  1. that would be a negative on the sox playing the dodgers in 2006. the regular season anyway
  2. ok, at least i can breathe sigh of relief he wont be in pinstripes for 06. Grady, Lowe, Mueller, and Nomar is in the mix for an idiots reunion in LA. Could Damon be following suit as well? Millar might even try and follow them even if hed have to agree to not a starting role. .
  3. Well thats an optimistic post if I ever heard one... Yeah okkkk, cool Sox fan for making fun of this guy like that before the season even starts. How is a 1 season contract being offered to him a bad deal? This is good move by the Sox to bolster their pitching staff. If you saw his career stats, you would see 9 out of his 16 seasons he has produced ERAs of under 4. And no not eveyrone of their pitching staff is pushing 40. Schilling, Wakefield, Timlin, and Seanez are the only ones out of the 11/12 man staff.
  4. man, people always underestimate the Patriots. IMO the Buccaneers going into the game were ranked the 2nd best defense, which the Pats took to town. The front seven for the 2nd half of the season have become a brick wall to the run defense (100 rushing yards allowed the last 3 games). Even our secondar is starting to click (opponents last 3 games averaging under 175 passing yards a game). They are starting to gel on turnovers, a big bonus, and dont even get me started on the sacks now Simms needs an excedrin after being sacked 7 times. They got serious momentum after ridiculing a playoff potential team like that. The Jets and Dolphins games should be a breeze. Primed to win the 1st round and then head down to Indy.
  5. True, when you are able to trade away a backup catcher for an everyday 2nd baseman with a career .301 batting avg and former all-star... There is no thinking involved to pull that one
  6. I dont think trade ideas should really be discussed anymore as it is looking like close to 100% likely Manny will be in a red sox uniform on opening day.
  7. The Boston Globe is reporting that any Coco Crisp deal is likely for any team. Good, I know there would have been a riot of torches and pitchforks outside Fenway if they traded away Marte.
  8. All I have to say is: The AFC playoff teams and hopefuls are looking over their shoulders. The Patriots they had put out of their thoughts, is coming at them full force. Payton my boys will be seeing you later on
  9. Im glad the Sox stood their ground. According to several reports, the Orioles were asking for a top pitching prospect in Papelbon or Lester to go along with Manny and Arroyo/Clement. The Sox right away had said no thanks to that trade proposal.
  10. The Boston Herald is reporting that other teams are further along in negotiations with Alex Gonzalez than the Red Sox are. Rich Aurilla is another option Sox are considering. Aurilla by far stands as the better choice. He's more of a consistent batter than Gonzalez is and will also provide some solid D.
  11. i agree with you there. The Devil Rays front office acts like they are an elite team or just their mindset is like the easy mode in MLB 06 . I mean cmon they refused a trade straight up of Lugo for Marte. And according to Ken Rosenthal, they also did this...
  12. watch out for Villone, i saw his career stats and he is erratic when it comes to walks
  13. Yeah I was very perplexed at this. Mota was reportedly the clincher in a trade for Beckett. And Marte was the main acquisition in the Edgar trade. But both of them could be dealt without ever wearing a Sox jersey? Something just doesnt smell right.
  14. Arroyo for Crisp? Id do that
  15. im not oen to predict right away our season will be a wash because the blue jays will "easily" take the East. This is based on whats on paper. Whos' to say that both Halladay and Burnett could get hurt next season? Can Overbay repeat 2004 numbers? Will BJ Ryan revert to a year that Foulke had? Lets wait until the season is actually in motion to have more of an idea who is the best of the best. Our roster isnt completely set too as well.

  17. The rumors never die
  18. With how Nomar and the Sox Front Office had left on terms, I really cant get my hopes up for him coming back to Boston. The leading candidate is currently known to be former Marlin, Alex Gonzalez. Ive heard great things about his defense, especially the range he has. Downsides are he really lacks plate patience, never more than 33 walks in a season. And if signed, would probably start opening day as the #9 hitter.
  19. even said about mueller, when was the last time a shortstop made 30 errors? the closest was when Nomar made 25 in 2002
  20. if fenway park's field contributed greatly to his 30 errors.... why was he the only player to have more than 12 errors. Bill Mueller had ranked 2nd in errors at 11. Also of note, most of Rent's errors were throwing errors, which has nothing at all to do with the field he plays on.
