  1. This FO doesnt seriously jump into free agent signings. Their last 4 big free agent signings had them doing the bidding by themselves (Dice-K, Lugo, Drew, E-Rent)
  2. But never fear, Lars Anderson is here!
  3. Thank god for the celtics now
  4. Roughly $60 million came off the books. The best move theyve done this offseason was sign Pedroia to an extension Their other moves claiming off waivers- Virgil Vazquez (DET), Dewon Day (CWS) picking up options for Okajima and Wakefield traded Coco Crisp to KC for Ramon Ramirez traded prospect Beau Vaughn to Texas for Wes Littleton signed Tazawa to a 3 year/$3 million contract (begins 09 in Portland) It does leave a bad taste in my mouth that they were outbid by just $10 million for their main target of the offseason
  5. I guess they would put Holliday in right, Bay in left
  6. Thats if he plays at all with them Sorry I wont believe their AL Champions until they prove it in October. A lot of things can happen Who wouldve thought last offseason that the world series would be... Philadelphia vs Tampa Bay??
  7. Did you forget that Bay is a threat to have 30 Hrs/100 RBIs? Youk is also a solid part of the lineup. While he had a breakout year, he needs to prove that 08 wasnt just a career year. I imagine the lineup would look like this Ellsbury Pedroia Ortiz Youkilis Drew Bay Lowell catcher Jed Lowrie/Julio Lugo
  8. I bet Jeff Bailey or Chris Carter would be solid backups for 1st base. And they would just cost the Sox the min salary
  9. Yea praise the Yanks didnt trade Phillip Hughes, Melky Cabrera and Ian Kennedy, who all be in Triple A for the forseeable future
  10. Cash shot himself in a foot. He had greater value for the Red Sox. Dusty Brown should be the favorite to backup whoever is catching and plus he has experience catching the knuckler
  11. Its not like the Jets have faced playoff teams since they were 8-3, very favorable schedule the rest of the way. Chokers if they are left on the outside looking in The Pats can get in, by 2 different scenarios Pats Win + Jets Loss + Ravens Loss resulting in wild card Pats Win + Dolphins loss resulting in division
  12. Ill be booing because of his antics to get out of Boston (including shoving a 62 year old man to the ground), even though they were in a playoff push. Signing with the Yankees would only be the tip of the ice berg. Johnny Damon, Roger Clemens and Jay Payton are the only former Red Sox I have booed at Fenway. I have joined in on the standing ovations for Pedro, Kevin Millar, Orlando Cabrera, Trot
  13. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/thebuzz/ Brian Cashman shot down this rumor, saying in a text "Not true" Unlike the Steinbreners, Cashman isnt interested in going after Manny
  14. Johnny Damon's return to Fenway will be nothing like Manny's. The park will be shaking from all the boos So-- CC, Burnett, Manny, and Yankee fans still want the FO to sign Tex Roughly $500 million right there
  15. Cant believe it took the Cards this long to pull Warner
  16. Another thing, his wife looks like something nice to come home to
  17. Peavy averaged 6 innings in the NL, it wouldnt improve going to the AL East. Peavy wouldnt be the #2 guy in the Boston rotation. Its moot anyway because I dont see the Sox giving up a horde of prospects to San Diego
  18. AJ got rid of that goatee of his
  19. I find it funny that writers like Bauman are saying that a Tex signing would be a knee jerk reaction to the Yanks signing AJ & CC. Entering the offseason, it was clear that the Sox were going to go hard after him A 4 year/$64 million deal to Lowe now that would be a knee jerk reaction
  20. It is a reported deal worth less than the $40 million Oakland was offering him, which was his least preferred team. They could move Kelly Johnson to left field if Escobar isnt traded
  21. Solid win, even if it was against the Raiders. Next week Cassel will face the Cardinals' suspect secondary
  22. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view.bg?articleid=1139095&srvc=rss Michael Silverman sees the offer to Tex being 8 years/$145-$175 million, possibly more
