  1. now this official   thank god theo is here to stay for 3 more seasons. personally Id say yes very much so if Sox were able to get Ervin Santana, impressed by his debut season in the bigs. But other than that... If Sox were to get Finley it would just be as a backup outfielder, would be 41 in 2006 and power numbers have recently taken a big hit. At first base Darin Erstad would actually be a step down from Millar offensively, though he has just made 29 errors in the field from 97 - 05
  2. oh wow i had predicted the game winning points would result from a forced fumble in the final minutes. not exactly on the mark i know, with colvin rather than bruschi who had forced and recovered the fumble.
  3. tedy bruschi is back people!!! he took part in 64 of the 77 defensive plays and special teams. compiled 44 hits, and had made 7 tackles. his contributions alone in the 4th quarter really helped out the pats. exhaustion get to bruschi? not for a minute next stop is for bruschi to say hi to his old friend payton
  4. it didnt help that they stupidly took their time getting onto the fielding causing a time delay penalty, turning a 39 yarder into a 44
  5. according to boston.com, the mets are still pursuing talks to be held with the sox for a manny trade deal. Though it has been reported about Mike Cameron, the Mets would be willing to give the sox starting pitcher Aaron Heilman and up and coming outfielder Lastings Milledge. im not so sure about heilman though
  6. Burnett had a 3.44 ERA with a 12-12 record, he wouldve had more wins but he had one of the lowest run support for starting pitchers in the NL, 3 or 4 runs of support a game--something sox could change
  7. id only aprrove sox of deal of Sanchez, Alvarez and Shoppach if it meant to get the Phillies touted 1st baseman Ryan Howard, who has drawn some comparisons to Ortiz in his early days. Not likely it will happen though, Philly knows theyd be wrong to give him up. but its just a thought of mine.
  8. no doubt about that as the Patriots are ranked as the AFC's best offensive team. It will help some that Tom Brady is 7-1 against the Buffalo Bills. This season he is tearing it up toward a career year, throwing 1821 yards in first 6 games (300+ yards average a game), he could be on course for 4200 - 4800 yards
  9. number of articles i have read about the options for the yankee center field would to be trade for Milton Bradley, jeez him in center and Sheff in right. what a controversial outfield combo that would be, huh?
  10. the whole Kent/Bradley debacle this past season didnt help matters either
  11. it still says in the article that theo could become a free agent on monday night if no deal is set. so there is really no definite resolution
  12. Arizona at Dallas Chicago at Detroit Cleveland at Houston Green Bay at Cincinnati Jacksonville at St. Louis Minnesota at Carolina Oakland at Tennesse Washington at N.Y Giants Kansas City at San Deigo Miami at New Orleans Philadelphia at Denver Tampa Bay at San Francisco Buffalo at New England Monday Nighter Baltimore at Pittsburgh
  13. def agree with you on that one. tampa bay wouldnt balk at arroyo considering besides kazmir they are in desperate need of starting pitching. and arroyo pitches well in domed stadiums. And Aubrey Huff with or without Manny in the lineup will sure to put some offensive numbers for the sox. is also more of a defensive player that millar was at 1st base and when playing the outfield. dont get me wrong, arroyo's my boy. but with the impressing debut of papelbon; that makes arroyo the odd man out (not likely to accept a position in the bullpen as he has indicated in interviews).
  14. i thought that the raucous standing ovation (I was among them at that game) for him coming out as a pinch hitter on the day of the trading deadline would be proof enough for him. Manny had to compose himself of all the cheers going on and then had a long battle at bat, in the end driving a single past the infielder's knocking the go-ahead run score. After the game saying "this is where i want to be. Manny being Manny, man."
  15. that doesnt necessarily mean so. Gordon Edes and others have suggested that Lester could get a call up for his debut, not meaning the pitching rotation will be in trouble. If you remember Abe Alvarez was called up to do one game of a double-header in 2004 when they had Pedro, Schil in his ace form, Lowe, Wakefield and Bronson where there was no cause for concern. just give other pitchers extra rest before their next starts.
  16. i dont think konerko isnt coming to boston at all, only as an opposing player. The most likely option is Aubrey Huff, who the Sox F.O. have been seeking out and love his style. this offseason they could finally do so. And Im alright with that, huff would be a good fit to red sox nation
  17. If White Sox arent able to resign him, Im sure he will go to Anaheim Angels. He could be good in Boston, but still he has said so many times how he doesnt like the Boston atmosphere. Quoted as "Its a nice place to visit". Though he did grow up in rhode island, he grew up with him and his family being yankee fans.
  18. no doubt theo has made great deals in his first 3 season. but like all GMs he has offered money to players or traded for; who didnt perform well. note some of these names will give cold shivers to red sox nation's spines taken from Boston.com Jeremy Giambi, John Halama, Mike Remlinger, Ramiro Mendoza, Chad Fox, Byung Hung Kim who was rocked in the ALDS, Scott Sauerbeck, Jeff Suppan, Scott Williamson, Brandon Lyon, Todd Jones, Bruce Chen, Jason Shiell, Steve Woodard, Bobby Jones, Bob Howry, Rudy Saenez, Matt Mantei, Jeremi Gonzalez (great guy but 6.18 ERA), Ramon Vazquez, Mike Remlinger, Jose Cruz Jr. nothing to take away from Theo, in theo I trust, well hopefully for the coming seasons
  19. well this didnt last long. god damn it Manny stop with your mind changes as much as the new england weather does. now threatening if he is not dealt, he will not show up for spring training...
  20. omg kill me now i was watching ESPN and the white sox players duyring their parade were singing or trying to sing the song "Dont Stop Believing". One of those roll your eyes moments haha offkey, and the crowd in chicago were like dead silent
  21. yeaaa... but Abe Alvarez is high on the list of trade-able prospects this offseason. Lester, Sanchez and hansen we know they played in AA last season. But its not like they will jump right to the majors on opening day. Those 3 will most likely stay most of the season in AAA (lester and Hansen could get calls up in July or August). Look at papelbon who had started the 05 season in AA and what he was able to do, 96/97 fastballs, and yes he did do some intimidating.
  22. I can see Brandon Moss (if not traded by then) is a viable option to take over right field in 2007 or 2008. agree with "yankeessuck" that Jacoby Ellisbury was drafted and is being groomed to play in center field, ive seen him play in August in which he had a 3 hit game, 2 SBs, and made a hell of a diving catch for a fly ball. I can only expect so far good things for him.
