  1. Ryan Phillips continuing to thrive, now in winterball:
  2. Theres no room for the Yankees to have Soriano -- He plays 2nd base, which is locked down for awhile by Robinson Cano -- And he plays the outfield... Matsui, Damon & Abreu easily have those positions
  3. Glavine was able to out duel Weaver in a 2-0 win over the Cards. The 2 runs came off of Beltran's bat in the 6th inning with 2 outs as he knocked one out of the park. Game 2 Info: Series: Mets lead 1-0 Date: Friday, October 13, 2006 First Pitch: 8:05 pm ET Venue: Shea Stadium, New York TV: FOX Starting Pitchers: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_112020.jpg http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_429720.jpg #29 Chris Carpenter 2-0, 2.03 ERA #33 John Maine 0-0, 2.08 ERA --
  4. Where are people getting that the Yankees were going to retain Lidle?? He was about to enter free agency, and NY was all but set to say goodbye to him. They asked for Lidle more or less because they knew thats who the Sox wanted to get during the trading deadline.
  5. Great move by Bowden holding onto Soriano at the trade deadline when teams were offering him quite alluring packages:rolleyes:

  7. Correct, which made it more appealing for New Yok to ask for him to be included in the deal.
  8. The thought of the manner in how he died in NY will surely grip at the hearts of New Yorkers, when fans are able to join in a silent moment as the Yankees begin their new season. Let alone it happened 5 miles away from the WTC site, and fell on 10/11 (a date too much chillingly simlilar) Yea he didnt have the best of careers that many young ballplayers hope for. That shouldnt stand in the way of people honoring him in a brief moment of silence before MLB gets on with a new season. He was just a guy going back home to see his wife and kid. His death will not be in vain and has shown many again that "Baseball is just a game". Even moreso it occured during the midst of all of America tuned to October games. Me & my friends are doing a tradition of attending each home opener, and we're hoping to see that at Fenway Park.

  10. As expected, people are starting to publish their tribute slideshows to Cory Lidle on youtube. Personally, this one stands out to me. No doubt all home openers in April will have a moment of silence for him, cant imagine how emotional it will be in New York for that.
  11. Yeah because he's such the Jaret Wright 5th starter for us Its a toss up when he faces the Yankees in the future. 2 bad starts, 2 quality starts while notching a W
  12. Right Beckett & Wright are the exact same type of pitcher. I'll just keep soaking in how Yankee fans triely believe Beckett's career will continue to look like this past season
  13. http://www.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2001/03/05/sp_lidle.jpg Needless to say, I was just shell-shocked to hear this news coming into work. -----Rest in Peace Cory-----
  14. --Jef Bagwell is a future HOF who banged out around 450 Homeruns --Arroyo is an All-Star & possible Cy Young candidate in the NL, but in Boston he's a 5th starter against the AL lineups
  15. Game 2 Info: Series: Detroit leads 1-0 Date: Wednesday, October 11, 2006 First Pitch: 8:05 pm ET TV: FOX Starting Pitchers: http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_434378.jpg http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_117842.jpg #35 Justin Verlander 0-0, 5.06 ERA #25 Estaban Loaiza 0-0, 3.60 ERA --
  16. Yes because one bad season means Beckett is going to be a hack compared to Jaret Wright Continue living in your dream, Yankee fans
  17. You do know that before he had that freak injury, he was the team's 2nd best starter at the time, right? At that point he had a 4.13 ERA and led the team in innings pitched. He's still got the stuff to be a 5th starter for the team, 2007 is looking like his last year anyway. Also if your scenario had happened, the Sox would acquire another free agent starting pitcher instead of giving the vacant spot to Snyder, Tavarez, Hansack or Gabbard.
  18. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2006/10/10/sports/AS_SPT_BBL_Matsuzaka_Majors.php Its official now, let the bidding wars & rumor mill start churning up. ESPN radio has said the top 3 suitors are the Yankees, Red Sox & Mariners
  19. Still I look at his streak of 6, 7 quality starts before the last game of the year vs Tampa where Tto left him in too long in the 7th inning. He dint relieve Beckett until after he allowed 7 straight batters to reach base. Purely unacceptable as a manager. Before then, his streak had an ERA of just over 3. He had 6 bad starts out of what 34? Take those out and you have a very good ERA. His win total also wouldve been higher if not for B-grade lineups backing him up in the 2nd half. Lowering his HR by a big margin in the 2nd half proved to me some that he can be able to adjust. He's 26, dont count him out so quickly.
