  1. Tip of the cap to "SuperManny", you were indeed right. The rumored $38.5 million turned out to be full of phony years & inflated salary Wes Welker seems to be a good fit for the Patriots system. The front office is making some sound moves and its still a month away from the draft. So far the additions of Thomas, Brady, Morris, Welker and whoever they draft gives the Pats a considerable edge to win the East again
  2. Pedroia's ranking in rotoworld's top 150 prospects
  3. Nope, none whatsoever. Spring training is sometimes hard to gauge how guys will be. Kieth Foulke was bad in spring training of 04, he turned out fine in the season I heard. Last year Mike Lowell was struggling to bring the bat to the plate and we were all speculating JT Snow at 1st, and Youkilis at 3rd
  4. Again 700 to net a package like Cordero... Last time I checked Delcarmen wasnt part of Bowden's asking price. We're talking about a hefty price of Bucholz (or Bowden), Ellsbury, Hansen
  5. 700, though I do agree with you that they were foolish to refuse to give up MDC in package for Todd Helton... not the same about Chad Cordero. See, I have never heard his name really in the talks with the Nationals. They want a package like Hansen, Bucholz (or Bowden), and Ellsbury. So far the only way for Murphys to make is the team is for either Hinske has to be traded/released before the end of spring training. Or the Sox would open the season with 14 positional players (including Murphy), and an 11 man pitching staff
  6. Damn... no doubt he would be a good pickup but the Pats giving him 7 years/$38.5 million after his career year of 687 yards?
  7. Most scouts project Ellsbury to be at most... prototypical leadoff hitter, .300+ avg consistently, good obp, hard to strike out, 10 HRs max, 30+ SBs, and many seem to agree he's a gold glover in the making But as of right now lets just sit back as the kid has some fun in ST
  8. Ellsbury pinch ran for David Murphy. Out of the blue he then had an un-contested stolen base of 2nd
  9. What a f***ing 9th inning by the kids, including the ever so fast Ellsbury who just scored on a 2 out single from 2nd base to tie the game. That hit hit coming by the way of Chad Spann knocking in 2 runs. Before him David Murphy had an RBI single, and George Kottaras took a gamble going from 1st to 3rd base
  10. Manny Delcarmen mustve thrown 40+ pitches in the 0.2 inning he pitched where thus far he has given up 3 runs on 3 Hits, 2 Walks.
  11. EDIT: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/ The Pats have officially announced the signings of three players: Linebacker Adalias Thomas, running back Sammy Morris, and tight end Kyle Brady. They're now courting free agent wide receiver Wes Welker who caught 67 passes last year for Miami
  12. Papelbon Ks the side in his first inning All on fastballs already peaking at 94 EDIT: :papelbon: just finished his 2nd inning of work, 1-2-3 with a K. Oh thanks to NESN for playing the entire Wakefield post outing conference during it. Anyways 6 men up, 6 men down, 4 Ks
  13. the doug mirabelli for mark loretta trade turned out to be a steal
  14. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2007/03/02/patriots_expecting_thomas/ The Pats have also met with veteran tight end Kyle Brady who nowadays is best known for his blocking. Also meeting with running back Sammy Morris Other news: Offensive lineman Billy Yates has resigned to 3 years $2.1 million 2005 mid-season pickup Heath Evans resigned to a 2 year deal Not mentioned on this article, but coming from Weei that the Pats are trying to resign Randall Gay to a 2 year deal
  15. Gary Matthews Jr having a career year all of a sudden in 2006... hmm
  16. Considering Jacoby started the 06 season in Single A Wilmington, I dont think they expected him to rise up the ladder so quickly in 1 year.
  17. Thanks for the good news BoSox With the cap, the Pats follow suit by the Red Sox and make an impact signing right out of the gate
  18. I got the stats from boston.com, i dont think they count those game in the grapefruit league stats. But eh take it up with them if you want
  19. Sorry for double post Thought it would be good to keep everyone updated on the stats of the players are said to be in the running. Right now the top 4 are Joel Pineiro, Brendan Donnelly, Mike Timlin and eek gad Julian Tavarez Brendan Donnelly- 2 games, 2 innings, 1 Hit, 3 Ks Joel Pineiro- 1 game, 1 inning, 2 Hits, 1 Run (unearned) Julian Tavarez- 1 game, 1 inning, 4 Hits, 3 Runs Miker Timlin- Being held out because of sore back I'll be sure to update
  20. In spring training i dont care about wins/losses, its all practice
  21. I am perplexed that they didnt put Matsuzaka's actual name down, in the game its Tate Baik. I had to edit the name. Then I had to edit his face, because in my game he had red eyebrows with no hair on top Also I find funny but at the same time kind of a sucker punch to Dustin Pedroia... it says his name but his picture, game appearance are not him, its the former Sox Dustan Mohr. For some reason thats been a problkem, I remember yahoo sports & redsox.com for awhile having the wrong picture in there. Ive just played 1 spring training game so far, more to come
  22. Wakefield is paid at a paltry $4 million, a deal as ever for a 5th starter in this day & age. Guys Im not ready at all to jump off the deep end about Schilling, its not set in stone that he is set to bid Boston adieu
  23. Info courtesy of rotoworld Spann made 2 errors again, this time facing the Blue Jays. That gives him 4 errors in the past 24 hours. White he had a very productive season in Portland, .297 avg, 10 HRs, 50 RBIs.. defense has always been a stichler for him. If he wants to get even a sniff of consideration for 3rd base auditions (if Mike Lowell leaves) he needs to turn a complete 180
