  1. Nice Papi. ORS, I know you know how long a game is. You also know that the job of a leadoff hitter is not necessarily to swing at the first pitch, or the second, of the game.
  2. Nice, 2nd and 3rd, 0 outs for who???
  3. Lugo seems to have pretty good ABs. He gets behind in the count often but hits well with 2 strikes and has worked a couple nice counts in the past week.
  4. Last night? Yep, we did. That's baseball.
  5. f***ing bloop singles.
  6. Painting those corners, staying out of the middle. Good start Josh!
  7. Schilling's record vs. A-Rod is much less important than Beckett's. We all watched the game last night, I saw one or two pitches in the lower-mid 90's (one fast ball to A-Rod hit 94). He's clearly on a decline. He's still one heck of a competetor and doesn't walk guys to hurt himself (often). Beckett on the other hand CURRENTLY has some of the best stuff in baseball. If he has his head about him he can make A-Rod look bad even when A-Rod is in this streak. Knock. Him. Down.
  8. Mariano Rivera blows the game tonight and its Torre's fault? I'm pretty sure I read Jacksonian praising bringing in Mariano when it happened... even if it was a little late it was still your closer that blew the game. Yes, your golden boy blew the game. :harhar:
  9. I'm still in favor of having Coco as a 4th OF if necessary. I know its not what we got him for, but who cares? He's versatile and very useful as a switchhitting 3 position player with speed and, hopefully, a decent OBP guy.
  10. I agree that A-Rod will get knocked on his ass if the chance arises. First, it can be stated--honestly--that it is just retaliation for Youkilis getting hit today. Second, everyone else in the league would understand and be grateful. The situation doesn't come up very often for A-Rod though. I think you need to be up by a run or two, he needs to be up with at least one out (preferably two), and there can't be anyone on base. I have NO problem if Beckett throws one or two up and in to set up his curveball. I think Dice-K would be even more innocent if he were to 'let one slip'. I'm 99% sure that A-Rod wouldn't come to the Red Sox. He would get his jab at the Yankees by leaving them despite their "love" for him, but he wouldn't go to Boston. Only scumbag stars go from one organization to the other. the funny thing is that I don't hear many yankee fans disagreeing about this. They say "he won't leave, he's doing well", we say "yeah, but you guys drove him into the dirt and treated him like he was a member of the Red Sox. Why would he want to stay?" and they are silent. If A-Rod stays there he's even more soulless than we thought. If he leaves then he backs up what most honest critics say: he's a smart, self-aware guy who managed to convince himself that clutch hitting exists. I think the tear he is on right now is proof enough that clutch hitting doesn't necessarily exist. A-Rod isn't suddenly a good clutch hitter, he's suddenly an ungodly hitter every at bat. The guy is raking for real right now and it is imperative that he gets knocked on his ass.
  11. I'm pretty sure the Chicago Cubs need a SS, I'm pretty sure they have lots of money and if they don't win it this year they're going to be spending again next year. My bet is the cubbies.
  12. I would rather throw a 4$ baseball at him tomorrow, right 'under' the hands. Seriously, make this guy a little less comfortable at the plate Beckett! Of course, if he's available I'm okay with A-Rod as the Sox starting SS. It ain't happening though.
  13. Jesus! (couldn't hit that well!)
  14. Cora isn't a starting MLB second baseman for a reason. All teams have had plenty of time to see wha the can do. He's also a more than adequate replacement at 2B or SS as needed. Let's not mess with a non-broken thing (that didn't make sense but it's about right )
  15. Great f***ing game. Because the Red Sox won. For a long time there it was quite depressing. An inch here, an inch there and we have a win on our hands. You could see Coco's face after he got the triple, basically saying "f*** you skeptical Sox fans!". I get the sense that there's a common sentiment about Coco: he's a very likeable guy who has some tools, including good speed, the ability to make a tough catch in CF, and the ability to play all three fields. If he's hitting well he is a good spray hitter who can make good contact. lately of course he's been anything but, but I really want this guy to do well and I hope we can be patient with him. I know it has been hard for me. Mariano looks lost, and in either case his stuff isn't that good right now. Honestly, for the past two years nearly every pitch has looked like a beach ball to me, though I know it isn't that easy. At this point, I would rather have Papelbon than Rivera and I think more and more people will agree as the year(s) go on.
  16. In any case, I think it will be a big deal when this kid is brought up. He is likely the next great Red Sox homegrown talent and there is much about the kid that the faithful will appreciate. His speed, fielding and ability to get on base will make him exciting. I really think he can steal 40 bags if they let him run.
  17. Power armed relievers? If the relievers are in the game that's fine. A ball at A-Rod will knock him out of his god-like streak. A ball at Papi will not. Let's get going with the bad blood. Let's see what happens when the Sox bring Papelbon in with a 4 run lead and plunk A-Rod on his wittle bittie pinkie fingur. :harhar: I'm not worried about 'power armed relievers'.
