  1. Missed it. Sorry Scaff.
  2. A dink and a hole shot. Let's cap it off with something toward the moon.
  3. I don't think you can throw comments like, "Nobody else will pay that much", around. His 10/250 contract (and Manny's 8/160) came at a time when revenues were approximately $3B annually. They are $6B now. We saw an upswing last offseason after a flat period in player salary. We could be in line for another spike.
  4. No mention of Kalish in the CF and RF reports? He killed the ball and was all over the basepaths in Lowell prior to his hamate bone surgery. I'm excited to see what he's doing after his recovery.
  5. Oh, so Gammons doesn't have his head up his ass if he's being complimentary of Yankees? I get it. Keith Law is not a scout. He's a reporter. Callis thought that at the beginning of the year. Like you said, we'll see where they rate by the scouting sites come the new year. I'm only interested in the this because I think you are wrong about calling this a clear cut case of who's better. I think they are very close to equal. Better raw stuff from Chamberlain. Buch's the better pitcher. That should still count for something. Kennedy will rate higher than Horne for a reason. It's isn't just about the radar gun.
  6. I never said he was, nitwit. Cabrera was brought up as the prime example of why it's not just about "stuff". Thus the crux of your argument fails miserably. Joba does one thing better than Buchholz, which is throw harder. That's it. The people who get paid to do this stuff rate them from equal to Buch slighly better. Those are the pros, what are your creds to get me to buy this ******** "stuff" argument?
  7. I agree. If anything, that just confirms the market is there. If that's the offer, the 3/81 now and 5/150 for a total of 8/231, I'll guarantee you Boras is thinking, "I'll bet I could get someone to go 8/248" or something like that.
  8. If fat Joba is demonstrably better than Buchholz, then why didn't he outperform him in the EL this year? Every scouting comp I've seen of the two is either in slight favor of Buchholz or calls it a push. Yet, we are supposed to believe they've got it all wrong because this one time at band camp Jacko played Div III college ball (supposedly) and he thinks it isn't close? Please. Buck can attack the zone with 3 or 4 pitches on any given night. Chubby bunny is a two trick pony at this point with little polish. If, big if, Chamberlain is able to master 4 pitches and bring them to the mound, then yes, he'll be better. His raw stuff is better than Buck's. So is Daniel Cabrera's. Doesn't make him a better pitcher, or prospect now.
  9. Well, the big guy posted over at SoSH and he's only looking for one more year. You bring him back if it's just for one more year. With a first draft rotation of .... Beckett Dice Buchholz Lester ________ ... then it would be nice to have good options to fill in the blank. If Wake comes back, I think he's at the point where you can't count on him eating innings due to nagging injuries (his back seems a regular culprit). Fill that blank with Wake and Schill. Both will need some time off or a little extra rest in between starts (plus you could sqeeze them both in when they are in the middle of long stretches of consecutive games to give the kids and Dice some extra rest). No brainer, if you ask me.
  10. Can't stand the source (BDD), but saw this elsewhere. This is clever. http://cache.boston.com/images/bostondirtdogs//tacoby_1026.gif
  11. Pick up Manny's options?
  12. It's night and day for me. With Beckett going, I had no worries about game 5, but Schilling and Dice had me concerned about the ALCS. However, with one in the books and the kids playing a big role, there was no sense of catastrophe if they got eliminated.

I've got to give it to Andre Woodson right now. 26/4 and he toppled the No. 1. Ryan was good in the last 3 mins, but give some credit to his coach. They adjusted the game plan and got him on the move more since the VT line was holding a meeting in the pocket every play. Beamer got beat by Jag. No adjustments from VT.
  14. We get it, Jacko. You have a need to bury it in up to the hilt in his back as he's on the way out. What changed? Well, it's been a year, and none of us are in the clubhouse nor do we get to sit in on the meetings or eavesdrop on the phone calls. All you need to know for change verification is that something happened to make his opinion vary. That is of course, if you are willing to accept the leaked "agreement" is legit. No chance that's a saving face move.
  15. Hideki Okajima is mother-f***ing nails.
  16. At this point, I don't think there's a chance Gagne comes into the game short of us plating 10 in the bottom half of the 7th. It's been what, 3 days since Papelbon pitched? Another 6 out save with a day off tomorrow?
  17. Fuentes being used means we probably get Hawkins soon. I like it. Of course, us using Jeemer means a Timlin/Delcarmen sighting at some point before the 9th. Fingers crossed.
  18. I think Tito's reasoning had to be along the lines of Atkins and Hawpe hitting the ball well earlier and Shilling having a tendancy to let the wheels fall off all of a sudden. Not as bad as Wake, but Wake-like. And, Jeemer makes him look like a genious. I love that little dude.
  19. Kinky, let's party! Well played.
  20. Yeah, but you're a dragon chick f***er.
  21. Tip of the cap to Girdle. He knows to turn Ted around.
  22. Ass-felt is doing himself no favors here. If he walks Drew, he'll have to face Ted batting RH, his better side.
  23. There's your lead Curt. Bring it home.
