  1. I wasnt stating that your statement was "crazy" but rather the statement made that Macha only manages a team with a low budget and no offense.
  2. and yes, of coarse we do, but not to the extent that you guys do. But we're a loyal organization as well. The last time we let a player go who was a vital part of our success and a huge fan favorite was 2001/2002 with Tino Martinez (and if you remember, none of the fans were happy about letting Tino go), and Andy Pettitte 2003/2004 (also, the fans did not want him to go, that was George's doing).
  3. Yes, but thats because he was in Red Socks. When have we ever treated him like that when he was a Yankee. Or anything else for that matter (SD last year he got an ovation).
  4. Oh I understand. That is a crazy statement, as I recall last year Macha had Zito, Hudson, Mulder, Dotel, Chavez, and Dye. Hardly low priced players.
  5. I cant believe you guys want Tito out already. I was talking to schillingouttheks and the topic of the Red Sox and loyalty from the fans and organization went, and this is a perfect example of what I was talking about with him. this man won you guys a championship last year, something no other man has done in 86 years. And already you want to kick him to the curb. Same thing happened with Embree and Bellhorn this year, they dont have seasons like they did last year now Red Sox Nation has a bounty out on them. This happens all too much with the Red Sox, where players or managers who played a big part in the franchise leave, get booted, or have the fans turn on them. Barrow, Ruth, Fisk, Clemens, Boggs, Embree, Bellhorn, Foulke, Nomar, Vaughn, and now Francona, among the many others. (I put Embree and Bellhorn because regardless of what you guys say, they were huge fan favorites and played a huge role in the championship last year).
  6. nevermind, Tejada and Foulke played a year with Macha, my mistake
  7. those were all Howe players, werent they?
  8. yea I was reffering to the MostValueableNetwork
  9. Ive always liked Lilly going back to when we had him. But I have a good feeling about tonight
  10. this is ********. this game should never have been a save situation. Al looked great in the 7th, what the hell happened. I cant believe this, several of the games in the past week or so we have not been able to hold a big lead. Guys like Leiter, Embree, Sturtze, Proctor (etc) not being able to hold onto big leads is going to kill Mo and Flash. This is so frustrating, I cant be satisfied that we won because of how our middle relief has been lately. ------------ but now for some positives. Mussina was very good through his 6. Posada was fantastic tonight, A-Rod made another nice play (though the defense was iffy), Leiter was great in the 7th, overall it was a satisfying 7 innings of baseball...but after that it was just disgusting.
  11. The last pitcher to WIn an MVP award was Clemens in 86, right? But I think that they should officially make the MVP award for players, not pitchers, because they have the Cy Young. The only reason they probably havent yet is because pitchers pretty much never win the MVP award.
  12. the whole team doesnt play 3B though, so thats not really a fair comparrison
  13. no, hes not a gold glove backup, but ill take him over Felix Escalona
  14. I know it has nothing to do with Mueller, but you said "stats dont lie" reffering to A-Rod not being that good a 3B. Well I know how good you guys here at talksox think Mueller is, so I figured I would supply stats on A-Rod and just to compare them to someone, so you could see whether or not they are good, I chose to supply Mueller's as well. but now that I have proven that A-Rod is better than Mueller, you come up with a smartass reply. Typical
  15. I didnt say you said it, I just didnt feel like making seperate posts, it was a general statement so I put a blank line between the 2.
  16. OK, I think I will. In fact ill compare his numbers to that of your very own Bill Mueller. ------------G---GS---INN-----TC--PO---A---E--DP---F%----RF-----ZR A-Rod----150-150-1295.2--381-107-263-11--25--.971---2.57--.727 Mueller---132-130 1123.1--330-78--242-10--20--.970---2.56---.775 G = Games GS = Games Started INN = Innings TC = Total Chances PO = Put Outs A = Assists E = Errors DP = Double Play F% = Fielding Percentage RF = Range Factor (PO + A divided by innings) ZR = Zone rating. The percentage of balls fielded by a player in his typical defensive "zone," as measured by STATS, Inc. ------------------------------------------ So lets see, something that popped out at me is that A-Rod only has 1 more error than Mueller, but he has had 51 more total chances. Also A-Rod's fielding percentage is better, and he has played 172.1 more innings. So if "stats dont like" you must agree that A-rod is a better 3Bmen than Mueller, right?
  17. why all the anger, I dont have an attitude, so why do you? Im just talking some baseball. But seriously, you have to be dumb to think that A-Rod is a bad Third Basemen.
  18. can you verify that?
  19. Anybody who thinks that A-Rod is a bad Third Basemen is a f***in clown. I dont care what numbers you bring up, if you think A-Rod is a bad Third Basemen then there is something wrong. Ok, so there is absolutely NO QUESTION that Ortiz, in the past 3 years since joining the Sox, has emerged as one of the best OFFENSIVE players in the game. But so is A-Rod. But if A-Rod has an off-night with the bat (like last night) he can also contribute in the field by saving a run r 2 (like last night). Ortiz however, cannot. If Ortiz goes 0-4 thats not too valueable, but if A-Rod goes 0-4 but makes a great play to save a run, then thats pretty valueable if you ask me (or any reasonable baseball fan for that matter). Now I know you guys (Sox fans) hate it when we (Yankee fans) bring up the defensive aspect of the debate, but sorry thats part of the game regardless of how much you think it isnt. But, if you want to talk offense then lets go for it. Coming into tonight A-Rod is in the top 4 in EVERY Triple Crown category, Ortiz is not. Avg 1) M. Young .328 2) V. Guerrero .320 3) A. Rodriguez .318 14) D. Ortiz .300 HR 1) D. Ortiz 46 2) A. Rodriguez 45 RBI 1) D. Ortiz 140 2) M. Teixeira 132 3) M. Ramirez 129 4) A. Rodriguez 120 There is no doubt that Ortiz has been FANTASTIC in clutch situations, while A-Rod has not been that great, but I just showed that A-Rod has been a better ALL AROUND hitter this year, just another thing to add to his arguement along with the defensive arguement.
  20. yea, but hes more versatile than anyone else we have, and god forbid Cano or A-Rod go down (I didnt include Jeter, because if jeter went down we would probably play Womack at SS because he can leadoff) Bellhorn would be our best bet. Or for instance IF we're in the World Series, NL park, most of our bats off the bench are gone, he can pinch hit for the pitcher or something. Bellhorn proved last year he can produce in the postseason
  21. what are we supposed to do, release him in September ? :dunno: :what: Hes a versatile player who could help us out in some spots.
  22. cant forget about DiNardo
  23. Where did this guy Jeter come from?? lol
  24. lol thats why I LOVE going to Yankee Stadium. BTW that wave was CRAZY (they showed it on YES)
