  1. So essentially, you're basing your entire offenses ability to move the football on a 10th year RB who, last year, showed signs that his body could be breaking down and struggled greatly when he did see action, and an unproven rookie RB who may have been the product of a college system? You think an NFL D coordinator wouldn't be licking his chops when he sees as one-dimensional of an offense as that? If Branch doesn't come back, I can't wait till week 3 because my Broncos defense shut down your Patriots offense when you had a WR.
  2. If only it were that simple, eh? The Patriots were in the bottom 3rd of the league in rushing last year and averaged 3.4 YPC -- good only in comparison to Arizona's 3.2 YPC. I'm sure there's very few defenses in the league that fear that gameplan, especially if you don't have the WR's to keep defenses honest.
  3. If Ben Watson's your best option when it comes to the passing game you'll be screwed eventually against teams with athletic LB's. Look what he did against Denver in 2005 -- one catch for 6 yards in two games. I also think some of you guys are putting a little too much stock into the preseason.
  4. Here's something to chew on for every one who says that Dante Culpepper's success is largely based on Randy Moss. The best year of Dante Culpeppers career, and arguably one of the best in NFL history, was a year that Randy Moss only had 49 catches. Culpepper, that year, completed 330 passes to WR's not named Randy Moss that year. Miami has a better passing game (especially if the Patriots don't have Branch), running game, and at the very worst, their defense is equal to New Englands. This team won their last 6 games last year with Gus Frerotte. You're nuts if you think this team doesn't pose a very serious threat in the AFC East. And Peerless Price in Atlanta was a mistake from day one. He's a great number two WR -- but he's not a number one guy.
  5. Changed my mind. I will be cheering for the Florida Marlins to win the World Series from here on out.
  6. Not going to happen. In fact, not even close. As far as I've heard, the most teams are willing to part with to acquire Branch is a second round pick.
  7. Over a team that's been equally as dismantled by injuries -- if not more-so.
  8. I can quote definitions too, but what the hell does that have to do with anything?
  9. That's an ignorant statement. You know nothing about me. And the latter part of my statement referred to my work, aka my job which has nothing to do with sports.
  10. I don't agree with that at all. I've never been one to try at all in school, that doesn't mean I didn't work my ass off when I played football or that I don't work my ass off now.
  11. Droughns has been successful. It remains to be seen if Mike Anderson will, though. But I do agree... it's the system. Besides, they don't have much that would be worth much to the Texans. Ron Dayne or Mike Bell don't do them any good and Tatum Bell isn't an every down back yet. They'll be among the league leaders in rushing again, but it won't be because they've got the most talented RB's. I thoroughly believe that great, difference making Defensive Ends are harder to come by than difference making running backs. Football games are won and lost with the offensive and defensive lines. Domanick Davis will not be cut. You make room on your team for 25 year old RB's that have been as good as he has.
  12. Sorry I missed it, guys. I tried on two occassions to open the draft window and my browser froze each time.
  13. I think NFL Network got a lot of good games, actually. Obviously the Thanksgiving game -- Denver at KC -- is a good one, as you mentioned. But you don't think people will watch Green Bay/Minnesota in, possibly, the final home game of Brett Favre's career? KC/Oakland? Giants/Redskins? Dallas/Atlanta? Cinci/Baltimore? I think they did a fantastic job of picking games that, if not interesting because of how good the teams are, are interesting because they're great rivalries.
  14. Rockies or Twins.
  15. Lowe too. But yeah, it'd definetely be more appropriate... but then we'd have to rename all the threads in which he bitches about not resigning Damon and Pedro and it'd get kind of confusing with every f***ing thread having the same title.
  16. Jesus f***ing christ. Whatever. Seasons over.
  17. MDC is looking to challenge Beckett's walk total.
  18. Yep... four pitch walk. Though the last two looked good to me. Whatever. Beckett's awful -- can anybody actually defend him at this point?
  19. Bases loaded again -- A-Rod up. 4 pitch walk, I'm guessing.
  20. Can't believe we were actually expecting Beckett to possibly mantain the lead.
  21. Manny = God. No... no... no... Manny > God.
  22. Would you bet money on the Red Sox making the playoffs? It's not quitting, it's being realistic. I don't think this team is going to make the playoffs -- the question was meant to be answered with homerism aside. Doesn't mean I'm not going to watch every game I can and follow the team as I otherwise would.
  23. Yeah, it's Mesa because, I think, Vizquel said in his book that Mesa had a scared look in his eyes when he went in to pitch the 9th Inning of Game 7 of the World Series.
  24. I'll be realistic. I said they miss the playoffs.
