  1. Now that you mention it, I didn't realize how good Crisp's year was until I just looked at it. A 6 WARP season with only 11.9 VORP. That's about 5 defensive wins. Amazing. Yeah, it might be worth a try.
  2. I get the feeling TW101 is one of those impossible to please people. Goldilocks for baseball. "You can make 'em better, but not with the best". Assinine.
  3. SFoC, proposal sent.
  4. Reg Season Feel good: Lester's triumphant return Look what we get next year: C Buck's no-no Holy smokes: The creation of a new term, as in, "Damn, that dude got Chase Wrighted" with the back-to-back-to-back-to-back Post Season Dustin saying, "It's on motherf***ers!", in our first WS AB
  5. Pawtuckett, along with another one of those players because there are 26 there.
  6. Leer? I'm assuming this means Liriano. Those extra 3 keystrokes saved to use a nickname nobody has heard of were well thought out. He's what, 12 months removed from TJ surgery? Yeah, he should be. ESPN ran this at the end of the year. Twins' Liriano progressing, eyes spring training return
  7. Until I see it from a credible source, ie the Twins GM, I don't see any reason to think that this guy is getting traded. They should be legit contenders next year with that rotation and bullpen.

  9. I'm all for it if we don't see a dip in quality. There is only one horse on this staff right now, Beckett. Dice is still adjusting to the longer season and longer work week. The kids will require monitoring of their workload. Schilling and Wake seem to like a little extra time between starts. I don't think a full-on 6-man staff is the way to go, but I think they could work something out where Wake slots in every so often to give everyone other than Beckett extra rest.
  10. Anything is possible. They could then use Hall for what he really is, a super-utility guy that can play just about anywhere. I think Gwynn Jr can bring what Crisp does for less money though.
  11. It's certainly plausible for him to hit 25-30 HR, but that will be the lone glam to his game. He's good for about 5 RC/G, about 1/2 of ARod at MVP level. That's about 5 wins. A 5 win downgrade at one position will be tough to overcome, especially when it's not reasonable to expect increases in production at the other positions.
  12. I don't think the A's need a 1B. Barton was up at the end of the year and he performed. He'll start next year.
  13. Possibly, but why would the Yankees give up starters if they are in contention?
  14. I'm sorry, but this deal is pennies on the dollar for the best pitcher in baseball. Wang's now done with the minimum. He's in his arb years, so his fiscal appeal is about to take a hit. Cabrera is an unremarkable ball player. Sure he can run a little, and he can hit a little, and he's got a good arm, but this isn't the kind of guy the best pitcher in baseball goes for. No, Minnesota's got a shot next year with Liriano returning and Garza/Baker with experience under their belts. I don't think the Yankees can make a deal without Cano and one of Wang, Chamberlain, or Hughes.
  15. I see in the last dozen or so posts Buchholz, who could be "pretty good", now rates behind Kennedy, who our resident psuedo-scout thinks will be "very, very good". I just can't take you seriously anymore Jacko. Totally and completely full of s***.
  16. I'm thinking 60, maybe 70. Last year's end should provide extra "focus".
  17. He's got it all in his blog at 38pitches.com. He only wants to play one more year, and his preference is to finish his career with the Sox. They just need to agree on terms.
  18. Thanks, Gom. I look forward to more ball busting as FA season heats up and lead us into pitchers and catchers reporting.
  19. You know, it's possible there's another motive. The announcement came out after Kielty's HR, when it was 4-1 in the 8th and the outcome seemed more definite. If he really just wants out of NY, perhaps it wasn't an attention grab and was timed to serve as a big middle finger to NY on the way out.
  20. I'm guessing you didn't read Hank's declaration yet. There's a lot of bridge rebuilding to do for him to be in NY next year.
  21. Get up? I've resigned myself to a sleepless night with coffee and toothpicks in the eyes. If I slumber, I won't get up in two hours.

  23. Can't beat Crazy, just can't do it. Glad Crazy is on our side.
  24. To everyone, the ride has been fun. Ups, downs, thick, thin, all of it made a hell of a ride. We were at each others throats from time to time, but that's just part of the journey, and now that it's done, it's done. Drink it in and enjoy. Love to all of you.
