  1. Dont tell me that youre starting to fret that in 1 spring training game, Matsuzaka's control is off? This is the most walks he has given up all spring, before this outing he had just walked 2 About Craig Hansen & Manny Delcarmen, they need to stay in Pawtucket for the whole year. I do criticize the FO for not giving up either pitcher along with Lowell & Tavarez for Todd Helton
  2. Actually he is a younger Mark Loretta (hard to strike out, good line drive contact, steady defense, 7-10 HR power). Wait now youre saying you dont want him to become a Mark Loretta type?
  3. Yawn, did I miss anything guys? Oh its just the usual, 700 being a broken record about Pedroia
  4. I think its a good shot Anuj that Corey & Snyder will get those 2 spots Romero was whacked around in the 9th inning today giving up 5 runs. Mind you these 2 things, before today he had allowed just 1 run, and most of the batters he was facing were right handed. Funny before his meltdown with 2 outs Jerry said that Tito envisions Romero as a lefty who can come in late in the game and get both lefties & righties out. Im sorry Tito but no thanks. That role is perfect for Okajima, Romero can just be the specialist please
  5. Evil D, that was his 3rd in 15 ST games Im loving what Ive seen from Beckett. He's pitching the way he should and breaking off some great curves. If he listens to Varitek more & uses his offspeed pitches, expect a comeback season for sure. EDIT: Josh Beckett this spring in 5 starts (3-1, 3.10 ERA) 23.2 innings, 22 Hits, 13 Runs (8 ER), 4 Walks, 24 Ks
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore;_ylt=Avve6cC7EizCiNCcczsL_mYRvLYF?gid=270325106 Jeff Kartsens has had a solid spring to unofficially make him the favorite to be the team's 5th starter... solid until now that is. From what I can see (yahoo ST box scores suck) in his first 2 innings against Detroit he has given up 6 runs off of 6 hits. One of those hits coming from a Gary Sheffield HR EDIT: rotoworld um wow
  7. umm Gom maybe its just me but the worst trade since Sparky Lyle in 1972 was just maybe the Jeff Bagwell trade. Jeff Bagwell you know the sure thing to be in Hall of Fame? The jury is still out on Beckett, he's 27 this year and theres still time to make his case that the Sox did right trading for him
  8. Beckett hurt by 2 errors in the 1st inning that led to 1 run. He gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, but Lugo had a throwing error while doing a double play, and youkilis misplayaed a grounder that ended up going behind him
  9. Thats really optimistic, and Im a Pedroia supporter as they come. Im saying as of right now the same avg but 30 Doubles, 8 HRs, 50-60 RBIs
  10. Not related to the Sox top 50, but Foxsports Dayn Perry released his list of the top 100 prospects in baseball entering the 2007 season. Red Sox
  11. Ah Dusty I got your back any day, but I just have to laugh when I see this picture http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/sp/getty/ab/fullj.getty-73561083db014_boston_red_so_5_06_45_pm.jpg
  12. Yep mosox this year they'll open the year with 2 lefties in the pen. J.C. Romero will do a decent job if he is just used to face lefties. And I believe Okajima will be one of the bright lights in the pen as he is known to be tough on both lefties & righties, expect a lot of Ks early on They wont have to make a trade if one of them goes down or whatever because down in Pawtucket they'll have 2 lefty reliever (Breslow, Lopez)
  13. Zito's a flyball pitcher and his HR rate has been steadily increasing, and he pitched in the spacious McAfee Coliseum. He'd easily give up 30+ HRs in the AL East & having Fenway Park as his home. And yea Id be dreading his 4+ starts a year against New York. But eh believe what you want, Matsuzaka will be no better than a 4th starter or even worse
  14. rotoworld Stop, stop, this is killing me
  15. Matsuzaka has had hordes of media & photographers follow him around since he was in high school, thats over 8 years now. The kid has ice in his veins Zito in Fenway Park, in the AL East?
  16. Example, unfortunately for now Tavarez has been named the 5th starter. Although something interesting of note: I was reading in today's Boston Globe that Tavarez wasnt interested in talking about starting when asked yesterday. Usually he's quite gabby with the media
  17. Pettitte Mussina Pavano Igawa Karstens
  18. Wang has been placed on the DL, Yanks are lucky its early in the season per rotoworld
  19. 90 wins in the AL is goodbye October, in the NL... it means division title. If they play their cards right Ive got them down for the 92-95 range. That of course if the rotation stays on their feet, bullpen isnt worked a lot & finds nice surprises, and the offense remains one of the top 5 in baseball
  20. Eh with a healthy season I can think he can still get in the 18-24 HR range, considerable bump from what Trot gave us the last 3 years
