  1. rotoworld suggested its because Pena spent more time at 1st with Youk manning both corners (Lowell on dl twice)... even then that should have Youk as the superior defender
  2. http://www.sportinggoodsnewswire.com/2008_Rawlings_Glove_Glove_Winners-3918.htm Pitcher- Mike Mussina Catcher- Joe Mauer 1st Base- Carlos Pena 2nd Base- Dustin Pedroia  Shortstop- Michael Young 3rd Base- Adrian Beltre Outfield- Torii Hunter Grady Sizemore Ichiro Suzuki
  3. http://bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/2008_11_05_Not_so_fast_on_Jason_Varitek:_Agent_Scott_Boras_uses_Jorge_Posada_deal_as_catcher_s_benchmark/ Boras is using Posada's 4 year $52 million contract as a benchmark for any team concerning Varitek. At that time Posada was 35 and had an outstanding season. Well Jason, thanks for the 2 world series championships but off you go
  4. I see Giambi going to just 1 of 2 teams, the Blue Jays or back in Oakland
  5. Casey is already gone, he's a free agent and the Sox FO arent acting like he will be re-signed. Look for a ST competition between Jeff Bailey and Chris Carter
  6. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2008/11/03/2008-11-03_source_brian_cashman_mulling_wild_pitch_.html Cashman is mulling the idea of bringing Pavano back...
  7. Thanks for the past 6 seasons Mike. He might come back for another season, better do that in the NL who are the other 3 scrubs?
  8. With David Price set to join the rotation and Percival againg quickly, I wonder if the Rays offer Cordero an incentive laden contract
  9. Cashman, wtf? Mitre is a poor pitcher in the NL (even when he pitched in Marlins' pitchers park)--Tommy John surgery that wont have him ready until July or August... and he gets a guaranteed 1 year contract for an AL East team, with an option year??
  10. I dont believe Texas would be interested in Lowell. Theyre pretty much set at the corners with Davis and Blalock Teams that would be in need of 3rd baseman are: White Sox, Twins, Guardians, Angels (Chone Figgins could be on trading block this winter), Giants
  11. Just because he's filed for free agency, doesnt mean its set in stone he's not coming back
  12. Manny acted that way doen the strech run because he was gunning for a new contract. He wore out his welcome in Cleveland, had a great 2000 season and then signed with Boston. I dont see him being a model citizen, running the bases hard with whatever team signs him
  13. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081029&content_id=3653588&vkey=news_fla&fext=.jsp&c_id=fla&partnerId=rss_fla The Marlins are closing in on a trade with the Royals Kansas City- 1B Mike Jacobs Florida- RP Leo Nunez The annual firesale continues of the Marlins trading off players entering their arbitration years. The 2 other Marlins very much likely to be traded are Scott Olsen and closer Kevin Gregg
  14. Congrats Phillies on a fine season! Now lets get this offseason started
  15. Ugh just get this over with so the offseason can start When I was on break, watching some of bud selig talking to the reporters. One reporter actually asked him if there was a chance that the remainder of game 5 would take place in Tampa Bay instead
  16. plus a potential full season of Lowrie, with his wrist in better shape This Perotto guy sees Varitek 2 years/$16 million? If thats the asking price, Boras and Tek can go elsewhere
  17. All the Phillies needed was for Howard to break out of his slump. Theyll be having a champagne party tonight, no doubt about it
  18. Alright Phillies! Beating Garza was huge, now itll be Hamels for game 4 to give them a potential series lead of 3-1
  19. Danley has no business calling such big games. He missed 2 calls, Rollins's uniform getting grazed, and Baldelli's AB where he raised his arm to call a strike on the 3-2 count (Baldelli obviously swung)... then pointed down to first base
  20. He's at 178 Wins, 1907 Ks... itll take him 8 more years to tack on 22 more wins and 93 more Ks?
  21. Alright Phillies! That duo of Madson/Lidge at the end of the game is money Games 2-4 do go Tampa's way in terms of pitching matchups. But saying Phillies in 6, they really need Rollins and Howard to get going
  22. on weei, old buddy Dale Sveum seems to be a top candidate
  23. couple more seasons like his and he'll have 200 Wins and over 2000 Ks. Pretty solid for a one pitch pitcher, especially a pitch thats become a dying breed
