  1. Fred considering his best use is to be a lefty specialist, he shouldnt be on the mound really late in the games when its "on the line"
  2. Dont get too ahead of yourself. This was the same guy last year who said "Foulkie is our closer, theres no way around it". Its a fool's game to believe every word that comes out of a manager's or even player's mouth. Id be very surprised if he opened the season as the closer. He showed nothing last year in crunch situations as a reliever, nor has he shown anything this spring that merits even a look. He should be last behind Donnelly, Pineiro, Timlin, Hansen, the bat boy, etc.
  3. That would be 6 scoreless innings I believe Anuj, not sure if he pitched in todays game. Im surprised his name hasnt been tossed out for the empty spot the relievers are trying to compete for. That spot being empty unless MDC can prove its his to keep EDIT: Just checked his stats Anuj. He is currently 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA-- 8 innings, 6 Hits, 1 Run, 4 Ks
  4. Actually Ted it may surprise you... but Dunn is a great OBP guy. Yes averages 160-200 Ks a year, but he also averages 100+ Walks a year. He has a career .245 avg, .380 obp In his first six seasons he has amassed already 198 HRs, and he's just 27
  5. My expectations arent for him to turn into one of the elite 2nd baseman that there are currently (Cano, Utley). I think he's a Mark Loretta type just 13 years prior. He will give you steady defense, hit .280 to .300, knows how to work the strike zone (hard to K, makes the pitchers work), and is a gap drive hitter. Im sure his teammates and coaching staff are working with him to cut down on his big swing
  6. The same was said last year and Caldwell (lesser talent than Stallworth) did enough for the Pats as they came very close to winning their 4th superbowl in the last 6 years. Tom should have himself a much better receiving corps than the one that started the 2006 season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2794615 It appears he might just be in New England for 2007. This season he will be making $3.6 million. If they wish to retain his services for 2008 they must tack on a $6 million bonus, making his salary at $11 million for that season. By the way hope you have a good doctor too for Daniel Graham who signed the same type of deal but more money guaranteed, i kid
  7. Is that 4 straight scoreless innings for Pineiro?
  8. Well the first 2 innings the sound was off
  9. Why is the sound f***ing s***** on NESN?
  10. umm it was even obvious to the Tigers' announcers that Beckett wasnt head hunting. It was an off day when he couldnt get a good feel on any of his pitches. If Beckett wanted to hit Magglio, he wouldve done it with a fastball, not a curveball
  11. And most receivers who come into New England see them improve their career numbers with Brady at the helm. The Pats now have a receiving corps of Stallworth, Welker, Caldwell, Gaffney, Jackson, and the bench guys (Kight, Childress). At tight end they have the young solid duo of Watson & Thomas. They have only improved themselves and continue to bulk up the possibility of being a force to reckon with in the playoffs And Beckett the 6 years of course like other NFL contracts arent guaranteed.
  12. Hell yea thanks for the great news Nate!!
  13. So I guess the gold glover Mark Loretta can handle any bad feed coming from a shortstop. Might as well get that hit out now on Pedroia if you think he's going to be Renteria of 2005
  14. Fred the bullpen has even looked good the 2 games before yesterday. Theres still 3 weeks left of spring training, they should hae it sorted out by opening day http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/03/11/some_growling_by_tigers/ Well it appears that Pedroia's 2nd error was caused by a bad feed from Alex Cora
  15. My apologies, I read the boxscore quick
  16. 3.2 innings, 4 Hits, 5 Runs (2 ER), Walk, 2 Hit Batters, K Pedroia had misplayed two plays in the first inning that led to the 5 runs. He was scoreless for the rest of the 2.2 innings after being led off the field with a trainer.
  17. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/file2.JPG
  18. I guess he won those defense awards in a raffle then
  19. Even though its just ST... correction: you mean lets hope everyone can shake their low batting avg
  20. Very much unlike Pedroia. The season is still 3 weeks away, plenty of time for him to get himself into season mode. Kind of a sidenote here, on WEEI they said the scoreboard had him down as Dusty Pedroia
  21. Spring stats (not including vs college teams), per http://www.Boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox
