    now that I think about it, this trade could really end up with Mets taking themselves out of the Manny debacle. Cameron was their main centerpiece in any manny trade deal. Now Ive seen reports the Mets next objective is to trade for left handed power slugger Carlos Delgado, which would cost less for them opposed to having to pick up any of Manny's remaining $57 million. As well as give them the big bat they they have needed.

    for what its worth, dont take too much stock into Nady. He's not much of a power threat or an OBP kind of guy. Though he doesnt strike out that much, he lacks plate discipline.     god damn it. Dayton Moore who was fast on track as the top candidate to replace Theo as GM has taken himself out of the running according to Boston.com No exact reason has been given Jim Bowden of the Washington Nationals and Jim Beattie the former Orioles GM are the only 2 candidates left who have been interviewed. Hell no to Beattie!

    all i can say about him is simply wow--i went to check his stats and low and behold he is just 25 years old and in his first 5 seasons has accumulated 201 HRs. The lowest homerun count he has had was 34

    again i say he had hit 30 of his 47 HRs against starting pitching, you just dont want to admit he is the best clutch hitter in today's baseball. Season long he had better avg's than arod with RISP, and RISP 2 outs. thats the whole game, not just the late innings. really you got to face it.

    simply put... ass (1) Mo Vaughn by the time he was 29 had accumulated 155 (2) rate papi is going 350 will be at the very least ammount (3) intangibles of him being Mr. Clutch time and time again will help some Bernie Williams just hit 275 HRs, so let me guess bernie still has the edge cuz papi is just a dh.

    still you are under-rating how great ortiz is whatever pitcher he has to face. either way you are calling ortiz an inferior hitter in the early innings and a batter who starting pitchers shouldnt be afraid of. im pretty sure ortiz has hit his fair share of HRs in the early innings and against tough pitchers. 30 if his 47 HRs this season came against starting pitching. my opinion, the way you are goin on about ortiz not meaning much because a DH and doesnt deserve a MVP award, you might as well be saying that you dont think he should be a Hall of Famer as well

    still doesnt overshadow how Ortiz came up in the clutch more than Arod did in the entire season. Ortiz in close and late situations had batted .346 with 11 Hrs and 33 RBIs actually Ortiz had led his team in Doubles, HRs, RBIs, Runs, OBP, Slug, Ops, Walks

    actually this past season Manny had changed his stance and struck out a huge number of times on pitches down and away. Again I say you have another thing coming if you think Ortiz will be lackluster. If Manny is so frigging more of a threat than Ortiz. Answer this: Ortiz was being intentionally walked so pitchers could instead face Manny. Period.

    Ortiz unlike Manny actually likes playing for Boston. He doesnt every month or so whine "I want a trade blah blah, I hate it here." so are you suggesting say if youkilis is batting ahead of manny, that he too would have a monster season that Ortiz had produced? yeah whats with us guys? walkoff hits and HRs are not "memorable". Give us a break dude. I just think Ortiz is being under-rated, everyone is thinking that if Manny leaves Papi will just hit 15-20 HRs and drive in under 75 Runs. He is simply one of the most feared batters of this era for pitchers to face. If papi is starting to be intentionally walked to get to Manny, thats saying a lot. second half: Ortiz- 77 for 273 (.282 avg) 16 Doubles, 26 HRs, 73 RBIs, 56 Runs, 55 Walks Manny- 78 for 248 (.315 avg) 14 Doubles, 23 HRs, 64 RBIs, 59 Runs, 41 Walks Production wise Ortiz had a better second half, and was delivering walkoff hits all the way through the last week of the season.

    okkk, it was the pitching not ortiz that lost the series but if you want stats... Alex Rodriguez: 2 for 15 (.133 avg) Double, no RBIs, 6 walks, 5 Ks, 1 for 2 SBs (defining moment grounded into a double play top of the 9th inning in game 5)--Had 2 costly errors as well David Ortiz: 4 for 12 (.333 avg) 2 Doubles, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 3 Ks hmmm
