    2007 NFL Season

Green Bay Packers, property of the citizens of Green Bay or property of the Chicago Bears? If this holds up, Bears up 21-7, that would be a season sweep for the Bears, accounting for 2 of 3 losses.
  2. The vultures in the Phi/NO game are out. 35 1st quarter points, no TDs for my Westbrook or Brees. I like the shootout, but I can't help but feel there are lost opportunities for my team there.
  3. Part of me wants to say how ludicrous it is to celebrate a "baller" like Dukes, a guy who's committed a 5 by 4, 5 kids by 4 baby-mommas. The other part isn't interested in the subsequent charge of "racism" from a suburban white kid without a clue.

They lost Benburger? Parker won't be missed that much. They are a lot like Denver, IMO. You can plug and play RBs with their line.
  5. Yes, I remember that call, and the use of sardonic by Timmy the Taint is funny. Cynically mocking? Not quite. Try ebullient. Now, sardonic would be an apt description of the feedback in this thread.
  6. I'd bet my shirt he'll link to 38pitches.com, and if you read Curt's blog, it's not what I'd call spouting off. Getting an insider's perspective, even from a sanctimonious source, is more interesting than the thought's of the taint.
  7. YH with a good start from Benburger.

  11. I demand .... a .... shrubbery.
  12. Why are you here? It's a message board, a place to put your thoughts out there for others to read. If you are so sensitive that some negative feedback is going to cause you this much discomfort, why not just happily sit at home and keep those thoughts to yourself? What you think doesn't matter to me, not one bit. But if you are going to put it out there, then accept the fact that some people may have criticisms of your thought process. What you do with those criticisms is your decision, but please afford me the same "entitlement of expression" that you feel I am threatening. Or is really not about the right to opinion, and you just want people to agree with everything you say? EDIT: In this discussion? No. In none of those situations are you being asked to believe what someone has said.
  13. Thumper, when your opinion of a person impacts your ability to look at the facts, then you are a fanboy. My opinion of Papelbon doesn't matter, nor should yours. And spare me your hypothetical about Jeter. To date, we've yet to see you come down someone you like or give benefit of doubt to someone you don't like. It is what it is. No, that's not Andy Kaufman. It's Monty Python, from a skit where they are learning self-defense and the instructor will only teach them how to defend themselves against attackers armed with fresh fruit. Cleese is the instructor. Chapman, Idle, Jones, and Palin are the students. Idle keeps asking him, over and over, "What about a man armed with a pointed stick?" It kind of stuck with me.
  14. Jeez, Thump, you'll pretty much believe anything if you happen to like the guy, huh? First Pete Rose is a paragon of honesty, and now you'll believe the "dog ate my homework" story. Ever think that's a rather cherished piece of memorabilia?
  15. I understand that his name has come up previously, but it's been quite some time since it was "known", due to the leaked grand jury testimony, that Bonds used. I'm not denying he'll likely catch the lion's share of the bad press, but I think comparing levels of vitriol between the two right now is a bit premature. Let the Clemens side run it's course a bit and it's likely to get closer.
  16. Based on what? The guy has already lied. That says a lot more than a "feeling".
  17. How do you know he always bet on them to win? Because he said so? He also previously said he never bet on them at all, and that has been recanted. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
  18. Coco + Lugo is actually a good deal in some respects. It would essentially end the possibility of getting Santana because Ellsbury would not be expendable, but if that falls through, I'd actually like that deal. They'd get rid of 3 years of Lugo and get an upgrade on a 1 year deal. To get this benefit, they give up an expendable, cost-controlled Crisp. Now there's no super-suck (offensively) blocking Lowrie if he continues to show he can handle SS. I like that move.
  19. Does the google hit count on Bonds limit the results to the first two weeks after the story broke? Maybe it's just me, but I tend to think 4 years vs. 2 weeks will lead to more hits.
  20. ORS

    F% vs RZR

Yeah, you respect my opinion enough to call me a geek for it. How arrogant of me to not notice how magnanimous you've been.
  21. Would anyone here trade Beckett for Maybin and Miller?
  22. It's mathematically proportional, but not morally proportional, not for someone who thinks proportional income means more to those with less, which is what you are saying you feel about the current tax structure. I agree with you. 10% of gross income to the working stiffs mean a heckuva lot more than 10% to someone making millions, and it's because of what you end up with. The $50K example guy ends up with $45K. The $30M guy ends up with $27M. You have to budget everything, where you live, what you eat, what you drive, what you wear, around an extra $5K at that income level. At $27M? You don't have to budget anything, you can still live wherever you want, drive whatever you want, eat wherever you want, etc., etc.
