They are not going to rid themselves of Wakefield in his probable last season in the majors just because of who's catching him. He's a 5th starter who'll give you a respectable 4-4.5 ERA, costs $4 million and can easily rack up 200 innings. The guy signed a lifetime contract with the Red Sox, give him his due and let him finish out his career as it should... as a Red Sox

Umm, 1 the Sox are not going to trade Wakefield. Especially if he's entering his last season in the majors 2, lets see he'll be entering his 13th season with the Sox... Do you think he falls under the 10/5 rule?

If Kottaras is indeed in line to be the Sox's next starting catcher, he should get a full season's work in Pawtucket. Not being thown into the fire as a backup catcher who has to learn how to catch a pitch that is barely used nowadays.
