his agent to sign him to an extension, then I think he's definitely worth it. But selling some of our future to improve our chances for this year alone is too pricey in my mind.
  6. The Ponson for Nevin move has to be part of a future deal to get a pitcher for the O's. If they are going to stay in the race, they need more pitching. Since they gave up a piece of their already weak starting rotation, I am expecting them to acquire a pitcher down the road in a deal/deals involving Nevin/Nevin+others.
  7. Curt Schilling WILL be our best starter. But I get your point.
  8. Sanchez's line from last night's Portland vs. New Hampshire game: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 11 K, 2 BB
  9. You just used "rational" and "Yankee fan" in the same sentence; you should know better than that.
  10. Don't get me wrong, I've been calling for Bellhorn's head in favor of someone who defends well and puts the ball in play, aka Tony G. I love the upgrade. I was just pointing out that from a statistical standpoint, he's been on base 5 times.
  11. Red Sox winning is much better. Especially now that we are in first. If they win the rest of their games, it doesn't matter what the Yankees do.
  12. Fielder's choice plays don't count as getting on base since you replace the previous baserunner.
  13. But we were operating with a short 'pen since Schilling and Timlin weren't available tonight, so he had his reasons.
  14. Disagree, next two batters after the HR got singles. Yank 'em.
  15. 1st and 2nd, as Bengie, of the "Flying Molina Brothers", walks
  16. When 3/5 of your sentences end in exclamation marks (!), I get the sense that you think everything you say is very important. I hate self importance.
  17. Olderdude ends the game, go Angels.
  18. You would think Sierra would get more AB's as the DH, but I don't understand any Yankee logic.
  19. 4-1 as Al "Yankee fans like to call me CY" Leiter throws a wild pick-off attempt, Figgins to 2nd.
  20. 3-1 Angels, runners on the corners, 1 out, Erstad up
  21. Pods on third after the throwing error. Not upset, he'd have ended up there anyway.
  22. Captaiaiaiain Caveeeeemaaaaan! 7-2.
  23. I was off by one Francoma nap, sue me.
  24. Francoma comes out after the HR. The cheering must've woken him from his nap.
  25. Why no pitcher change?
