  1. Are you under the assumption that Drew pulls everything to right field? Drew's swing is known a lot of times to go towards center field and to the opposite field, hello green monster
  2. Well yea Hansack's stats look f***ed up if you throw him in that mix? I thought he pitched good in the 2 starts he had last year. His last start was the rain shortened 5 inning no-hitter, of course he couldve gone longer
  3. Doubtful Anuj, look for Pineiro to handle the 8th inning until Timlin comes back. Even after that he'd probably share 7th inning duties with Donnelly/Okajima
  4. Jacko, you ridiculed us all this winter, saying the Sox wont win much games without a pure closer? They have brought back their all-star closer, but now its being layed on thick about the middle relief. With the way youre talking Im very surprised you are expecting them to have a good season
  5. Well yea its an excellent article for Yankee fans to read, which Ken Rosenthal is. This wont be Rosenthal's last article of how the Sox could falter in different areas
  6. If Pineiro keeps pitching the way he has recently, he might be pitching his way to be one of the main set up men for Papelbon
  7. Are you just being a Yankee fan trying to get the Sox fans riled up & worried about the 07 season? Im not at all sideswiped about this move, dreading that the season is any jeopardy before its started Oh you forgot another option... TRADES
  8. The morale & optimism for the season really got drained from this board about Papelbon going back to close role
  9. Im sure you know that Jacksonian is a Yankees fan, right? Ok Metro, Wake is a 5th starter so of course no one is expecting him to be lights out. In his years as a Red Sox he has been known to be a workhorse, 175-200 innings pitcher, respectable average ERA of 4.25 to 4.50, 150 +/- Ks... all at the cost of a mere $4 million a year
  10. Smart trade- Doug Mirabelli for Mark Loretta. That was a steal of a trade for the Sox as Loretta turned in a solid stop gap year for the Sox, and was the starting All-Star 2nd baseman. Mirabelli was the worst hitter in baseball with at least 200 ABs Bad trade- Cla Meredith/Josh Bard for Doug Mirabelli The Andy Marte for Coco Crisp trade is looking bright on Cleveland's side of things. Marte is projected to a be a good slugging 3rd baseman for the Guardians. Meanwhile Coco is looking at 2007 as a make or break year because the Sox could be looking at better options: Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter, Ichiro Suzuki, and Jacoby Ellsbury
  11. Matsuzaka was a bad move? Alrighty
  12. From that list Id say Kason Gabbard. He did a good job up in the bigs, posting a 3.51 ERA including the 7 shutout innings against the White Sox. He also has just had a productive ST
  13. Hell yea, just got the news! Of course hopefully this move is being done with the OK by the docs Hey yankees, the race has just gotten tighter. Now I heard Tavarez will be the 5th starter but I think it will end up being a revolving door until Lester is ready or... Roger decides to come back EDIT: Guys I dont like this talk about him just being a stopgap. Closer to starter to closer to starter, etc, will just harpen his mechanics and maybe even his arm. If he wants to do it, and he has been approved by the medical staff, then I'll be filled with adrenaline that he could be the team's closer for a long time. A la Mariano
  14. Eh actually bosox, not meant to step on your toes, but Donnelly has tailed off since starting impressively early on. I think his ERA is around 7 or 8 now. Tavarez is lucky his spring ERA is just 3.55, he has allowed a good number of baserunners
  15. Tavarez will probably get the nod because he seems to be Tito's man love favorite this season (see Millar, Kapler). The best bet is Pineiro
  16. Pedroia even when he was promoted to the majors and trying to adjust, made the pitchers work. I remember some games where he'd average 5 pitches or more each AB. Also like Lorette, Pedroia is hard to strike out
