  1. i thought it shouldve been science for Tito to get out Wakefield, when Nevin was coming up to the plate with bases loaded. Nevin is now 8 for 19 against Wake with 3 HRs
  2. 11 pitch 1-2-3 inning for Wake
  3. well yea because talksox is a better place without you
  4. Hey Cora does make it better at the bottom of the lineup Gonzalez- 3 for 20 against Padilla (.150 avg) Cora- 6 for 13 against Padilla (.472 avg) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: J.T. Snow will be getting the start in tomorrow's game. Wily Mo Pena's official 1st start will come on Saturday against the Orioles' Bruce Chen. I am sure that tito will get him some ABs before the 5th game of the season instead of riding pine.
  5. I was thinking that they were gonna start Cora instead of Gonzalez. Cora has had better success against Padilla than Gonzo has
  6. Wakefield did end spring training as the best starting pitcher in the grapefruit league games, allowing 5 runs in 19 innings while striking out 14. Obviously the communication has been automatic with Josh Bard catching for him, so I'm optimisitic they can carry some of that from the past month.
  7. May Wake's knuckler be mighty and swift. He'll need it as his career stats and lineup matchups against Texas arent all that bright. We're behind you Wake, and Im sure the Sox bats will be tonight. Vicente Padilla (2 games vs. Boston, 0-1 record with a 15.00 ERA---1st career appearance at Ameriquest Field) Coco Crisp -- Mark Loretta, 5 for 14 (.357 avg) Double, HR, 3 RBIs, 2 Ks David Ortiz, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) Double, RBI Manny Ramirez, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) K Trot Nixon, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) Double, RBI, K Mike Lowell, 6 for 27 (.222 avg) 3 Doubles, 6 RBIs, 2 Walks, 2 Ks Kevin Youkilis -- Josh Bard -- Alex Gonzalez, 3 for 20 (.150 avg) 2 HRs, 4 RBIs, Walk, 4 Ks Alex Cora, 6 for 13 (.472 avg) 2 Ks Wily Mo Pena, 0 for 2, Walk, K, SB J.T. Snow, 3 for 16 (.188 avg) 2 Doubles, HR, RBI, 2 Walks, K Jason Varitek, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) Double, RBI, K Tim Wakefield (26 games vs. Texas, 7-12 record & 4 saves with a 5.95 ERA---Career at Ameriquest Field in 14 games, 4-9 record with a 5.40 ERA) Brad Wilkerson, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) Walk Michael Young, 6 for 24 (.250 avg) Double, HR, 4 RBIs, 2 Walks, 4 Ks Mark Teixeira, 4 for 20 (.200 avg) HR, 2 RBIs, 5 Ks Phil Nevin, 6 for 16 (.375 avg) Double, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, 2 Walks, 5 Ks Hank Blalock, 6 for 22 (.273 avg) 2 Doubles, 2 RBIs, Walk, 3 Ks Kevin Mench, 5 for 14 (.357 avg) 2 Doubles, HR, 4 RBIs, Walk, 2 Ks Laynce Nix, 4 for 12 (.333 avg) 2 Doubles, 2 RBIs, 2 Ks Rod Barajas, 4 for 12 (.333 avg) HR, 3 RBIs, 3 Ks Ian Kinsler -- Mark DeRosa, 0 for 1 D'Angelo Jimenez, 0 for 2, Walk, SB Gerald Laird, 0 for 3, K
  8. That was the growing agreement at first when Nomar all out became an all-star. He'll be in the Red Sox Hall of Fame, that goes without saying of course. Its my belief that he really has never been the same since his wrist was hit by a heater of a fastball. Though Im not sure which pitcher it was who drilled him with that. It has been a snowball effect since.
  9. actual respectable teams that have a lead of 10 or more early on, usually have their backups in by the 6th inning. For example in which 2 times the Sox beat NY 17-1 last season, regulars were being pulled early around that time. As the guys on WEEI are saying now, its arrogance to trot out the starting 9 for 6 ABs when the lead is already 10+ runs
  10. Agree with you on that and I dont think we are being ahead of ourselves here.
  11. They seem to buckle down when they are coined the favorites
  12. Oakland is fielding like they are the Kansas City Royals
  13. let alone it was Zito who started, a pitcher the Yankees have always hammered before
  14. haha look at how Damon's throw just slowly rolled into the infield, Im not missing that:D
  15. Well Saarloos is doing more of a commendable job pitching against NY thus far
  16. Welcome to Oakland Big Hurt, taking the Big Unit deep
  17. How long did RJ have to wait while 12 NY batters went up to the plate?
  18. eh as I said before, he has lost his last 5 straight decisions against NY. Now it will be 6, I wasnt expecting much out of him
  19. nope that would be a grand slam, see ya zito
  20. get zito out, hes done early on--he's never had success against the yankees and probably never will 60 pitches with just 1 inning done and bases loaded, that says enough
  21. A-Rod my boy, way to rebound on bobbling the ball, then well throwing it away. Extra points for giambi too
  22. Now that was a slick curve to make Damon look foolish, strike 3 and go sit down
  23. Ditto. But so far on defense he has made two "05 Renteria"-like errors.
