  1. about chavez, i think this decision of his could backfire on him.
  2. you're one cool hell of a guy SFOC im def in for this as well Id like anything Red Sox or Patriots. most specifically a red sox 2006 calendar, something that ive done since i was little is write down the season schedule onto the calendar, projected starters, wins/losses. Yearly routine for me, haha my all-time fav restaraunt is the Texas Roadhouse. Even the home made biscuits and cinnamon butter has my mouth watering.
  3. thank you, words out of my mouth. Ortiz is through and through one of the best hitters in baseball today. Can Manny make any player belt up to 50 HRs and drive in just under 150 Runs? sure it helps, but just a little. Does anyone else remember that by season's end, Ortiz was being intentionally walked to get to Manny?? i think that speaks volumes. Yes I think given if Troy Glaus is transitioned over to 1st base, would stay healthier and not as much errors as he has done at 3rd base. And with a career .319 batting avg in Boston; it might bode well that he has a swing fit for Fenway Park. Im bit by bit warming up to the thought.
  4. I dont know what to think about Troy Glaus. true he can have 40+ HRs and 100+ RBIs, and does have a career .319 batting avg at Fenway Park. --career .253 batting avg speaks words. Full seasons has struck out 140 or more times. --2003 and 2004 were injury marred seasons --error happy, five of his eight seasons in the majors has made 19 or more errors at 3rd base. --Him or Youk would have to transition to 1st base. who knows, maybe donning the red sox uniform and calling fenway park his home could erase those cons about him. :dunno: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/6063/career
  5. not necessarily. I do believe Ortiz could still have a great year with or without Manny Vlad this past season even with out a silver slugger behind him had 32 HRs and 108 RBIs, i know Papi and he could do the same or even better. No doubt one of the elite hitters of this time.
  6. if manny and vlad are able to over-do what Manny and Papi were past three seasons, then i'll be awe struck. undoubtedly papi and manny have been the best 1-2 punch in baseball since the Ted Williams era. No way of arguing, the stats back themselves up Papi/Manny duo 2003 - 2005 seasons 244 HRs, 766 RBIs
  7. be that as it may, its looking like the angels the most likely to deal with Sox; behind it being the mets, diamondbacks and rangers remember that manny decides what team to be traded to
  8. im not guessing who we would get from boston.com Darin Erstad will be more of the odd man out. Chone Figgins is their best leadoff hitter they have had in some time.
  9. notable news for other teams i think this past season should have proved enough Tony can be a reliable starter. hell even for some reason the royals of all teams had him be a utility man. He's capable of being a .300 hitter, not one to hit HR's but can drive in RBIs when there is RISP, and errors come far part from one another.
  10. i think Jeter's star presence and the fact that he played 159 games opposed to Orlando's 141 had helped him but still... Jeter- 15 errors (.979 fielding %) Cabrera- 7 errors (.988 fielding %)
  11. Oh Captain my Captain-- first gold glove award in his career, well deserved Cap
  12. i dont think a manny for vlad trade would really happen. As reported Manny if a trade is done with the angels, would be sent to them in return for starting pitcher Ervin Santana, and 1st baseman Darin Erstad or Steve Finley ixnay on Finley
  13. it seems that cashman is doing what theo would do, preserve the future
  14. oops it seems that the white sox have declined Carl "No such thing as Dinosaurs" Everett's option to return in 2006. who saw that coming? what team hasnt he played on yet that would actually obtain him?
  15. Shaughnessy today trying to put theo in a bad light, hmm and he just so happens to work for the Boston Globe... coincidence?
  16. as what i had said in my post, that you replied to
  17. dont forget he had the bright idea of putting Kent and Bradley on the same team. which kinda started this public war in the dodgers clubhouse between the two. Something about theo which was golden about him, he knew how to pick players that have good clubhouse personalities and develop teamwork almost instantly
  18. screwed in a sense that the red sox from today have 9 days to find a GM, because starting on the 11th free agent players can go talking to other teams. Johnny Damon, Bill Mueller, Mike Myers, Chad Bradford, and Tony G being among those free agent players. Now instead of the main priority of 1st re-signing Damon, this will have to be set aside for finding a new GM which i hope is quickly resolved. also we dont know if the new GM will or will not trade away the sox's prized "untouchable" prospects, most of whom mind you were selected and drafted by theo
  19. i dont want depodesta to come here as GM, bring on Kevin Towers please Sox. Its looking like he is the best option out there
  20. they offered him $4.5 million/3 season deal ($1.5 million a season) which wouldve made him one of the most paid GMs. this had nothing to do with money but the atmosphere he had with larry luchino and john henry in the F.O. i agree 100%. In a recent inreview Damon was quoted as "I hope Theo is here when I am able to negotiate coming back."
  21. swap of GMs could be in store its now looking like the #1 candidate to be GM of the Sox is ex-Dodgers GM DePodesta. And the Dodgers owned by Boston native McCourt will sure to be calling up Theo. on CBS however its being reported Kevin Towers from san deigo is appearing to stand out more as likely to come to Boston...
  22. just f***ing god damn wow!!!!!!!!!!!! this puts our offseason into disarray
  23. here's an article from boston.com, i would paste and copy but it would be a long post. its basically exactly what we've been talking about. so good to hear we are on the same page of what could happen. http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/wilbur/sports_blog/blog/2005/10/31/angel_food_for_thought/
  24. i do like that lineup and rotation and as for the bullpen lets say wells is traded for otsuka, and by some means the sox are able to grasp onto bj ryan or Scott Eyre long relief- Lenny DiNardo lefty situation- Mike Myers set up men- Akiniro Otsuka Mike Timlin BJ Ryan/Scott Eyre closer- Keith Foulke in his 2004 form a reliable bullpen to say the least course Manny DelCarmen and Craig hansen will get call ups the course of 2006. IMO look for Manny to fill in Timlin's role come 2007
  25. i agree with you about otsuka after looking over his career stats, if padres were to deal lawrence. sox could try and pull a 3 team deal between them, pods, and devil rays who will gladly take starting pitching at this time. just a thought Sox getting Aubrey Huff and Otsuka and a prospect in the deal. Padres get Wells from the Sox and D-Rays could offer an outfielder considering they have a surplus in the majors and triple A of outfielders. Baldelli will be back in full force in 2006, so any of the others could be the odd man out. (Giles could be goin to another team, even if he stays it would be insurance for them considering he will turn 35 in the spring) Devil Rays get Arroyo, Lawrence
