  1. Haha watching mlb network's hot stove. A quote from Dustin Pedroia "Tell Derek Jeter to enjoy his gold glove and silver slugger awards while he can."
  2. Why would the Braves sign Lackey? They already have a 6 man rotation of Hanson, Jurrigens, Vazquez, Lowe, Hudson and Kawakami. Holliday wants a big money contract, I dont see Atlanta dolling it out. Valverde is the most likely option but I dont think its likely because they gave a "potential" 2 year $13.5 million deal to Wagner. The 2nd year vests if he finishes 50 games
  3. I knew the story of his agent floating the idea of Wagner accepting arbitration was bluffing. Now if the Sox sign multiple type A's, do they have to give up the pick that they are getting from Atlanta?
  4. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10357594 Sox seriously interested in the oft-injured Rich Harden. Like last offseason, another signing that is "high risk/high reward". Couple reasons why I am wary about this is (1) of course his injury history, but also... In 26 starts in the National League, he pitched more than 6 innings just five of those 26 starts!! Innings pitched in the Major Leagues 2003- 74.2 innings 2004- 189.2 innings 2005- 128 innings 2006- 46.2 innings 2007- 25.2 innings 2008- 148 innings 2009- 141 innings
  5. Plus better than giving 3 years/$20 or more million and a top draft pick to get Scutaro
  6. Wilson Betemit by the way was signed to a minor league deal by the Royals
  7. Id take Phillips or Uggla gladly. Pedroia is such the pro
  8. True but 2 of those free agents this offseason are Bay and Holliday. I guess its bad taste in my mouth from last offseason's acquisitions of Penny (bust, released), Smoltz (bust, released), Baldelli (bust, couldnt stay healthy as 4th OF), and Saito (did decent job but not trusted for set up role) While 2010's class does look good, the biggest stars are likely to be pried away by the Yankees. Especially Mauer if the Twins dont lock him up
  9. Swisher was definitely a big part why the Yankees won it all.
  10. Ok Im hearing that the rejected offer to Bay was actually 5 years/$60 million
  11. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091130&content_id=7731550&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Not something I like seeing this morning "Tough Market may leave Sox at Status Quo Theo already eyeing 2010 free agents"
  12. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/magazine/specials/sportsman/2009/11/25/derek.jeter/index.html Sports Illustrated named Derek Jeter the Sportman of the year. Hes the first solo baseball player since Cal Ripken in 95 to get it.
  13. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10357594 Very interesting. If the Sox lose Bay, but sign Holliday and Scutaro... they will be in better draft position
  14. Really Id rather the Sox sign Lackey, and trade Clay in a package for Adrian Gonzalez
  15. http://www.npbtracker.com/2009/11/okajima-prioritizes-comfort-security/#content Hideki Okajima wants to works out a deal with the Sox, as he is arbitration eligible through 2012
  16. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5888/career;_ylt=Ate89CXA2FDWA51ym0kvY_WFCLcF In 1,888 games he has only played shortstop
  17. Updating from the "Halladay would approve trade to New York". Buster Onley lists Halladay's preferred destinations: Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Phillies I dont have a link because need subscription to "the Insider"
  18. Never trust a man when it looks like he bought his tie at the gift shop, after seeing Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat
  19. Thats been having me scratch my head as well. As the season was ending he was literally campaigning for the Sox to activate Gonzo's option. Now he's saying that Marco Scutaro is a premiere shortstop That last part he did actually say on the late edition of Sports Tonight
  20. Heyy yeah Ive just been working a lot, and personal s*** that I have had to deal with. Hopefully 2010 turns out to be a better year. Thanks always good to hear compliments like that. And I agree, the Sox shouldve activated A-Gon's option or rip it up and make a deal similar to Toronto's. Instead they said "well you just be patient as we look at other options." I dont blame him for bolting to Toronto. They already spurned him once before, his stellar defensive campaign (Jeter got gold glove over him??) and went for Lugo because "we needed more offense from the position"
  21. If the Sox sign Scutaro, they will have given 3 overpriced contracts to shortstops in just the last 5 years (E-Rent: $40 million, Lugo: $36 million, Scutaro $20 +/- million)
  22. Tejada's defensive skills have really declined. This past season in Houston he was looking like Rent a-wreck in 2005. At this stage, some scouts say he's better off being plugged at 3rd base This free agent market is just weak all around. Well except relief pitchers, good crop of them
  23. Joba is lucky he isnt in the NL. Opposing pitchers would be tempted to brush him back. Sensitive prick Sox have the Yankee's number thus far this season. Good to see Lester and Beckett show up for this series. The Yankees bullpen is doing worse than I imagined they would. Props to Robertson though, allowing just 1 inherited runner to score when he came on with bases loaded/0 outs. I think Bailey shouldve been rung up but Ill take the extra run Doesnt matter much, but this is the updated batter vs pitcher matchups Beckett this season vs New York in 2 games, 1-0 with an 11.00 ERA. On the road in 3 games, 1-2 with a 7.78 ERA Joba this season vs Boston in 2 games, 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA
  24. This new Yankee Stadium just isnt intimidating as the old one, its actually quieter. Hey Yankee execs slashing those ticket prices to $600 still wont cut it!
  25. He's still throwing 95, his control has hurt him this season EDIT: Strikeout!! Sox offense couldve scored more, Tito was trigger happy to get to Papelbon. Ill take it, 16-10
