  1. The gaping hole is left by Bay, not Lowell. I wouldnt doubt Beltre giving a 25 HR/100 RBI season while playing half his games in Fenway. If they get Bay or Holliday, nothing but gravy
  2. Including the posting fee, $206 million for those 3 by the Red Sox. The Yankees spent $425 million on 3 players And Lugo should never be considered a free agent splash signing. Just like Carlos Silva shouldnt be for the Mariners (4 years/$48 million)
  3. This past season was the smallest amount of games he has played since 1998, also an injury marred season. Hard to judge him on the 2009 season, just as it was wrong for fans to judge Mike Lowell's hellish 2005 season Id still take Beltre over the Sox just giving up and hand Casey Kotchman a starting job Still holding out for a Cabrera/Gonzalez trade, but thats a pipe dream as Theo has a full grasp on his coveted prospects. The Hanley Ramirez trade is something he opposed, but was on hiatus when it happened
  4. Oh i didnt know that Hoffman is already guaranteed a roster spot lol There is possibility that the Yanks could resign Matsui
  5. Ive referenced his career home/road split stats before. On the road is considerably better than home games at Dodger Stadium and safeco
  6. Yeah probably haha Just like with the Scutaro signing, a Beltre signing will have the boards split
  7. Having safeco as a home and how the lineup has been erratic for the Mariners, Id say he put respectable numbers. This past season saw him limited to just 111 games, his lowest total since the 1998 season in LA. Most of his career, hes averaged 150 or more games In Seattle 2005- 19 HRs, 87 RBIs 2006- 25 HRs, 89 RBIs 2007- 26 HRs, 99 RBIs 2008- 25 HRs, 77 RBIs
  8. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2009/12/report_sox_acqu_1.html Depth move, nothing more
  9. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/alex-speier/2009/12/10/love-glove-why-beltre-being-targeted-sox Joe Maddon says that Beltre is the best defensive 3rd baseman he's seen in person, calling it stupid good And an interesting stat says that Beltre has made 17 more plays than the average third baseman over the past five years.
  10. 5 years younger, and more likely to stay healthy for a full season
  11. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/20091210mets_may_join_jason_bay_fray/ Sox are flirting idea with moving Ellsbury to left. The article suggests that the Sox could then sign Mike Cameron or (Gulp!) Coco Crisp to man center field
  12. This past season, Lowell was one of the worst fielding 3rd basemen. I dont have a link, but I heard it on weei from Sean MacAdams -------------------- Oh and to the posters who are saying Ramirez is too old to be in the minors. Food for thought, both Varitek and Posada really didnt get chance to start in the bigs until they were 27
  13. If they get Beltre. They will essentially be trading a guy with 1 testicle for a guy who injured his testicles this past season
  14. Regardless of the salary, this is a steal for Tampa Bay Jesse Chavez for Rafael Soriano
  15. Beltre is a gold glove defender and can easily give 20-25 HRs, 85-100 RBIs. Having pitcher's parks as his home parks skews his career stats. 287 on the road, .253 at home
  16. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/red_sox/index.php/2009/12/10/sox-nearing-deal-to-send-lowell-to-rangers/ It says hear that Ramirez is an offensive minded catcher with limited defensive skills. Those skills might force him to be a 1st base/DH type in the majors
  17. 25 year old catcher. Salty and Teagarden are blocking him. In 1800 minor league at bats he has a .299 avg and .398 obp
  18. Sox have their catcher of the future in the fold. If V-Mart is locked up, 2011 and beyond he would be 1st base/DH Farewell Mikey Lowell, thanks for the memories. I have to get tickets for the first rangers game at Fenway Park
  19. They are eating nearly all of his $12.5 million salary
  20. Im hoping Hermida stays as the 4th OF
  21. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/ I love going to Portland Sea Dogs game. Awesome to hear that Kelly is ticketed to be in the starting rotation. He will also get a ST invite
  22. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6039/splits;_ylt=AoopjJeXIDjxUUPDCV0WTvWFCLcF?year=career&type=Batting Lets look at his career home/road stats, shall we? Home (836 games)- 761 for 3013 (.253 avg) (.311 obp) (.416 slg) (.727 ops) 144 Doubles, 5 Triples, 113 HRs, 389 RBIs, 397 Runs, 234 Walks, 525 Ks, 60 for 87 SBs Road (845 games)- 939 for 3272 (.287 avg) (.338 obp) (.488 slg) (.826 ops) 204 Doubles, 21 Triples, 137 HRs, 517 RBIs, 431 Runs, 244 Walks, 559 Ks, 51 for 72 SBs EDIT: The Red Sox are shopping Mike Lowell, so they can officially clear space for Beltre http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2009/12/09/rumor-mill-at-this-hour-11-am-3/
