  1. Congrats to McDonald on getting his average up into triple digits!
  2. I'm glad our forum doesn't embed quotes past the first one. There is nothing I hate more than message board threads that are impossible to read due to recursive quoting. The old Trek boards were like that.
  3. I recommend Weyoun or Keevan. Excellent names.
  4. I got in the car after work today just in time to catch the last two outs of the Yankees game on the radio. It's hilarious listening to Sterling's goofdouche call now. It was so lackluster, not to mention much shorter than usual. It was like listening to a guy trying to sound appreciative at a surprise 60th birthday party while staring at a pile of gag gifts.
  5. I tried to get a chat going once, I forget why, but it wasn't for games. I know better than to mess with gamethreads.
  6. Is is bad that Greasy Baltimore Face sounds like an urbandictionary.com sex act? What does that say about me, or our society? God, we're f***ing doomed.
  7. You should check out the thread from game 4 of the 2004 WS if you haven't already. I wish I had been on TalkSox for that.
  8. Yeah, but was it enough to justify what the Sox spent on him? And as much as he helped in his first season, how much did he hinder after that?
  9. I can't possibly believe the Guardians would keep him in the closer role in the postseason. If they do, they might not make it out of the WC game.
  10. The last time the Sox paid an exorbitant sum to secure a Japanese pitcher with zero MLB experience whom they expected to anchor their rotation for years to come, it went...poorly. I would advise caution on repeating the endeavor.
  11. Oh, great, .gifs with catchphrases from 2009. I'm so happy this is happening again. In other news, yes, gamethreads have always and will always suffice. If you want to create your own offsite chatroom and invite TalkSox members to it, you are welcome to do so, but I wouldn't hold out hope of it surpassing the gamethreads in traffic. Gamethreads are an integral part of the postseason tradition here on TalkSox, and if the furor that is unleashed when a newbie makes a gamethread out of order hasn't already made it clear, we here at TS do love us some f***ing tradition.
  12. "Oh, hey, nice to see you!" Said the coroner to the obligatory maggots who turn up in corpses. I am continually astounded at myself that I haven't kicked you off of this site. I'd take a million Jackos over you anyday. If this site was the Simpsons, you'd be Nelson. Forgotten about by the important people until you show up for your occasional annoying laugh, only to disappear again, and when you have a storyline of your own, it usually ends with you looking like a tool.
  13. To be fair, the way that Marlins pitcher admired his home run certainly merited an ass-kicking. I don't know what happened today.
  14. Come on guys, this was an important psychological research project. Have a little respect for struggling graduate students.
  15. Didn't Olerud have a slam for the Sox when he played briefly at the end of 2005?
  16. Lugo actually had more RBI than Drew at that point in the season? Wow.
  17. I was thinking of Mueller, who hit two in one inning, one from each side of the plate. That was an awesome game. Back when Texas had no pitching and was easier to beat.
  18. Haha Quintin Berry is batting .750. What a stud.
  19. This was their 9th of the season! The record is 14, by both the 2000 A's and the 2006 Guardians.
  20. Middlebrooks with 7RBI tonight. Love it.
  21. I don't, I'd much rather the Sox play the Guardians. They'll f***ing destroy them. It'll look like the 2007 ALCS without the Guardians wins.
  22. Ballgame over! Season over! Yankees lose! THUU-UH-UH-UH-UH-UH-UH YANKEES! LOSE!
  23. This is starting to look like the 2007 World Series, except this time it's not Pedroia beating the s*** out of the Rockies.
  24. Apparently, he chooses option number one.
