  1. Check is in the mail, SFOC EDIT: Pleasure doing business with you Jacksonian . No offense for me keeping Dan Haren, he has a good chance to be the ace of the A's. I like my fantasy pitching duo of Matsuzaka & Haren At same time you get the young rookie Matt Cain who should have a good sophmore year in the NL West
  2. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=189826 Another report saying Tavarez is set to be the opening day closer, at least for the first 6 days of the season before Timlin comes back. It says Joel Pineiro only has a shot if he's lights out for the rest of ST. Funny how Michael Silverman complains about Pineiro's 13 hits in 9 innings but doesnt account the streak of 7.1 scoreless innings. Also funny how he doesnt account that in 12.2 innings, Tavarez has walked 7 and hit 3 batters. Oh yea Tito he just knows how to throw strikes. Earth to Silverman, when was Tavarez pitching good relief in close games for the Sox?
  3. Im sure if docs OK'd Papelbon to remain the closer, the Sox wouldve kept him there I dont think Okajima is going to be a bust signing. He could very well be an under the radar good reliever for Boston with a lot of K's early on
  4. Last night's game he also got on base 2 times in 4 ABs. He is now up to a .243 avg/.383 obp Dusty's just showing his track record. Thus far in the Sox system whenever he is promoted or starts a new season, he has a slow start and then he just needs one game to put everything into cruise control. Case in point, his majors debut: 4 for 41 (.091 avg) 1 Double, 1 RBI, 1 Run, 1 Walk, 3 Ks Sept 9 game vs KC, hit first Homerun 13 for 48 (.276 avg) 3 Doubles, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 6 Runs, 6 Walks, 4 Ks
  5. No doubt I was just saying he needs to stop relying on the heat if he gets in trouble. EDIT: Ok Im scractching my head on this one. The writers of baseball prospectus were on Boston's Fox morning news show, one of them by the way was a woman with a really low voice I swear she's a tranny. Anyways they were asked what the projection is for Boston.... 87 wins. 87 Wins? A team that has immensely upgraded the rotation from the end of last season and improved it lineup... is just 1 win better than the 2006 team?
  6. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070321&content_id=1852794&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos Mike Timlin will be placed on the DL. The Sox are hopeful he'll be back by the April 10 home opener. Now even more of a possibility we'll be seeing Tito call on Tavarez late in a close game We're probably looking at an opening day bullpen of (if no moves are made): Kyle Snyder, Manny Delcarmen, J.C. Romero, Brendan Donnelly, Hideki Okajima, Julian Tavarez, Joel Pineiro
  7. Beckett admitted that he got away from the offspeed stuff once as he would say it "the wheels fell off". This is def something Varitek needs to stray him away from. We saw too much last year that when he would get in trouble, he'd be throwing flat fastball after flat fastball
  8. 700, never doubt ORS' insight. Before ST even started he was telling all of us not to completely throw Romero out the dorr so quickly. Thus far he has proven himself Yes Romero & Okajima are set to be the lefties in the pen. Okajima's 2 year contract (w/option for 3d year) and productive ST merits him to make the team
  9. And yet he's the best hitter this ST
  10. Fred, where have you heard that Lester hasnt been sharp in ST? Ive heard jus glowing reviews from the games they have had him pitch in. My money is on him taking Wake's spot mid season
  11. Weaver worked a lot of innings last year, a considerable bump from the 2005 season. Also there's been reports of problems with his arm. Im expecting a regression from what he did in his rookie year
  12. Spring pitching stats (not including games vs minor league/college teams) boston.com/sports
  13. Very true fred, just please keep the faith EDIT: per rotoworld The Sox have themselves 2 outfielders (Moss, Murphy) who both are capable of competing for a starting outfield gig. Sox could net some decent relief help in return. Id be surprised if both of them, or even just 1, are still here a year from now
  14. Pineiro is now up to 6.1 scoreless innings, during that streak he has struck out 6. What I liked seeing is him getting out of a jam against major league hitters. It should be: 7th inning- Donnelly/Okajima 8th inning- Mike Timlin 9th inning Joel Pineiro (If Timlin begins season on DL) 7th inning- Hideki Okajima 8th inning- Brendan Donnelly 9th inning- Joel Pineiro
  15. Anuj, he was given 7 chances to save. He blew 4 of them. Even so in his first season he posted a 2.85 ERA, limited batters to a .228 avg, and struck out 46 in 41 innings pitched
  16. Umm Tavarez wasnt named the closer. Tito just out of his whack said "if the season started tomorrow, I would favor Tavarez". Ring Ring its for you, that statement doesnt mean that he is being heralded as the opening day closer. Delusion just keeps setting in for you I see
  17. Huh? I know Kyle Snyder has to be waived because he's out of options. Where did you hear that Pauely is a player they'll have to waive after ST?
