  1. My suggestions for dismemberment of the Yankees: Derek Jeter: Drawn and quartered by NYPD Police horses. Alex Rodriguez: Thirty or forty dull-hatchet wielding blind children. Robinson Cano: Piano wire wrapped around thighs and shoulders, tied to a rock, and dropped from a great height. Nick Swisher: Hungry pack animals, preferably dingoes or coyotes. Mark Teixeira: Chained to nuclear weapon set to detonate, given hacksaw with several missing teeth, dirty rag to bite down on, and inadequate timing. Raul Ibanez: Each limb frozen separately in liquid nitrogen, shattered. Eric Chavez: Necrotizing fasciitis Joe Girardi: Angry gorilla
  2. I would gladly give up food and water altogether if I could replace it with 8 glasses of Yankee-fan tears a day. Your anguish nourishes me, jacko. It is a cool breeze on a stifling summer day.
  3. I hate Jeter just as much as every other person in the universe who isn't a Yankees fan, but I have to admit I don't see him as the kind of guy who would chase a record to the detriment of a team rather than retire because he sucks. I don't think he'd stay on the team if he was a true offensive liability just to get a record, and I don't think the Yankees would let it happen. Granted, he isn't Pete Rosing it up right now, but that's a lot different than being Craig Counsell for three seasons just to try to break a record. I don't see it happening. He'd need like five or six more seasons and he doesn't have that in him.
  4. I think the SO record you mentioned is going to be broken. The stats you posted with it for Thome and Dunn make it seem almost certain. As far as the HR and XBH record, a couple seasons ago I would have been convinced that A-Rod would eventually break them, but considering how he has played and how injury-prone he has been of late, I'm not as confident anymore. Regardless, I think the HR and XBH, as well as the RBI and 2B records, will eventually be broken. None of them are untouchable given enough time, I think. That goes for DiMaggios streak as well. I think it is going to be tough to beat, but I think it can be done. Ripken's streak will never be beaten with the way the DL is utilized these days, and nor will Young's win record for the same reason, along with the increased use of relievers compared to the early years of baseball. The record I am interested in seeing broken is the HR record, just because I would rather have anyone but Bonds be the champion. Hell, I'd rather see a Yankee have the title than Bonds.
  5. Where are all of the people who thought Iglesias was the second coming of Christ and the cure for cancer all rolled into one?
  6. To be fair, it's possible Saltalamacchia is just dedicated to wind power. I mean, you can't fault him if he's a proponent of clean energy. What a guy!
  7. He should be fired. Actually, he should never have been hired in the first place.
  8. And yet I still cringe less watching him than I do while watching Saltalamacchia.
  9. Agreed. I'd give my right arm...well, no, actually, I'd give someone else's right arm for Papelbon back in a Sox uniform.
  10. This was the worst gamethread in a while.
  11. Actually, there is only one reason I don't fix the spelling or grammar in every horribly mangled post: I have always assumed people would complain about the moderators editing their posts for anything other than racism or explicit photos (basically the only two reasons we do it).
  12. I am so glad I have been working during the actual games. I am also glad there are few Yankees fans at my job.
  13. You're welcome, thank you for posting this question, then ignoring the fact that it was folded into another thread, and then posting it again in the wrong forum. Welcome to Talksox.

  15. It's your IT guy telling you to get back to work!
  16. Given how many Tampa Bay fans there actually are, what are you pulling in? Ten bucks?
  17. The bad luck injuries apparently hitched a ride with Beckett and Crawford. Less than a week in LA and Kemp hurts himself.
  18. Sorry, I thought we were talking about Major League teams.
  19. So it's possible both his first and last games for the Sox will be against the Royals.
  20. I heard he was going to take a cab, but he threw a fit when the driver closed the door for him and he got kicked out.
  21. Apparently things have to be more "organic". I left this alone because with everyone complaining about practically everything I thought I could avoid this one little thing. Oh well. Merging...now!
  22. Josh Hamilton will likely require a contract the likes of which the Sox just dumped in Crawford and Gonzalez. It would be ridiculous to commit to another huge contract for a player who perhaps doesn't deserve it after the moves that have been made. It's like breaking up with a girl who tried to set you on fire while you slept and immediately getting into a relationship with someone you know is going to do exactly the same thing.
  23. Cerebral? He was a great player, and I can think of many words to describe him, but "cerebral" is definitely not one of them.
