  1. Please. The stars can say whatever they want and a player won't lay a finger on them. They get as much special treatment from the ref, Ovechkin and Crosby, that is, as any NBA player and nobody's going to touch some of these guys because if you touch Ovechkin, you'll be answering to Donald Brashear. The stars have other players do their bidding for them.
  2. To each his own. I love basketball. Basketball has it's flaws for sure, but the lack of personalities in hockey is a turnoff. I watched NHL All-Star break stuff, and while it's set up the same as the NBA, you don't see the players personalities show like you do with the NBA, which is half the fun -- seeing guys like Shaq, Agent Zero, etc. I do like college basketball more than the NBA, come tournament time, anyway, because it almost seems like NBA players are too good. 'll watch college basketball all day too. Just this weekend I was watching Moorehead vs. Atlanta Clark... I have no attachment to either team, couldn't tell you where Moorehead is and didn't know that Atlanta Clark was a college, even. Like I said, basketball has it's problems, but hockey's are far, far worse.
  3. Nah, the NHL sucks. Seen the ratings for their all-star game?
  4. Besides, we know he's already poised to jump on the Sabres bandwagon... Being a Detroit fan doesn't help the cause. Any time somebody is a fan of teams that aren't even geographically close to anyone and all those teams are/have been successful, chances are the person's a bandwagoner. The 49ers, Red Sox, Red Wings, and Mavericks... not one of those teams is close to any of the others and they've all been successful somewhat recently.
  5. How can you call anybody that had sex with Bridget Moinahoweverthef***youspellit stupid?
  6. I just know it was a picture of him smiling. Gerald deserved it but Dwight Howard got screwed. The sticker dunk should've been 10's. He should've been the one that lost to Gerald Green in the Finals.
  7. And in the Duncan/Oden "Once in a Decade" argument... I'd like to remind everyone of the forgotten big man -- perhaps because of who he was drafted with, Melo, D-Wade, and Lebron -- Chris Bosh. Averaging 23 and 11 up North. Also under 22. If anything, these three suggest a change away from the types of big men we know and towards a smaller, more athletic big man.
  8. I still have a difficult time giving the MVP to one of the worst defensive players at his position in the League. Defense will always make up half of the game. You can't be a liability on one end and be the MVP, in my mind. Gilbert is the same way, unfortunately... but Dirk may be an All NBA Defensive teamer this year! His offensive numbers aren't as good, though.
  9. I already want the All-Star break to be over... every time I see a shot of Vegas it makes me want to go even more... and since I still have about a four month wait... ugh...
  10. Durant may not go pro following this season... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2766880
  11. Duncan played four years in the ACC. It's impossible to overstate how much easier the transition from four year starter in the ACC to NBA is than High School to NBA.
  12. Dwight Howard's only 21 and is already an 18 and 12 player. And I'm looking at the Magic's roster and for the life of me, I can't find anybody as good as Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker to keep defenses honest.
  13. One shot... game on the line... I'll take Acie Law IV 10 times out of 10. None of the teams really stand out to me this year. I'm leaning towards UNC, though.
  14. Bill Russell was a 20 point, 20 rebound guy at San Fran so I don't really see how that's relevant. He's playing with one hand, sure... but for one, any good big man can score with either hand, and he's shooting from with 3 feet to begin with. And Ohio State's averaging 75 per game, which would rank pretty high among the big conference teams.
  15. Howard came out when Okafor did. The year after 'Melo, LeBron, and D-Wade. Amare came out the year before those three, I believe -- maybe the year before that, even. So Howard hasn't been in the League long, he's only 21 -- three years younger than Amare, for what it's worth.
  16. As much as I hate being realistic... Oden isn't dominating on the college level. Really good? Yeah. Dominant? Hardly. He's averaging 15 and 9 with a little over 3 blocks. What makes you think those numbers will improve as a rookie in the NBA?
  17. Could be, but Howard doesn't have half the talent around him that Amare does. I'll agree with the "for now" part, though, because Howard will be the best big man in the League soon.
  18. Spring training and batting practice. I love it, except for the new flap thingy on the side of all the BP caps. I may just have to pick one up. *edit: At least I think they're also the BP caps. I could be wrong, though. Either way, I'm officially excited for the season to start!
  19. ... Why don't you look above for an answer to your question. Who was the last good big man taken? How about Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire?
  20. With Oden the Celtics are a 50 win team? ********. The Cavaliers missed the playoffs the year they drafted Lebron and the Nuggets wouldn't have seen the playoffs if they hadn't signed Andre Miller, and traded for Marcus Camby the season before. And I doubt Oden will be better than Lebron or Carmelo were in their rookie campaigns. And Bosox, do us all a favor and stop trying to pass yourself off as a Celtics fan.
