  1. Young is a free agent after the 07 season
  2. eh Id say the Yankees are the most hated/scrutizined team in baseball, not just from a Sox fan's perspective
  3. Im sure you mean staff, not rotation. MDC is supposed to be the 8th inning guy of the future, Hansen the closer of the future. Still hope (minimal yes) with Hansen who is just 22. He needs to start the season in Triple A and lock some f***ing composure down Im also sitting pretty that fans of any team are counting out a rookie who played in baseball for like 5 weeks
  4. Damon was offered 4 years/$40 million --I dont get your reasoning how the team accepting Sheffield will not ask NY to send ANY cash considerations.
  5. Barry Bonds has said in the past that he hates Boston, his father (biggest influence in his life) hates Boston even more with a passion. Im just scratching my head on this one little thing One of the reason the Sox FO has tried to cast off Manny somewhere was because of his attitude, so this very same FO would gun hard after Bonds who would be trying to squash the HR record?? ESPN would be camped out on Yawkey Way each day, Boston would become a hated team in the AL just because of this addition. Not to mention, he's a clubhouse cancer. The two sides simply do not match
  6. um what position would the Yankees put Soriano at?
  7. Anybody remember a more boring world series?
  8. Not all trades are hardly good for both sides... How about this recent one? New York- Bobby Abreu, Cory Lidle Philadelphia- cash, 3 crap prospects
  9. 1) The 3 players would make an estimated combined $11 million, more than a 1/3 I believe of Manny's $19 million payday Orlando Cabrera is still locked up for another 2 years. Howie Kendrick & Brandon Wood are knocking at the doors & are seen as the DP of the Angels future. Hence Cabrera is well... expendable So I guess a Yankee fans' understanding is that the Sox can only get pez dispensers for trading a 1st ballot HOF who can still have 40 HR/120+ RBI seasons?
  10. Until I see him prove it in the 07 season, im chalking this up as being hopeful... his wrist injury was a serious one and didnt really do anything when he came back
  11. Disputing a player's first full season as "what he will always be, not good" is kind of blind example, Brandon Inge 2004 (27 years old, Youk's age...) 13 HRs, 64 RBIs 2005 (28 years old) 16 HRs, 72 RBIs 2006 (29 years old) 27 HRs, 83 RBIs Youk's 2nd half tailed off due to strain from his first full season in the majors, coupled with players arent comfortable with (moving to different spots in the order almost each game)
  12. A Manny trade I wouldnt be much opposed to (under terms they get it done fast, to then sign a Soriano/Lee type) Boston- SP Ervin Santana SS Orlando Cabrera 1B Casey Kotchman Anaheim- LF Manny Ramirez cash considerations throw-in prospect or 2 The Sox lock down a 24 year old stud pitcher. An 08 rotation of Beckett, Papelbon, Santana, Lester is very good to think about. The Angels have budding prospects Wood and Kendrick making their presence noted, making Orlando Cabrera expendable.
  13. ok good, now 15 days & counting...
  14. Let Ellsbury get his Triple A seasoning before thorwing him out into the big leagues. No doubt there's a very good chance of him being the starting center fielder in 08
  15. Game 5 Info: Series: Cards lead 3-1 Date: Friday, October 27, 2006 First Pitch: 8:05 pm ET Venue: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri Starting Pitchers: http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_434378.jpg http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_213711.jpg #35 Justin Verlander 1-1, 7.47 ERA #36 Jeff Weaver 2-2, 2.91 ERA --
  16. My main point is that only a GM without a brain would not ask the Yankees to assume any part of his $13 million About Lidge, Im sure if the Astros were to trade him who is still capable of being his all-star closer self... they would ask for a young player with his best days ahead of him. Not a clubhouse cancer, steroid raged, brink of retirement player who might still be able to hit some out of the park
  17. So any GM with no common sense would send the Yankees a good player & not ask NY to give them ANY of the salary?? Thats assuming wayy too much
  18. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/15859067.htm The Padres' manager of 12 years, Bruce Bochy, has switched sides and is set to become the manager of the San Francicso Giants
  19. Also needless to say, GMs know going in that Sheffield doesnt exactly embody clubhouse chemistry
  20. The Sox owed 3 years/$30 million to Edgar Renteria. Coming off a disastrous 30 error season coupled with OK offense, Atlanta called up Boston right away and sent top 3B prospect Andy Marte to Boston. The San Diego Padres is the most viable option, the 2 teams love to be business partners
  21. Marte was only technically in the system from mid December to late January/early February when he was sent to Cleveland
  22. Boras also says that Arod needs to play in more post season games to rid himself of his playoff struggles with NY
  23.
