  1. back to back games started by Bedard where an obvious ball pitch on 3-2 count was called a strike. Shouldve been bases loaded with no outs Of course manny swings at the first pitch and bounces into the DP. He must be entering the 20s now to be among the league leaders EDIT: Its at 18 now, he ranks 3rd in the league
  2. Rooting for you Muprh. Meanwhile Gabbard has been the same type of pitcher for Texas that he was for us. His last start (2nd for Texas) was a win against Oakland. 6 innings, 5 Hits, 3 Runs (1 HR), 3 Walks, 4 Ks
  3. I went to a Sox/Orioles game earlier this year. These 2 guys were trying to start with all us Sox fans in the 3rd base side Orioles fan: Hey at least we didnt have to wait 86 years for 1 world series My friend's response: Yes true, but at least we wont have to wait 86 years for our team to even make the playoffs EDIT: The lineups are in and David Ortiz is back thanks to a cortisone shot. As I said in the beginning of this game thread, personally I wouldve given Youkils (1 for 16) or Lowell (1 for 12) a day off against Bedard. But heres hoping they make some good contact off of him. Drew is indeed off today with Wily Mo is getting his start
  4. Ortiz is questionable for tonight. Tito might have to consider giving Hinkse some playing time as Lowell and Youk are just a combined 2 for 28 against Bedard. Since Drew has been sitting against lefties and Wily Mo with good numbers against Bedard, he should be in line for another day off Matsuzaka this season on the road in 13 games, 7-5 with a 3.13 ERA Bedard this season vs Boston in 1 game, 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA. At home in 10 games, 4-3 with a 2.15 ERA
  5. Ok boys lets keep this going. Sox are playing the O's while... gasp the Yankees will be playing a 1st place team (Guardians) for the first time since the Angels in early July. Time to make some games up as the Sox enter the series with their big 3 of Beckett, Dice-K, and Schilling on his way back from the DL. Tonight tho will be the toughest as we see one hell of a pitching matchup in the form of Dice-K vs Bedard Game Info: Date: Friday, August 10, 2007 Teams: Boston Red Sox (69-45) @ Baltimore Orioles (52-61) First Pitch:7:05pm EDT Venue: Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_493137.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_407853.jpg Lets keep this comeback mojo rolling http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2005/09/07/1126085342_3351.jpg
  6. Im going tomorrow I have seats somewhere behind home plate. The futures game double header has set up nicely for pitching matchups. For the Lowell Spinners it will be rising pitching prospect Jose Capellan. He is one who pounds the strike zone, notice he has walked just 7 and allowed 42 hits in 53 innings (.219 avg). As well as 53 Ks and allowing just 1 HR in his 10 starts http://soxprospects.com/players/capellan-jose.htm For the Portland Seadogs it will be Michael Bowden, pysched it will be my first time to get a look at this kid. He was having a tough go around in the first half sporting a 5+ ERA. But since the all star break he has responded nicely in 4 starts, going 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA http://soxprospects.com/players/bowden-michael.htm
  7. I dont see how Wily Mo Pena could have supplanted Drew as the starter. Unless some team would actually be willing to take on Drew's gaudy 5 years/$70 million contract
  8. Lester clearly doesnt have his stuff, he's looked like the same pitcher who was struggling up in the bigs last year. Believe me I am happy about the Gagne trade, but at same time I was wary of them trading away a major league ready starter in the form of Kason Gabbard. He had really made a name for himself and pitched like he was a god in fenway Park. Im all for campaigning for Bucholz to get a shot. Lester's story is a great one but you have to put sentiment aside for quality Pedroia... he just keeps rolling along. As i said, I'll be sitting pretty when he becomes a fan favorite Oh and I guess tomorrow I'll have to continue my comeback mojo
  9. Cant catch any breaks. Ortiz is out of tonight's lineup with a sore shoulder, that being from his head first dive into 2nd base. The Orioles series is questionable for Ortiz. Manny the DH, Wily Mo in left. Ive updated the lineups
  10. Drew in center, Moss in right, Wily Mo in the parking lot Lester this season on the road in 4 games, 1-0 with a 6.43 ERA Moseley this season at home in 15 games, 4-0 with a 6.00 ERA
  11. Out the door for work, hadnt made a thread in awhile. Sox get your s*** together. Overall the facets of what make this a great team really havent showed up against a team they might be facing again in October. As Jerry said, things can snowball if a losing streak starts on the west coast road trips (like we saw in June). Tonights a toss up as it is Jon Lester vs Dustin Moseley. Yanks meanwhile tonight will have to face Halladay whil their ace Wang opposes him. I will do the matchups when I get back from work, tho I do know that Crisp has the day off and Drew will be playing in center field Game Info: Date: Wednesday, August 8, 2007 Teams: Boston Red Sox (68-46) @ Anaheim Angels (66-46) First Pitch: 10:05pm EDT Venue: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, California TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_452657.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_400291.jpg Its time for some comeback mojo http://images.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/_photos/2004-07-29-varitek-arod-ins.jpg
  12. Thank you Captain Obvious for that ground breaking discovery
  13. Yanks' schedule Tomorrow (tonight rather) Wang vs Halladay August 10 - 12 @ Cleveland August 13 - 15 vs Baltimore August 16 - 19 vs Detroit August 20 - 22 @ Anaheim August 24 - 27 @ Detroit August 28 - 30 vs Boston Sox's schedule Tomorrow- Lester vs Moseley (toss up) August 10 - 12 @ Baltimore August 13 - 15 vs Tampa Bay August 17 - 19 vs Anaheim (4 game series, DH on Friday) August 20 - 22 @ Tampa Bay August 23 - 26 @ Chicago August 28 - 30 @ New York
  14. Thanks Hale you f***er. Anyone else notice that when he sent Lowell he never looked toward home plate, he kept his eyes fixed on 2nd base. He mustve known right there that he should be wearing a dunce cap Best inning to get anything going. Now theyll face Speier, Shields, K-Rod to end the game
  15. Thanks f***ing Dale Sveum!!! You dont send them with no outs
  16. The night gets better as the juicer hits #756, great for the rest of the game thats what theyll be talking about. Nah Schil, it might be more tame, but for the rest of the week they'll be talking about 756, hall of fame, steroids. The talk will not go away until Bonds walks away from baseball So tomorrow we have Jon Lester vs Dustin Moseley. Could be a win, could be a loss. Lester is pitching the same way he did last year (5/6 innings, hit batters, walks, early deep pitch counts). While the yankees actually face a good pitcher, Wang vs halladay. So hopefully heading into the O's series we'll be up by 5 games
